Exactly. Ships are sailing 100%+ full these days so what happened years ago has little bearing these days

I've seen waits as long as 2 hours in Grand Cayman, but that is admittedly unusually long. I would estimate between 30 and 60 minutes from when tendering begins.

Everyone has different tastes. I love the Murano dover sole but their menu is just so limited, especially for salads or other starters. That's one reason I visit Tuscan more often. Much more choice. I think their food is certainly not gourmet quality but IMHO 100 times better than a chain (unless that chain is Maggianos).

Plastic zip ties to prevent reclining?
phoenix_dream replied to phoenix_dream's topic in Celebrity Cruises
And by now, having cruised myself several times I know it's true. Completely insane that we all pay the price for an incident or two. I've heard of people falling overboard every now and then. Maybe we need to prohibit people from going outside on deck or on their balconies. Shhhh. Don't want to give them ideas!! -
I think the requirements you are talking about are only if staying overnight. We did not need them on our cruise in December to the ABCs.

Cafe Al Bacio Decaffeinated option?
phoenix_dream replied to Susanne***'s topic in Celebrity Cruises
I always double check when I pick it up as I need both decaf and almond milk. Would not end well if they messed up. Plus I watch them make it- I know which side is the decaf and make sure that's the one they use -
Very rude and inconsiderate. I would definitely report to Guest Relations. My favorite tale on our cruises is about the couple in the next cabin who would engage in some very noisy "afternoon delight" with their balcony door open!

I think in that case I would lean over and look her right in the eyes to get the point across that I could hear every word. Although if she was that oblivious that probably wouldn't work either!

The Decline of Celebrity as a Premium Cruise Line
phoenix_dream replied to Definitas's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We were just on a 9 night during Thanksgiving week. The ship was over 100% full and there were 500 kids. Probably the most crowded ship I've ever sailed. Reflection. -
We cruise out of FLL a lot and fly United. We have had times as short as two hours (on a Saturday with lots of ships in) to usually four hours. It's very frustrating, especially if you have Club membership and want to get to the way-too-small United Club before it is wall to wall people. I think all the huge ships sailing these days has really put stress on the airport (and hotels for that matter) who just aren't prepared for the crowds they create.

I used to love private islands on my cruises (a couple on other lines years and years ago). There was no commercialism. You were brought to a private beach where you were the only ship in town (and back then, ships didn't have 3,000+ passengers) and you could spend all day just relaxing on a nice, quiet beach, Really miss those days.

Truthfully not sure why you are posting this on the Celebrity thread rather than the Royal thread. Not sure what you would expect us to say? You already indicated you won't be on Celebrity and most of us are not Royal experts. So honestly not trying to sound rude, but what kind of feedback are you looking for from us?

We were on a b2b from Nov to Dec. Ship is in great shape overall. Even our cabin, which has not been updated, was in reasonably good shape. Great service and staff overall.

I don't think there is a way to put in an offer lower than the minimum. You can keep checking back - sometimes if there is little interest the minimum bid may change. We have also had a situation where we bid on one level (in this case Celebrity Suite) and they made us a counter offer to bid on a Royal Suite for less than what the original minimum bid was. We accepted that and won the Royal, but I think that is not very common.

Wishing that Celebrity would Port a Ship in San Diego
phoenix_dream replied to mcrcruiser's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I very much miss the cruises based out of San Diego or Long Beach. They were some of my very favorites. Unfortunately they can't fill them so we are out of luck. -
Exactly! So totally unhelpful and not a little bit insulting, especially when someone has already booked. Why go out of your way to make them feel bad or question their choice? I've been on these boards for years but those kinds of comments are getting more and more common and making me question how long I really want to continue participating in these boards.
-
So totally not helpful. They are already booked. So why are you trying to make them feel bad about their choice? And for the record, we took my son on Celebrity from the time he was 3 and he always had a great time!

Topper is very old. And yet, it is my favorite of all the M and S class shows so I for one am hoping it stays around for awhile!

On our most recent cruise even Celebrity Zeniths were supposed to use the Tuscan Grille for disembarkation. We were in a suite so not sure if they would have enforced that or not.

Is Blu available for all Retreat guests?
phoenix_dream replied to orville99's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It is very likely that you will be able to eat in Blu as often as you prefer, if you are willing to be flexible with time. Avoid the most busy times and it will likely not be an issue. Also, even if you are on an E class ship you can always order off the Classics menu in Luminae - steak, chicken, salmon. Additionally, check the menu ahead of time. If there is nothing you like check with the Maitre d or your waiter and you can likely pre-order a filet mignon the day before. The higher your level suite the better this solution will work! (although we've had great luck even in the lowest level suite- it's all about the relationship. Like anywhere, you treat the staff well and with respect like we always do and you get it back in return) -
Retreat boarding from Port Canaveral
phoenix_dream replied to pdobrynski's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Wow. What an interesting post. Thankfully you are also a blank face to the rest of us so we can consider your motives as well. -
Unless the OP modified their original post I have no idea how this answers their question or applies at all.

It really has little to do with how things used to be, and truth be told, little to do with my personally wanting a little variety. With the very high price of the premium package, one should be able to have more to choose from than two cabernets for example. And Celebrity promotes itself as being superior in wine options. I guess that's true if you want to spend $100+ per bottle every night. That's the real issue.

If you got good travel insurance it would cost you a lot less than $1000!
