Cape Canaveral hospital was just instructed to evacuate. Port Canaveral is expected to be closed through Friday. Milton is expected to have a direct hit on Cape Canaveral. Wouldn't be surprised if Port Canaveral is closed for several days.
-
Orlando should be fine by Sunday. Disney, SeaWorld and Universal are all closing by 2pm today and will be closed tomorrow. I think Orlando will be reopening most areas on Friday depending on damage and flooding, including the airport.

I miss when Cruise Critic used to have articles during hurricanes season summarizing all of the cruise lines altered itineraries.
-
The hurricane is supposed to hit landfall Tuesday night. So it may not seem severe now, but in 24 hours, it probably will. Orlando airport will be closed on Wednesday. I'd fully expect all of Disney's parks and Universal to be closed on Wednesday. Milton morphed quickly into a category 5 hurricane. I wouldn't take this storm lightly.
-
The latest update is that Milton is tracking a bit further South. So perhaps ports like Galveston, Mobile, Jacksonville and New Orleans won't be affected.
-
Margaritaville's Islander is now departing on Monday instead of Tuesday. TBD if the itinerary gets changed.

any cruises out of Tampa this week will be affected probably starting tomorrow with RCL's Grandeur. Tampa then has the Islander scheduled to leave Tuesday, no ships on Wednesday, and then CCL's Paradise on Thursday.
-
Margaritaville's Islander is currently at sea and scheduled to return on Sunday, September 29.

Weather Update - Hurricane Helene
Last Updated September 25, 2024 - 7:30PM EDT
Serenade of the Seas: September 27, 2024, sailing from Tampa
Due to Hurricane Helene and the planned closure of Port Tampa, our previous sailing will be delayed in returning. As a result, our sailing will now depart on Sunday, September 29 at 4:00pm. We kindly ask that you arrive during the arrival window you originally selected for an on-time departure.
We’re sorry for the last-minute change caused by the weather. To ensure we provide you with an exceptional port program on our shorter sailing, we've updated our itinerary. Please see below:
This situation remains very fluid, and we’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you onboard Serenade of the Seas this Sunday.

We are very tentatively anticipating sometime Friday, September 27, possibly Saturday, September 28.

Reminder when Cruise Critic was good about providing updates about hurricanes? Guess not anymore.

There's no way the Port of Tampa will be open tomorrow.

hat's the latest on the Odyssey CDs for this winter? Schedule still appears odd looking.

As someone who generally doesn't care for the Windjammer, I like the specialty lunches. The past few Anthem cruises, they offered BOGO lunches for Diamond members and above. So I ate at Chops and Jamie's for lunch for $15 each essentially. And you can get the Filet Mignon during lunch as well.

TAs aren't the bargain they used to be. They are very popular now.
My October 2025 TA is cheaper than my January '25 cruise (11-day on Odyssey).

Just feels like these ships will have the same itineraries sailing out of Galveston and Florida. Western cruises will be Cozumel, Costa Maya and Jamaica. Eastern cruises will remain Nassau, CocoCay and San Juan. 💤💤💤

wonder if it'll be better than Puerto Plata?

🤷🏻♀️ I have booked 2/22/26 and want to make it a back to back, but nothing has opened for March 1st yet. If Odyssey is going to be in the Azores March 7th as Jumping Cruiser said, then I’m assuming an early transatlantic for Odyssey.
Curious what ship RCCL will bring up early for Bayonne? There's no way there won't be a ship sailing out of there, especially in March when it's peak Spring break time. So whatever two ships are planned that summer, one will just arrive a month earlier that usual.

Depends, Adventure is modified specifically to sail under the bridge that’s in Sydney, not sure of the particular height required off the top of my head but does that pose an issue for any Carnival ships, assuming most? But eventually they’ll be rotated out, they aren’t that young anymore.
Elation & Paradise turn 30 in 2028 with a dry dock scheduled for 2029. Never know by then, but the Adventure & Encounter are only 3 & 4 years younger, respectively.
-
just a thought, but since Carnival is getting the two P&O ships by 2025(Adventure & Encounter), they could just replace the Elation & Paradise down the road since they're both 108,000 ton and should fit for Tampa & Jacksonville.
-
yeah, Magic & Wonder will likely be gone by 2031. So their fleet would be at 11 then. Adventure remains out of China/Singapore & Wish 2028 stays in Japan. Maybe Disney will homeport a ship out of Australia year-round by 2030? 2 ships out of Port Canaveral, 2 ships of out Fort Lauderdale, keep one ship out of California, another doing Alaska/Hawaii westcoast trips, one of Europe.

A possible Casino aboard, as reported by "Don's Vacation Blog."
If it's sailing out of China and Singapore, odds are there will be a casino. The Asian cruising market loves to gamble.

Debby heading more Westward should limit the possible delays for the Sunshine arriving and leaving tomorrow.
