    Iceland - questions answered

Loved Iceland. Went in May 2016 and drove the circle tour around the island. Seydisfjordur was great. What a view from above! Only disappointment was the restaurant we planned on having lunch was closed. Just ate at a gas station nearby. Looking forward to this cruise in 2019. Want to see Akureyri again. Still thinking about what to do in Reykjavik. Glenn Sent from my iPad using Forums

  6. Agree. Let’s look at the positives Glenn Sent from my iPad using Forums
  7. Some of the other cruise line web sites also have issues. Glenn Sent from my iPad using Forums
  8. Everything worked for me this morning. Able to check out my booking and it showed. Can’t do any history, because this is my first HAL cruise. If something doesn’t work keep letting them know to fix it. Glenn Sent from my iPad using Forums
  9. I think that is why they didn’t do a full blown release. They want the 10% to find the glitches. And we are finding them Glenn Sent from my iPad using Forums
  10. Talked to customer service on March 30th. They have rolled out the new web site to only 10% of their users. They are aware of the glitches and working on them. Hope to have it working smoothly in a few days. I am on3 of the 10%, so I was confused when others didn’t see what I was seeing. I see a change in my itinerary for Sep 3, 2019 cruise, but those with old site didn’t. Actually, there is no change. I also can not see my booking. I was told all we be fixed in a few days. Another cruise line I use rolled out a new site over a year ago and they still have glitches. Hopefully HAL will get it right ina few days. Sent from my iPad using Forums

    Naples area guide recommendations

We wanted to experience the Amalfi Coast and used, Marcello Maresco, a driver/guide. He was recommended to me by a friend. We decided to skip Pompeii this trip, but he will take you there if desired. Marcello picked us up at the Port of Naples and headed down to Sorrento where we started our drive along this beautiful coast. Marcello will take you where you want and let you shop, but we were interested in a more authentic experience of the area where he was raised. We had many photo stops and a chance to see some sights off the beaten path, including, the typical gardens of lemon trees, grape vines and veggies that where once very common. Also interesting was a stop at a church in Sorrento to show us a very unusual nativity (a model of a Italian village from the past) and a church with beautiful hand carved woodwork. And also a bathroom stop. For lunch he took us to a small town on the coast and a restaurant with a grand view down a gorge to the sea. There we were served a typical lunch with local ingredients and wonderful flavors. From there we headed to Ravello and then a stop at an excavation of a Roman Villa that was buried at the same time as Pompeii. Marcello was our guide here and very knowledgeable about this site. This was where the wealthy lived overlooking the site of Pompeii. It is not as in compassing as Pompeii, but very interesting and we only needed 45 minutes. I was also pleased that he had a new Mercedes van with side windows that opened for picture taking along the road. 12. Looks like smooth sailing weather today from your bridge cam.:)
  13. I meant: "It is unfortunate that some people aren't more respectful to each other." I should proofread more carefully before posting!!
  14. Looked at the bridge cam on the Star today. Seas look a little choppy, maybe waves a couple of feet high with few white caps. that can't be too bad. The port cam at the Falklands showed very calm water and sunny skies. hope that bodes well for tomorrow when you are there. Enjoying your blog about your cruise. It is unfortunate that some people are more respectful to each other. I'm sure we have all seen some juvenile behavior on vacations and not just from juveniles. Are you doing a Patric Watts tour in the Falklands?
  15. That is the tour we are doing. We leave for Basel on Nov 29th, but do not board the Harmony until Dec 2nd. Wow, we went away for a weekend and this thread exploded!!:D Looks of good ideas about clothing and packing. I am still catching up on reading all the posts. Glenn
