no, only 1 person need upgrade. as soon as we board, my wife rushes down to IT. me, i'm on a cruise,on vacation, and there is no one i want to talk to that badly where i need to upgrade. in 30 cruises, i havent bothered to use the wi-fi even once. if i need to know the dodgers score, i have the missus look it up.

@bones774 thanks, that at least explains a little. while i'm not knocking the dinner, we're diamond, and this is one perk, i'll always take a pass. i dont like eating with strangers.
-
@bones774 so your post begs the question, why didnt any of the officers that you were dining with, say anything to the waiter?

@BLJ1 Last april, my wife and i took the 17 day cruise on the star from rio to lisbon, not as many sea days, a few more ports. the weather was perfect. by the way, we got a tremendous deal on a 2 bedroom, even though we didnt need that big of a cabin. that being said, however couldnt pass up the price. my advice is go for it. just remember it's not going to be "hot" mild, temperate, but not hot. by the way, the star is definitely "NOT" a newer ship!

fyi! i'm 77 years old, and a vietnam vet. i never asked for the discount, but i'd be foolish to turn it down. my wife, however, gets a 10% discount on suites/haven, and a 20% discount for any cabin below a suite, as a member of Cesar's entertainment rewards program.(CAS) for those of you that dont come under any ncl discount programs (and if you have the cojones) to wait it out, i find that after the 120 final payment date passes, the fares do go down (which is almost as good as a discount, pricewise) and to our potential dinner companion @grouchomarx, you have my deepest respect for your years in cancer research the world needs more people like you

ncl is not a believer in the adage "if it aint broke, dont fix it"! FAS+ was so much better of a value, and so much more comprehensive, why they had to go and mess with it, and why ncl is trying so hard to convince us MAS is a much better package all around, is beyond me

Waterslides and Diabetes Sensors and Ports
complawyer replied to IrishCowboy's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
@IrishCowboy if that's what you really want to do, i hope they allow it, but my questions is even if they say ok, why would you even want to risk it? There are so many other things to do. -
most ncl ships have the splash academy, which is amazing for kids.

@The Traveling Man you're showing your age, and he never returned

wow! if you've had that much to drink on a cruise ship that you cant find your way back to your cabin, i'd hate to think what would happen if you were booked into a major hotel in las vegas, like the mgm grand, cesar's palace, or the venetian. you could be lost for days, and possibly never to be seen or heard from again

in that case, i think i'll stick with panda express

we had a b2b a few years back, londen to copenhagen, copenhagen to stockholm. 19 days. in copenhagen, my wife and our traveling buddy, got off for a few hours to go shopping. i went down earlier to have the room key updated, and after that never left the cabin. i had the steward just clean around me, while i layed on the couch and read my kindle. no problems, and no one said anything

we were on the dawn just last november.. 21 days barcelona to capetown. interesting itinerary, no real problems being on the ship that long. had a 2 bedroom suite, enjoyed the concierge and butler, cabin steward was outstanding, le bistro took over from cagney's as my favorite, and even los lobos scored some points. we ate at los lobos on the prima in sept, and i commented in an earlier post, el torito had nothing to worry about. even taco bell wasnt sweating it! LOL on the dawn, imho, los lobos was 100% better (loved the mexican coffee) even went back for a glass even if we werent eating there.

Which were your NCL favorite cruises ?
complawyer replied to scubacruiserx2's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
we've been on 30 ncl cruises since each ship, each port, each part of the world has it's own unique charm, mystiq, and personality, it would be a tossup to pick a favorite. is venice preferable to rome, is dubrovnik more interesting than reykjavik, is brugge prettier than amsterdam. we've been to all these places and more, and each an every one has its own charm. i can truly say, we've never had a bad cruise, anywhere. some had minor annoyances, but not significant enough to complain. i have posted many times throughout the years, that my only complaint of any significance, is that my hamburger buns always fall apart before im finished . if anything, i was most delighted with both venice and brugge. i'd got back to either in a heartbeat -
technically, ncl's policy is NO! door decorations. in reality, they wont kick you off the ship, and there is really no penalty, other than they may confiscate the decoration. you'll probably see many doors decorated, but the bottom line is it's a violation of ncl policy

BA+ Studio cabin for doing hair and makeup?
complawyer replied to grouchomarx's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
@ColeThornton dear mr thorton: thank you for your concern. After 56 years of marriage, i can assure you if it's just using the 2nd cabin to fix her makeup, my wife would not care less. it's an empty cabin, we store our luggage there, and utilize the 2nd bathroom. besides, I already checked with the missus, she's on board, and AOK with the idea. while i concede that i'm probably one of the least friendly passengers on board, my wife has this uncanny knack of making friends with any/everyone. she would be appalled if she found out someone (ie grouchomarx) had to eat by herself, and would insist that she join us. i however on many of our cruises, have been voted "most likely to be thrown overboard" LOL -
@BostonGal35 not many ncl ships have the commodore. as I previously posted. if youve booked a non-haven suite, breakfast is in moderno, lunch at cagney's. if youre booked into a haven suite that doesnt feature it's own restaurant, same dining arrangement. as an aside, we were onthe prima last oct, and in the haven lounge, the concierge has a complete desk set up for bookings, questions, etc.

BA+ Studio cabin for doing hair and makeup?
complawyer replied to grouchomarx's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
@grouchomarx if you're going to join us for dinner, you are more than welcome to use the 2nd bedroom in our suite, to get ready LOL! (especially if it's only going to take you 25 minutes). while you're getting ready, i'll see if i can get the butler to bring up 3 glasses of champagne -
the concierge, is the concierge, is the concierge. on any ncl vessel, where i had the choice of a haven, or a suite, i opted to save the few grand and book the suite. the rooms are almost identical, if you book the "suite" instead of the haven restaurant, you will be able to eat breakfast in modernos and lunch in cagneys. the rest of the perks, including the butler service are the same. i believe mscdivinia is 100% mistaken. never had any problem with contacting the concierge. they give you their business card and are usually available. please dont attempt to argue, this is from personal experience on over 10 cruises both in haven and a suite.

@onthewebi wouldnt go that far! LOL

just curious. your heading indicates a "surprise engagement" if she happens to read your post, isnt the surprise ruined? these days, most cell phones can take amazing, professional grade photos. santorini is a spectacular back ground. try doing it by yourself. i have taken some amazing pictures around the world, with only my cell phone. i have even stopped bringing my 35mm and all the attachments. regardless, good luck, and i hope your photos come out great, and the adjacent memories live on.
