I was on Celebrity last week and they had “The Retreat” which, from what I understand, is similar to YC and Haven. If I can ever afford it, I’ll be sure to let you know how it is! 🙂

No limes? No Chardonnay? These are bare minimum expectations from a bar. What is their excuse? Every other cruise line can keep these items in stock, but MSC can’t? SMH.

You know things are bad when you have to have a “strategy” to make things not quite as bad. This drink situation…I should just be able to walk up and grab a drink and not have to think about much else. The bar is so low, it’s sad.

Prior to COVID they would give you OBC or upgrade your cabin category to make up for the difference. They will no longer do that.

Royal Caribbean no longer price adjusts once final payment date has passed, so the OP would be out of luck with Royal as well as his or her sailing is next month. This was a post-Covid policy change. Not sure how the other lines are handling this nowadays.

So the problem is with MSC, not the guests that are being given access by the crew. I wouldn't turn down that offer from a crew member, nor would anyone in their right mind.

So you’ve never been on a cruise or stayed at a resort where there are cocktail servers walking around to take orders and clear empty glasses? I find that impossible to believe. I’m not the most seasoned cruiser, but I’ve taken at least 12 of them on various lines and this type of service is absolutely the norm.

Thanks for the info! So day 2 was key west port day? Just want to verify as I believe some of the 4 day sailings on Silhouette vary.

I’m on Silhouette next month and trying to figure out when chic night will be. Here’s the itinerary: Day 1: Miami Day 2: Key West Day 3: Sea Day 4: Nassau Will they still have chic night on day 2, even though it is a port day?

I was actually just reading another review of this same cruise from another website.

Seems like they need to stop filling ships to max capacity by selling dirt cheap cabins until they have enough crew onboard to provide halfway decent service. Just a thought.

Apparently there isn’t even pool deck beverage service…no servers walking around. You have to wait in line at the bar and the lines are long. Delivering room service, serving beverages…these things are the most basic of basic services one would expect on a cruise….but apparently not on MSC.

I have a friend on right now and joined the FB group to get an idea of what’s happening. Apparently most room service orders were just straight up cancelled during this cruise as they didn’t have the crew to fulfill the orders. Orders that do arrive are hours late with the wrong items. Anyone defending this nonsense should join some of these FB groups to see what’s really going on instead of recounting fond memories from a year ago that are no longer representative of the current product.

Absolutely! A lower level of service and a lower class of passengers. Lots of bachelor/bachelorette parties, obnoxious drunks and the like.

Every review/comment about MSC should come with a disclaimer if the writer stayed in YC. You cannot give a fair evaluation of a cruise if you’re spending 2x - 3x what everyone else is paying so you can spend the majority of your time in a bubble to insulate yourself from what’s on the outside. And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with paying to stay in YC…but to think your experience on the same sailing might mirror someone staying in a GTY interior would be naive, to put it nicely.

The demand for cruising is through the roof. Interior cabins on Royal’s Independence, same port and similar itinerary, are selling for $900+ and that does not include alcohol, wifi etc like MSC is handing out. They are devaluing the product, it doesn’t need to be this way.

As of this posting, I can purchase 3 night interior cabin on Meraviglia in March with the basic drink package, wifi and gratuities for $521. And that’s with the single supplement! I can’t help but wonder…why are they doing this? Why devalue an already diminished experience? When you look at what RC, NCL, Carnival are currently charging for sailings out of PC, it really defies all logic. Considering how understaffed they are, is it really a wise move to practically give cruises away for the sake of filling the ship? This is greed at its worst. I almost booked, but I can’t help but think of the crew who are already being worked to death. Hey MSC…DO BETTER!

I typically cruise out of PC as I live in the area. The first time I cruised out of Miami I remember being pleasantly surprised that the parking garage wasn’t that much more expensive than PC. Then I realized that Miami charges 7 days for a 7 day cruise and PC charges 8 days. 😂

For one reason or another, they have made a business decision to not invest in their booking platform. Draw what conclusions you will.

In other words, you get what you pay for.
