  1. LL, Thanks so much for starting this thread. Just what the armchair doctor ordered!
  2. The journey continues... One of the greatest things I've gained from the experience is not one, but actually three great friends. And I don't use the term 'great friends' lightly. I met a lovely couple early on in the voyage, and we've stayed in close touch ever since. They live only about a 2-hour drive, and I've been to see them a number of times at their home. Twice since COVID, with outside visits which were very carefully and safely planned/implemented. They're such a delight, and I feel so incredibly fortunate. I also made great friends with a fantastic lady who lives in Manh
  3. TheOldBear, You’re so right. It was a crazy amount of luggage, and I’m definitely considering the luggage forwarding service for the next ship trip. Germancruiser, I agree. It’s difficult to decide between the two movies. After reading so many books and first-hand accounts of the sinking, I had so many of the stories combined into my mind into a sort of imagined timeline of the fateful evening. And then to have all of that I had imagined actually on screen in the modern version, and then so very much more was…well. Overwhelming. CateW, I’m so glad it brought back great
  4. I was going through my pics, and I had difficulty finding pics of anything you all probably haven’t already seen before. But here are a few. I still can’t get over how kind it was of the florists to deliver these flowers for the cabin. The lilies smelled amazing, and lasted for quite a number of days. The first boutonniere to arrive was a beautiful white rose, which was intended for the first formal night, and my midnight blue tux. I’ve never seen a more beautiful rose. Stunning. Until I proceeded to break it with my big fingers. Popped right off the stem. Here’s a
  5. Thank you all for such kind and encouraging comments. It means a lot. I’m currently in the process of pulling together a continuation of that initial blog entry, and I hope to include answers to all of the thoughtful questions you’ve asked. I tend towards being overly self-critical of my own writing, so it may take a while. To answer a few questions now, before departing the ship I had an appointment with the wonderful Yo-Yo in the Travel Office on the last sea day of the voyage, and I booked my next QM2 adventure for December of 2021. I’m not sure if it’ll happen. We all know how
  6. I travelled on the Queen Mary 2 a little over a year ago in early November 2019, from Hamburg to New York. This was my very first time experiencing a ship adventure. I booked the journey more than one year and four months before sailing, and in that time I researched the heck out of it. And, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of that research time. I read tons of blogs and watched countless videos. I read numerous articles and almost too many reviews. I perused through many wonderful online picture collections of the ship. I love it when you can enjoy the research nearly as much as
  7. My Grandfather was a stevedore working on Cunard's Manhattan docks.
  8. Correct. They were right outside my stateroom, and I tried to take them as often as possible.
  9. This one isn't too difficult to identify, but I thought to include it here as it's such a lovely angle, and from what I think is such a fun vantage point.
  10. bluemarble, You kill me. 😂 I picture you sitting at your computer with a Sherlock Holmes style hat on your head and a pipe dangling from your mouth. Excellent deduction, sir.
  11. Could it be a Punch Romaine a la Carpathia?
  12. Made the muffins again. So yum. Finally remembered to take a pic.
  13. I have a fear of heights, so taking that pic was equal parts terrifying and exciting.
  14. Champagne flight in the Champagne Bar. I indulged in one on my last full day at sea last year. Delicious, especially with a side of sliced strawberries. Hope you enjoyed!

  16. I didn't use a piping bag. Spoon worked great. No worries. They were so perfectly moist. Please share a pic after you make them. Would love to see how they come out for you.
  17. Correct! Behind the scenes tour.
  18. Here's an unusual one to try out. Hint: We were given permission to take only very limited pics here.
  19. I was pleased with how the muffins turned out, as well. Again, super easy/quick. I didn't bother with the butter cream icing...didn't seem to need it. How to make Cunard Bakewell Muffins. Ingredients This recipe makes eight muffins.
  20. I've made them a few times now, and each time they've turned out great. So so happy with this recipe. Super easy/quick, too.
  21. QM2 forward/port staircase on Deck 7 near the Fitness Center connecting the Canyon Ranch Spa reception area to the Canyon Rach Spa Beauty Salon on Deck 8.
  22. Probably not the first, but looking forward to the most in the Commodore Club: Kir Royale Punch Romaine a la Carpathia Large snifter of equal parts Cointreau and Amaretto
  23. I just posted this on a similar thread for Dublin: I was going to book "Secret Food Tours Dublin", and I'm sure if would have been great. But then I happened upon a really wonderful blog from "French Foodie in Dublin" http://www.frenchfoodieindublin.com/ who also has a really wonderful food tour: Delicious Dublin Tours https://deliciousdublintours.com/. The owner, Ketty is quite fantastic. Highly recommended! What is your port(s) of call in Scotland?
