  1. When getting insurance quotes, I noticed I can add some days before and/or after my trip and it doesn’t increase the premium. Is there any advantage or disadvantage in doing so? I’m thinking that provides coverage if I need to extend trip for whatever reason. Also if I get sick a few days before actually leaving, it’s covered. Is this accurate? or does it not work this way?
  2. Thanks, Steve. But is there anything published with other data similar to this?
  3. We book based on prices. It’s probably no coincidence that lowest prices are during lowest demand times and when school is in session. Checks most of the boxes… Less money. Less kids. Less crowds. Less heat.
  4. If it’ll be of any help, we’ll jump on the ship as you get off and finish the cruise for you so nobody will know. Just need you to slip us your S&S cards. 😃
  5. We did it on the Anthem a few years ago. It was $99 a person but we thought it would be super cool on that ship. It was just “eh”. Once you’ve see a huge galley and laundry room on one ship, they all look a like. They did give us a mimosa and a chocolate chip cookie though. We’re sailing the Symphony next month and will also put the $158 toward drinking 🙂
  6. I just realized the cart pricing is also slightly lower for Rudy’s Seagrill and Bonsai Teppanyaki on the Mardi Gras. Too bad there isn’t a price rollback for excursions 🙂
  7. I’m evaluating trip insurance options and really have no clue of how much medical cost and evacuation cost coverage is considered reasonable. Anyone know where to find cost ranges for sample medical situations at common destinations? Yeah, I know there are many factors… yadda yadda yadda But without any guidance, $500,000 - $1,000,000 coverage for emergency evacuation seems ridiculous. TIA
  8. Already booked it. I mentioned it so others can check for their bookings, if interested. (I love that cowboy steak and stuffed mushroom app!) I’m sure Carnival is planning another price increase soon, especially with Royal charging a whopping $65pp for their steakhouse.
  9. The steakhouse is listed in the cruise planner specialty restaurants as $48 per person. But when you add it to your cart, it is only $42. Not sure if this is intentional or a glitch. I don’t recall reading anything about it. But this is how it is for all of my future bookings.
  10. Either there is a trick I am not doing or it just does not work. I am logged in and reading a specific board I click the magnifying glass search icon at the top of the screen. I type in a single word that I am looking for It returns a billion hits across the entire cruise critic site. I just want the pages in the board I am in. So please tell me how to use this as I have never gotten it to work in 15 years. Thank you.
  11. We were on the Spirit the same week as OP. Loved the ship and the crew. We did Any Time dining and was assigned different tables and servers each night. Dinner service was consistently quick, but breakfast/sea day brunch was consistently slower. With several cruises on the Pride and Legend, the Spirit class ships are our favorite. My biggest gripe is they have many of their loudest lido activities by the pool under the partially closed dome. The extremely loud volume with sound reverberation vibrates my teeth fillings out.
  12. Above has been my first-hand experience with them also. Car not available and they tried to upcharge for an alternative. Final bill was significantly higher than expected upon return.
  13. I am also waiting for a refund for a purchase cancelled on 11/18. Following this thread to hear if this starts to resolve itself over the next few weeks or if I have to call.
  14. Sailing on the Symphony in Feb. I noticed they started taking My Time reservations on the app. Earliest time for most days seems to be 7:00pm. Does that really mean that earlier slots are already booked-up months in advance? Or do they lock some time slots until the ship actually sails?
  15. Probably because there is limited cruises. The cost was about $1000 cheaper on Cyber Mon earlier this week than it is now. (Total cost for OV w/2 pax) Perhaps a future sale will lower it again.
  16. Over the years, I have attempted to reach out to the Maitre Ds through email several times. They have never returned a single email. I even tried from different emails in case I was blocked 🙂 Now I just hit them up on embarkation day.
  17. The Tiramisu dessert is usually also in the Buffet the same night. You can always go there after the steakhouse.
  18. The only way to change your photo is to delete your account and re-register. Deleting the cruise or reinstalling the app won’t do it. https://support.myverifly.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020703359-Can-I-change-my-selfie-
  19. Oh, no! Then you’ll be saddened to hear that Carnival eliminated parsley as a cost cutting measure. Apparently only one person ate it. 🙂
  20. If you are going to notice little things like varnish peeling off banisters and it will ruin your vacation, you’re probably going to be disappointed with most ships. Nothing is perfect. You get out of it what you want. We were on the Magic 6/20-6/28 and had a great time. Loved the ship layout, especially the atrium with glass elevators that goes way up. Loved sitting on the Lenai, where there were relatively fewer people and lots of sitting spots and hut tub space. Also easy access to Red Frog and Pig and Anchor. We mitigated crowds by going to dining and shows early, when able. Would sail again on her in a heartbeat. With that said, there were ridiculously long lines at guest services for the first several days. Not sure why, but we deferred going there for anything until late in the cruise, when it was not busy.
  21. That stuffed mushroom appetizer in the steakhouse is delicious.
  22. Anyone know the name of the current Captain of the Magic? Apparently it is no longer printed in any of the Funtimes. TIA
  23. We were on this cruise also. I noticed an awful amount of weed smoking smell around this ship and on outside decks. Even in areas with many kids. That was a bit annoying.
