  1. Hi All

I'm very new to cruising and have seen a lot of comments about upgrading or rebooking when better inclusions are advertised.

Can someone shed some light for me? I'm booked with RCI for next April and was wondering if I see a better deal advertised or can get a better balcony room before the penalty applies do I cancel existing booking and make a new one, or will Royal Caribbean assist to make changes to the booking?

    Thanks

  3. Not exactly true unless you’re at ‘higher’ latitudes. Whether the sun is north or south of you depends on your location and the time of the year (the declination of the sun). In April on a trip from Australia to Hawaii, the sun will be in a northerly direction when starting out (since the sun has a north declination) and will be overhead sometime after crossing the equator and will be to the south upon arrival in Hawaii.

thanks cool cruiser. So based on previous comments does that mean it will be starboard in the morning before equator then port afterwards?

  4. Hi All

I am considering booking a solo cruise for the first time as I have recently separated from my husband but still want to travel. I've noticed that you have to book the drinks package for both people in a room. I have been thinking about booking a discounted room for 2 adults and then cancelling him as a no show.

Can you then cancel his drinks package for a refund and keep mine? Also if I was changing the booking to my son, can I then cancel the husbands drinks package.

This may not be the correct forum for this so I apologise in advance if not the right place.

    Thanks

    Brooke

  5. Nope, no one can predict the weather but there are ocean areas where either sea currents react seasonally and you get higher swells and sea states. But that transit isn’t one of them.

I’ve not made that transit in a cruise ship but have on Navy ships. Didn’t experience any real issues except when a storm roughed up the seas. And yes, that’s not predictable. But the general comment about higher swells as possible in the winter is correct. But I’d not cruise because of that. Still pretty calm overall.

    Agree, go for it.

    Thanks Den :D

  6. You're right' date=' no one can, but we can share details of the weather we experienced when cruising in this area.

For us the seas were very calm. We would count this as one of our favourite cruises, truly magical, full of "pinch me, am I really here" moments. [emoji846']

  7. Hi All

I am a novice when it comes to cruising unlike you. (1 Carnival with 1 P & O booked - both South Pacific). I am really interested in doing a Transpacific cruise from Sydney to Hawaii via Bora Bora, however am concerned the seas may be rough.

We had a few nights that were a bit rough on the last cruise, one on the way out and one on the way back. I do get seasick although took medication last time before even getting on the ship. Don't make fun, but I do also have a fear of the ship sinking or rolling over in big swell (told you I was inexperienced).

Can anyone advise if this is something to worry about in either a April or October cruise in that part of the world

    TIA

  8. Hi All

I'm very new to cruising, have only done one on the Carnival Legend to Noumea, Mare and Isle of Pines. Absolutely loved it so have booked another one on P & O Aria out of Brisbane In September for our 10 year anniversary.

Wanted something out of Brisbane so we had less time away from our 4 year old who will be staying home with Nana.

I was just wondering if they ever discount the drinks package?. I am still trying to decide whether to purchase it or not at this stage. Our drinks bill on the Legend was $1500 for the 8 nights as she don't mind a few drinks here and there.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Brooke
