  1. Did you receive some documentation from Seabourn that outlines the advance process for US citizens?
  2. Thanks, eroller, for all the comparison photos. I've been on Explorer, will be on Splendor this summer with 2 couples (family). Thought I'd have them check the sample menus on the website just to get the gastronomic juices moving. Hope the sample menus compare favorably with the menus served onboard now.
  3. What are the big differences between Grandeur, Splendor, and Explorer?
  4. Unfortunately, sometimes the cost of buying from a third-party may be prohibitively expensive, if it is age-based - expensive for us seniors, so sometimes the cruise line's is the cheapest, but I agree, maybe not the wisest.
  5. Unfortunately, Icelandic doesn't have flat-bed seats in Business, which we've all gotten used to.
  6. I've chosen one of the aft-facing G2's. Any comments?
  7. I booked my Air to Reykjavik through Regent. Icelandic air from Newark. What airline are you flying from Seattle? I'm also returning from LHR on Virgin.
  8. Wel, there are still 3 Morocco ports and Ile de Goree in Senegal (as present). And there is more to do in Tenerife than the beach, at least a chance to walk around in between sea days. I was on three of the islands in December, very different, Lanzarote very dry (closest to the Sahara), and more lush as you go West. Port congestion? Must be commercial traffic, not many cruise ships go there. Why are the expedition ships "not the best for sea days"? Not enough to do, too unstable? It's my first time on Seabourn's expedition ships. Also have another booked for the fall, so interested why you mention this.
  9. Can't help, Lord H., since I've never received one! 🙃
  10. What brand is the soap, shampoo, lotion in the bath? Is there a choice? Large or small bottles?
  11. Not sure about Regent, but Silversea offers bus transportation from the port to airport regardless if you purchased Air from them. You might check onboard and yhen could cancel your private car. Destinations desk will set the parameters, e.g., "if your flight is before ---, you can purchase the bus option".
  12. If the Waitlist is not an option, I learned why after calling Regent. It was the island of Guernsey, and I was told there were no more suppliers (guides, buses, etc.) Don't know if there are several other ships in the same day. But, checking when onboard and morning-of are always options.
  13. Not sure we're on the same voyage, but your debark on Monday indicates that we are: Reykjavik-Southampton, 18 days. I booked my Air with Regent, and they have me on a Virgin flight at 12:45P from Heathrow to Atlanta so assume they feel that is sufficient time to make the flight. We arrive at 7:00AM, always an estimate, so perhaps we will be in the first group to debark.
  14. My experience is that "complimentary premium spirits" is accurate, "fine wines" less so 🍹
  15. If you book a reservation for Sagrada Familia, even day of the visit, you can bypass what can be very long lines.
  16. Click on Offers, then Solo Travelers
  17. Isn't this just a problem with reserving the three specialty restaurants, not Compass Rose, which is open seating. And after all passengers have had a chance to have one dinner at them, there are always opportunities for additional evenings by checking with maitre'ds. Seems like Sette Mari should be reserved seating too since there appears to be a line before opening. Could favor late diners, though.
  18. Traveling solo last year on Silversea (not Silverseas), I couldn't disagree more about welcoming solos. There is a cocktail get-together nightly, and some, not all, go on to dinner together. Viking treated me as a solo as persona non grata. Regent I haven't sailed since Covid (have a cruise planned this summer), so can't comment. It sometimes takes some preemptive activity to arrange solo dining with these lines. Seabourn, I agree, is the best. Very pro-active, printed invitations almost daily if you request it. Accept or decline, easy-peasy. I'll be on Venture, first time, soon and am anxious to see if the invitations still come 🙂.
  19. None for me here in Florida. I'm Platinum level but haven't sailed since Covid (plan to this summer on Splendor), so maybe only recent cruisers?
