  1. I just fold a medallion-sized envelope from the heavy aluminum foil from the top of a coffee can. I just slide the medallion out when I need it -- opening the cabin door and embarking/debarking. The less time I have to spend with guest services, the better.
  2. How do we know the refare will still be an option? Maybe price drops will be "new bookings only" as some currently are. Then cancel and rebook? Risky. Will this "guarantee" be extended beyond Sept. 2.?
  3. I tried to refare a cruise yesterday. My CVP had made another booking and told me to call 1 800 PRINCESS and have my deposit and cabin switched to the new booking. So I did, the agent cancelled my old booking and by the end of the 1.5-hour phone call, I had to place a new deposit and the cabin price had gone up or the deposit had become non-refundable, so I was left with a worse deal than when I started the call, and a worse deal than I would have gotten if I had simply booked the adjacent cabin online and not bothered with the CVP and 1 800 PRINCESS and not wasted 1.5 hours of my time. I was told by the "supervisor" that "Princess does not honor misquotes." (The original booking was not covered by the new Best Price Guarantee).
  4. We were b3b on the Island last month, had an Italian pizza chef (Mossimo?) on the pool deck who made different "specialty" pizzas every day that went beyond the usual Princess rotation, and his pies were darn good. And of course, free.
  5. Celebrity too, and my major internet TA for all lines. Others?
  6. To me, the press release says (incorrectly) that you get both the refare and 120% of the difference in OBC, but the "How it works" and "terms and conditions" only mention the OBC. Princess may be moving away from refaring. I spent more than an hour on the phone yesterday with offshore to get two simple refares; in the past it would have taken five minutes.
  7. We're b3b on the Island Princess starting in May; are the saunas open to all passengers, or do you need a spa pass, please? Thank you.
  8. We consider ourselves lucky because we don't need the internet, we enjoy getting away from it on a cruise. As Elite, we used to get some time free, but Princess took that away, which makes us even less inclined to pay for it. Also we have enjoyed going to local libraries and stores that offer free internet. Cruising used to be so simple -- it was about the cruise and destinations -- not about all the "options", which many people, including Princess employees, have trouble following.
  9. OP, thanks for all the info. We will likely be aboard in three weeks. Any observations on Covid-related factors, e.g., masks, restrictions, quarantines, etc.? Thanks!
  10. Another downside of introducing a third party.
  11. Or maybe not. Whoever you ask at HAL may not be able or willing to share that information, and no matter what that person said, why would you believe it?
  12. Are you assuming that HAL would award these wait-listed $49/pp cabins on a first-come first-served basis? More likely HAL would choose passengers who are likely to spend the most onboard, based on factors like previous spend, gratuities, etc., and maybe even personal info like credit line, address, age, etc. They probably have algorithms for all this.
  13. We usually pay $50-$100pp per day (standard fare). So just eating at Alfredo's/Gigi's is a 15-30% increase. I was on Discovery and Majestic three times last year, usually went to Gigi's instead of the MDR, often lunch and dinner..
  14. Trophies should only go to those who pay extra for them?
  15. About half the time I end up going to guest service to let them know the machine is not working. I know a passenger who, in that case, unplugs the machine so lots of other passengers won't waste their precious vacation time waiting for the printout that never comes.
  16. Wow, I hadn't looked at a medallion thread since it was first introduced several years ago and I said then that the medallion was a solution in search of a problem. Now I see that the medallion is its own problem, and after all these years, it still can't fix itself.
  17. Maybe it will have a positive impact? How many weather tools (no offense, Mr. Van Fleet) does the captain need? Maybe that's why the captain drove the Allure into the hurricane -- he was too busy evaluating his tools instead of looking out the window, missed the forest for the trees. 'You don't need a weather man to tell which way the wind blows.' Window dressing. And as for cruise lines' concern about passenger safety: Have you been to a boat drill lately?
  18. Want fairness? Eliminate the sanctuary.
