  1. Wondering if there are stores within walking distance of the port terminal to pick up some pop prior to departure?
  2. They are associated with Costco, however, they were just recommended to a friend through an independent travel agent. We used them during Alaskan cruise for whale watching excursion. Excellent guides, small group, equipment well maintained and very clean. Others going out on the 2nd small boat with this company, stated they had booked through the mouse cruise itself. Also used for a train excursion and was simply a separate car from the other cruise line cars using the same engine. Again, excellent, knowledgeable narrator. I am in the process of comparing their excursions in Hawaii for our upcoming trip. Like everything these days, you need to compare prices and details to see if it fits what you want. I would have no hesitation booking through them if it fit what I wanted and the price was right!
  3. How do you find out where your ship will be anchored when in port? I may be using incorrect terminology as my searches have been fruitless. I am specifically looking for assignments in Hawaii October 2019. Thank you for your help.
  4. We have that same time frame coming up in October! Just booked guided "Circle Island Tour" from Hawaii Jeep Tours for hubby & I. The points that led me to booking: we can both take in all the sights as the local guide drives/narrates for 6 hours, it hits the places we are interested in seeing, some customizing is possible, pick-up at port terminal, price, reviews on well known trip review site. This is our first time to the islands and we want to take in all that we can with a minimum amount of stress.

    Ideas for Maui?

How do you find out which port terminal the ship is using? Are there multiple ports on each island? First visit to Hawaii.
  6. What is the best way to contact for free tickets? There also has been mention of a small fee for a timed ticket slot, is that through the same site as the free tickets?
  7. We have a 2 day stop in Oahu, Sunday/Monday in October and are looking for Pearl Harbor tour options that include both the Arizona & Missouri. The HOHO Trolley seemed as option but reviews were very mixed. Another tour company picked up at many hotels beginning at 6am and gave the impression that a lot of time was spent on the vehicle picking up. After some hours of searching I decided to inquire here versus reinventing the wheel.
  8. We cruised the inner passage last year with double Denali- no guide. We were very happy that we purchased the meal plan! Not having to search for a place to eat when tired and hungry plus transportation to an eatery was well worth it for us. Also, meal prices, while not surprising, would have found us ordering by price instead of meal desire and additionally adding gratuities. The 3 course meal was so filling we could have easily purchased just one meal package, shared meals and left additional gratuity for the server. As mentioned above, it is all about personal preference/choice. One other bit of information we were told last year, there are a limited number of meal packages sold. It was apparent from our table mates, the meal package is not well known. Denali park bus tour was the highlight of our trip - grizzly and cubs passing through the rest area found some folks scurrying to the toilets and others back to the bus. Have a great adventure!
  9. We used Shore Excursions Group during our Alaskan cruise and were thoroughly satisfied with their service on 3 of 3 excursions. Guides were outstanding with both knowledge and service and equipment was well maintained. For the Whitehorse rail trip, it appeared that those of us who booked through SEG were simply on a different car than those who booked through the ship (at a savings in cost). We took a whale watching excursion and a family in our group from a Disney ship, who said they had booked through their ship, were in our group on the SEG excursion. Like everything else, you need to comparison shop and take time to read the reviews. What is unacceptable for one person to write a negative review, maybe something you wouldn't give a thought.

  11. Totally agree that comparing is worth the time. While HAL's air was the same as we could find on line, by booking through them we received a voucher for transportation between the airport & ship at each end of the trip, worth $100. Also saved on hotel night on both ends of the trip, worth $325, which in turn means 2 less nights of kennel expense for our fur babies.
  12. We have booked the train/bus excursion and I have been trying to track comments to get an idea of where to sit for best photo opps. Comments seem to be contradictory with the most recent I've seen, prior to yours, being to 'sit on the left going up and right side coming down'. Is it possible there is another train/bus combination that is getting mixed up with White Pass?
  13. Wondering if the docking location in the various ports is available prior to cruise? If so, where do you find that information?
