  1. I love the way they look, and see them everywhere these days, including on cruises. That said, I can't wear them, either, because they don't offer any arch support, and I have high arches and have to have something that accommodates those. But super cute, practical, go with everything, and if they work for you, I'd definitely take them on your next cruise.
  2. And we'd love a picture from the night you wear it if you don't mind coming back to post!
  3. This is a spectacular photo! Thanks for sharing.
  4. Given all of this additional detail, I'm in the "take it, wear it, and rock it" camp.
  5. Another trip down memory lane. We walked all around, met a local man who welcomed us into his house so we could see the view back down to the water from his back porch, and saw some of these same buildings. And Prins Kristiansound is the prettiest spot I've seen so far. So glad your weather cooperated!
  6. Loved seeing these pictures! They bring back great memories of our stop on Qaqortoq a few years ago. This and the Shetland Islands were two of our favorites ports on that In the Wake of the Vikings crossing. Good luck with tonight's dinner service.
  7. No, but it's nice to fantasize about it...I remember when the quiet cars first came on line on the Acela between DC and NYC. Heaven!
  8. I've never been on a VO sailing that offered a Laundry tour. Would love to see pictures if you have the time to post.
  9. That's interesting that you mention the butter...I may be misremembering, but I believe @Clay Clayton did mention something along the same lines...seemed to him that perhaps the butter was a little less than in earlier versions. He'll correct me if I'm wrong. In any case, glad that you found them to be pretty good!
  10. How were the scones? There were reports from a few earlier sailings - I'm looking at you, @Clay Clayton 😉 - that they were different and not as amazing. Wondering if you found them to your taste/liking?
  11. Sorry about the error on the cake. It's so good that you spotted it in time! I hope you were able to enjoy some of it, because it looks fabulous. Really enjoying your updates and pictures so far.
  12. Excellent point. We do tend to go in a day ahead even when the ship is in port overnight, as a way to try to maximize the time we'll get on the ship in case something goes wrong. But that overnight in port does give a margin of safety that accomplishes the same thing.
  13. 100% agree. Our very first Viking experience was a European river cruise many years ago, long before they had an Ocean product. It was just fine, but in comparison to the Ocean cruises we've taken since, we far prefer the Ocean experience, FWIW.
  14. I've flown into San Juan several times on the American flight, and have always had good luck with it - knock wood. Anything can happen, though, so I'd underscore @Jim Avery's comments about arriving at least one day early. And we liked the Bacardi tour, as well.
  15. This was our experience, as well. Barcelona is a wonderful city to visit, but as others have said, Madrid itself is worth sometime, and it makes a great home base for day trips to other towns and sites. We spent six days based in Madrid on our first trip to Spain and still talk about some of the meals we had and places we got to go.
  16. Clay, I couldn't agree with this more. There's literally nothing they could do on the ship that I can think of that would be a good enough reason to miss the Taj. It's impossible to put into words what makes it so special, but you guys have to go.
  17. Many insurance companies will usually refill your prescription every 25 days. If you faithfully pick up your new prescription at 25 days, by the end of the year you will have a 60-day back up supply of your medications. You may not have enough time to accumulate the extra 60 day supply this way, depending on when your cruise departs. I second @LHT28 recommendation to talk to your doctor and whichever pharmacy you normally use to help sort this out. And, the private pay option mentioned by @mom says is generally a pretty straightforward solution, if that's a viable option for you.
  18. Whoo Hoo!! This is so terrific. I was waiting all week to see if you had pulled the trigger. Happy dance all around!
  19. Couldn't agree with this more! If you're able to be there overnight, and have the chance to do this, it's one of the best experiences ever.
  20. If your niece is anything like you and Mike, she would not only completely understand, she'd be the first to encourage you to celebrate with her when you're back!
  21. This is so exciting! Really glad to see that you guys are about to pull the trigger on this. I know it's been on the bucket list for awhile now. Good luck with your cabin selection.
  22. I had no idea. I've always heard it used in relation to hurricane season. thanks for clarifying.
  23. So what does the "September remember" part mean, in that case? That it's important to remember that September is the worst month for hurricanes?
  24. This just breaks my heart. That was a special tree. (Along with everything else that has been lost, of course.)
