  1. I think the reason people say "three football fields" is due to the specs on the ship. Front tip to tail, she is 1,070 feet long. However, it is a pretty easy walk if you take the aft elevators and go up to deck 16, and just walk along the sundeck to the Haven entrance on the port side.
  2. Here are some pictures from Harvest Caye for you. The first is a poolside cabana we rented. The rest are self-explanatory.
  3. NCL robes. These were in a Haven room. They provided slippers too.
  4. We have had a few smaller ships come in here during weather emergencies. The city supplied trolleys to get everyone from the docks to the River Street/Bay Street/City Market tourist areas. I think the businesses and city government would love it if some bigger ships came. Last year for St. Patrick's Day, the paper said there were almost a million visitors here in town for the parade and festivities. So they definitely know how to handle the crowds.
  5. Wonderful review. So sorry for your missed ports. Hopefully your next cruise will be full of adventuresome excursions, and many pairs of pants!
  6. Depends how far you like to walk. Does not look like there is much on Google maps.
  7. That's a shame, because Charleston is an awesome place to visit. They say we have the same problem taking in big ships here in Savannah, which I cannot understand since we get some of the largest container ships in the world in our cargo port, which is actually upriver from the cruise port! We had the 13,092-TEU Neopanamax containership Cosco Development, which is 100 feet longer than the newest US aircraft carrier, come here in 2017, and it had no issues with the draft of the river and fitting under the bridge. Don't understand why the BA ships would not fit.
  8. As someone who lives in the southeast, I agree. I would much rather have a stop in Charleston, SC than Canaveral. But I do not know if that would be an option for NCL. I know Carnival has Charleston as an embarkation port.
  9. The NDR webcam is such a good quality. Can actually see the windows moving past the crane structure!
  10. Believe me, if I could afford it, I would skip The Haven as well and do this: Savannah
  11. Again, it is all a matter of personal choice. Everyday I drive into work, I pass by people with their huge pickup trucks, BMWs, Corvettes, etc. while I drive my little Chevy sedan. To them, I am sure the $50k + they paid for a vehicle was well worth it. To me, it is a colossal waste of money. I would rather save my money by driving a less-expensive, conservative car and pamper the DW and I with a Haven cruise every couple of years. It's just our choice.
  12. Just noticed that the Breakaway is in port tonight in San Juan, PR with TS Karen hitting the island. YIKES! Would NOT want to be on that cruise!
  13. I just checked CruiseMapper and it shows the Breakaway in port at San Juan. Must be an interesting night. Supposed to sail away in five hours to St. Thomas. Glad I am not on that cruise! Oops! Sorry Bill, just noticed your post. Great minds.... 😁
  14. I could see this coming next: "I am sorry sir, did you actually want air in your cabin? That will be $25/day".
  15. If I pay for first class on an aircraft, should my friends or family traveling with me in coach get the same free drinks, hot towel, hot meal, pre-board, etc.? Of course not. You get what you pay for.
