We loved our signature on the Eurodam. mostly for the "desk and shelves" set up by the bed. Handy for so much. But the photos I am seeing of same on the Statendam don't seem to include that set up. Can anyone confirm that it's either there or not?

I hated our middle aft. I believe it was the Statendam, but the jerking and shaking of the ship as it moved kept me awake all nite. Like THUMP, BZZZ, BANG is how I described it. And as for the view, my hubby said it was like watching a washing machine run, just same same.

The pax on this charter are partiers, AKA, drinkers. Only 1 bar on the aft deck (where the music is) was making Bloody Marys (they do set up a second bar for simple drinks but no speciality drinks like the drink of the day) and the bloodies were pretty marginal, I had one served in a pilsner glass! And no veggies save one lonesome olive. There were, each afternoon when the bands are playing on the aft deck, a total of 2 servers. Simply not enough for this particular crowd, and they were so overwhelmed!! The poor barkeep trying to make Bloodies was keeping up best he could, but the servers were having to go in to the pool bar.
And typically on this cruise, the Crow's Nest stays open into the wee hours for musicians to "jam" and people to dance, but no more - locked down tight at 10:30. HAL claimed not enough staff. There were a lot of complaints, and although the Blues Cruise has been very loyal to HAL, I can't help but wonder...............

I used to grab a couple of them to take to the cabin for a late nite snack when I didn't want to wait for room service. And they used to come in a little paper/cellophane bag. No more bag??? Last cruise I wrapped them in napkins, which was OK, I guess. Anyone else notice this??

Usually at dinner, at the end by the drink section, small pretty plates of apps, like prosciutto and melon, different salads like orzo with olives, Dolmadakia , a garnished plate of meats and cheeses, etc. On our last cruise, there were just bowls or trays of whatever. I missed the pretty small plates.

We did an aft on the Kdam a couple of years ago, and I complained about it here. Same thing you're describing. I don't know if the seas were particularly bad, but I got almost no sleep from being bounced up and down and forward and backward.

The reason I ask about a computer, is although I take my tablet, my SO has an especially hard time using it, fumble-fingers. A laptop would be nice, but I don't want to schlep.

Ok, a computer??? Using our wifi pkg. or what?? And books?? We get the free laundry, and honestly, although we had a card in our Sig. Suite with our "concierge's" name, we never saw or heard from the fella.
Hmm, still pondering. But I do thank the people who have taken the time to respond.
Oh, one other thing. i usually trek up to the Lido upon boarding to be sure to get a week pass for the hyrotherapy suite. Can they do that?? Oh, and one other one thing, is there alway ice available in the lounge? I sometimes suffer keeping enough ice in the room.

We had our first Suite, a Signature, this last fall and loved it. So we're thinking about a Neptune for next year. The big selling point seems to us seems to be the lounge. However, we are not expecially gregarious people at all, preferring to read or watch a movie in our down time. So I doubt we'd use the lounge or the concierge. Would it be worth it upgrade even further?

And trust me, I feel ridiculous posting this, but it seems to be they've been installed wrong. That is, when you go to yank some TP off the roll, too often the entire roll flies off the holder and rolls down the bathroom floor. I mean, I learned pretty quickly to hold on to it, but it wasn't just in our room, but in the public bathrooms as well. It seems that if the holder were turned around, the act of pulling off paper wouldn't spin the whole roll off the holder. Am I just crazy or has anyone else noticed this???
Most recent - 7 day Eurodam, Signature Suite.

I may be confused and confess to not reading this entire thread, but I thought you mailed in your passport to get the passport card. Can you have both in your possession?? Do they mail back the passport??

We also love the Best Western Yacht Harbor, so close and good dinner options and groceries nearby. And very reasonable for a balcony room, free shuttle, 24 hr. coffee etc

Thanks!!! I think the photos I found were older before dry dock. This is good news as we take turns watching while each gets ready for the day!!

I should add #6080

Took an upgrade w/O looking at photos. Now upon checking, the TV seems oddly placed? We like to catch up in the morning & maybe catch a movie at night, but this set up would seem to make it hard to watch from bed.

HATED our Kdam aft. I got next to no sleep. I felt like pulling and then like a shuddering all night. Never again.

Bathrobe is a very generic term used for an item that today serves a multitude of uses. Considering the fact that there are very few baths on the NS, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the original meaning of the word. The Lido Market shares its deck with the fitness centre, the spa, the hydro pool, hot tubs and two swimming pools, all areas where coverups of this nature are pretty common, so it's quite understandable that one is going to see the occasional passenger crossing through on the way to or from these other areas. Some might even stop along the way for a bite.
While I personally wouldn't use one outside my cabin, a white terrycloth robe doesn't offend my sensibilities as much as some of the flimsy, see-through "coverups" that I frequently see in the Lido Market.
Exactly this. I walk thru the LIDO on my way to the hydrotherapy suite. In my bathrobe. I don't eat or sit down, but it's just the easiest way to get there. What else should I do?

I dunno, all the security and dogs must look the other way when the Blues Cruise sails. That is one waking and baking ship if the cloud in the hallways is right :)

Mods, you may move this, or other members, I don't really see a forum for this question.
If I were a gazillionaire and wanted to charter a boat for a theme cruise, say for paper mache, can I choose between levels of service for my charter? Say, for example, I want my pax to all have the very best of everything, like food and service, or maybe just the bare minimum, depending on what I choose to pay for the boat I am chartering?

Those small plates at lunch and dinner, assorted cheeses and dried fruits and nuts, neat small veggie samples (Mmmmm, fennel and eggplant) and other mystery sort of things. Always an adventure.

I'm confused. We've used Uber many times from the hotel to the port. But they tell us that most times for a pick up, that Uber drivers can usually not enter the port without a fare. And that a better bet sadly, would be a cab, but after 2 horrible experiences with Yellow Cab there, I will stand back and wait for a different cab company. But I would prefer Uber. Anyone have issues with them getting in???

Is Closed Caption available....so one person can read....and the other watch TV/Movie.....???
CC is available, but it doesn't always work well and some movies don't offer the option at all. We had fairly good luck with it on the live TV news channels.

A lot of this "banging" (known as "slamming") is caused because the ship's speed is out of synch with the waves' speed, so the ship doesn't ride up and over smoothly, but every 3rd or 4th wave catches the ship heading down when it should be going up to ride the wave, and the wave slams into the ship. Many times a small adjustment to speed can reduce this greatly, and following or "quartering" (45* to stern) seas will magnify the effect.
And yes, during the day when I suppose they weren't trying to make time, it wasn't there, and I could nap, thank og.

I found it impossible. Nav. deck. The vibration was insane, almost shook me out of bed, it was like BIG thrust then shake shake shake. A few seconds respite and then repeat all night long.
Anyone else? I so looked forward to it, but never again. I had to resort to sleeping medication.

How would you handle very loud conversations in the thermal spa?

I go there to relax, to lie in the waters and just zone out. Last cruise 3 women and a man were carrying on the LOUDEST convo ever, of course, you have to be heard over the water, but they went on for such a long time, I had to leave. I went to a heated lounge, and DAMN, if they didn't show up there still talking. What would you have done? i just left and was grumpy all day. Well, maybe for an hour :)
