Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. A cruise ship that isn’t registered in the United States is required to visit at least one port in a foreign country or the cruise line pays a fee of $762 per passenger on the ship. that’s why the Alaska cruise I’m taking makes a short stop in Victoria, Canada. And it’s why all the cruises out of California stop in Mexico. Ships registered in the USA are not subject to that fine. I know, the cruise industry is weird… LOL
  2. $762 is a hefty fee. We’re actually supposed to leave Victoria at 11:59 pm.
  3. I’m from Florida so I actually prefer warm water lobster over a Maine lobster, but I’m glad to hear it’s on night six…
  4. The last night of our cruise we’re in Victoria, Canada from 6 pm to midnight. Is this the night that they have lobster tail at dinner? We are definitely missing dinner due to a tour. Or do they do it the night before which is a day at sea? Thank you…
  5. Is there a way to pull up a specific room on a ship without having to go thru each post?
  6. I just googled it and they say while there’s no dedicated Pickleball court they do have a sport court where they’ll use a portable Pickleball net so that’s a win. Thank you
  7. I just looked it up, there’s no dedicated Pickleball court but there’s a sport court that they will set up for pickeball with a portable net so that a win…
  8. Seriously??? I’m on the Solstice in August. Are you sure? That would be epic…
  9. We’re normally on Celebrity which is owned by RCL so hopefully they’ll add them. Thank you!
  10. I’m also still waiting for a cruise ship with Pickleball courts!
  11. Those cabins are in high demand, I’ve been booked for Alaska in August 2023 for six months. Not everyone can book that far in advance.
  12. Correct, it’s aft and port or aft and starboard. In Alaska however I always opt for a sunset concierge dead center in the back. My balcony is always useable as I’m not getting hit with air as we sail and there’s a few at sea days to enjoy it. When it does stop at a glacier we just go to a viewing area to see it and we’ll do both port and starboard viewing plus sit on our balcony and wave goodbye to it as we pull away. it’s not for everyone, but it’s my first pick. Happy sailing…
  13. Oh, the best thing about being in the back of the ship is while it’s underway the balconies on the back get far less wind than either side of the ship making them enjoyable without extra heavy blankets.
  14. On my previous three Alaskan cruises my spot in the rear corner is perfect I get to see it not only on the starboard or port side due to my wrap around deck, I get to see it as we pull away, that’s called a win win. The back is not for everyone but it’s my absolute favorite.
