Search for the Nations - Terrible Prize!
dcgrumpy replied to yogimax's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Be thankful the person running it knew what they were doing. We were going to do it on Allure last year. We asked how long we had to get the names. The guy kept telling us to came back when we were done and whoever had the most would win. We tried clarifying, an hour, 2 hours, 3 days....? Needless to say, we said "screw this" after taking two selfies. LOL -
No, it was more than a year before the cruise. Good luck

It worked for me last year. I waitlisted 2 cabins next to each other. I received an email in less than a week saying the cabins had become available.

Family's statement on toddler's cruise death

Yeah thanks. I couldn't remember what the Oasis class windows looked like but I found this picture TY took in the Solarium. Different, but they do open. -

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the windows on Oasis class pool decks also open. -
Teens and CocoCay Water Park
dcgrumpy replied to Queen of Oakville's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes. I grew up in Queens and started riding public transportation on my own at 10 or 11. If I hadn't moved to LI, my kids would be doing the same. -
I love deck 6. Quick run down to the promenade for early morning coffee or late night pizza.

Teens and CocoCay Water Park

My 14yo daughter takes the ferry to Fire Island with her friends. I heard through the grapevine that my sister was horrified. -

The age at my local water park is 13. -

Yes, but the point is some parents don't want to go in. You only have to be 14 to enter a Disney park alone. -

It should be like it is onboard. Over a certain age you just need to sign a waiver and they can use Flowrider, rock wall.... -

I don't think so. The windows slide to the side. -
That's just silly. If the cruise was 2 months later she would be in the teen club. Would you say the same thing about a girl that just turned 12?

Why such a big difference in price?
dcgrumpy replied to no1volman's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I don't think they have any 7 night cruises out of Florida on Freedom or Voyager class. It stinks. That's actually the reason I tried Carnival when I did. -

I was going to say something similar. In the last year I sailed on Allure and Carnival Magic. My Magic cruise was $100 more than Allure. -
I have heard of exceptions between the 2 teen clubs or within the AO age groups. I' haven't heard of them moving someone from the Youth Program to the Teen Program.

Prepay gratuities or not?!
dcgrumpy replied to cruiselover19811981's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Is that insurance through the cruiseline? I always purchase through a 3rd party so I put in the dollar amount I want to insure. Plus I add gratuities after I purchase insurance. -

I prepay. I usually wait until the week before to call and add the gratuities. -
Never Again on RCCL! Poor Customer Service!
dcgrumpy replied to gooselover's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have to agree. Even when I'm booking a one night stay in a $150 a night hotel I make sure I know the cancellation policy before booking. Then I check the confirmation to make sure it's right. Like other posters have said the OP would have been able to change it within 24 hours. Last year my sister-in-law accidentally booked the wrong cruise. It was non-refundable but she was able to call and change it within 24 hours. Luckily she posted it on Instagram and my kids saw that she was on the wrong cruise. -

How long was the cruise? A 7 night cruise is normally $250 pp. Is that some sort of new "deal"? No deposit for kids, but double for adults. -

I may have missed this somewhere, but why was the deposit $2000 for 6 people in 2 balconies?
