  1. We would all love to know, by the way it was Silversea guest services not my Travel Agent that said there were no changes planned! seems like the left hand and the right hand do not know what the other is doing! We did Cape Town to Lisbon last year with Regent and apart from Namibia which we have visited three times in the last couple of years some of the African ports are not somewhere I would hurry back to but may be no alternative. I hope the turn will be made after Mumbai
  2. I requested that my travel agent telephoned Silversea re this and they say that there are no changes apart from the April change that dropped Haifa and disembarked in Athens instead, We are on the three legs from Perth and there are an awful lot of sea days at the moment without adding more. One of the main reasons we booked was Sri Lanka and India so we will wait and see what they come up with - if anything.
  3. Another thing I was thinking about is that will anyone be able to get travel insurance for this area as many countries will not insure you in high risk areas where their government say it could be dangerous to go there. We just disembarked from Silver Whisper last week in Singapore and the ship is traveling to the Med empty via Cape Town and even then I believe it is going around the West coast of Africa not through the Red Sea
  4. We are doing three segments of the World Cruise next year from Perth to what was Haifa now Athens. I see that the ship is still sailing through the Red Sea and Suez Canal and playing dodge the Houthi's and everyone else in the vicinity who would love to sink a Cruise ship full of Americans and other nationalities. I know that it would be a huge logistical problem for Silversea to change the itinerary but wondered what others feel? Other cruise lines such as Regent cancelled all their cruises through that area for next year many months ago but Silversea seem to want to keep this routing. The only small concession that they made recently was to cancel Haifa and continue to Athens. The flights will be available fairly soon and it will be interesting to see if this will be their cut off point for a decision.
  5. I wonder if anyone has heard anything about any planned amendments to the current itinerary for this cruise and any possible major changes as we are booked on three segments from Perth to Haifa, and as the current situation is showing no sign of settling down. I see that Regent and other cruise lines have rerouted their cruises away from the red sea area for spring 2026 completely. There is no sign as far as I can tell that Silversea are doing the same. I know that it will be a logistical nightmare for them but better the booked guests are given the opportunity to review any options sooner rather than into next year.
  6. We are currently booked on three segments of the 2026 world cruise from Perth to Haifa from March to May. I have just noticed that Regent have rerouted one of their grand voyages that was going from Port Louis to Rome in feb 2026 and now will be going around the west coast of Africa instead of through the Suez Canal. I wonder how long Silversea are going to wait until they have to rearrange everything, it would be nice to know as soon as possible. All the countries in the area may be friends again by then of course ... but there again they may not be! It must be a huge headache for the cruise companies. We did the west coast of Africa with Regent earlier this year and would not be keen on doing it again but there may be no alternative.
  7. Now that the prices have been released I have another trawl through the cruises and only found one that I liked just a little until I looked at the price! the Door to Door price was £3800 MORE than the Port to Port per person for economy flights and transfers, one of these flights was only a two hour flight from London to Lisbon the other from Canada to London. I know I could look at the PtP price and book my own but I like the convenience. I had to look at the calendar to make sure that it was not April Fools Day! No one in their right mind is going to pay these prices. There is a lot of competition around and unless there are huge reductions they will get very little take up on these new voyages because of duration, samey ports and cost.
  8. Looks pretty boring to me, not much different from any other line, same old destinations and a lot of short voyages. And no prices on my listing either. Hopefully this is just a starter for 2026 and a lot more to come.
  9. You think you have problems! we are flying to Cape Town tomorrow to board Mariner on Saturday and one of the ports still has no excursions at all to offer in Mindelo (Sao Vicente) and three of the excursions that I wanted at other ports are all waitlisted even though I tried to book them the minute they became available. Whenever I contacted Regent about them they informed me that Miami office was to blame and they would be released soon.
  10. We disembarked on Sunday and this was by far the poorest Silversea Cruise we have ever experienced, we were only on for two weeks and if it had been our first Silversea Cruise we would have great reservations about booking another. Many issues about very limited and poor and repetitive menu in Main restaurant, only three main courses, a couple of starters and one dessert on the daily changing menu. I had a word with Oliver the manager and he said it was to prevent waste! And it was head office that devised the new menu. The service was intermittent in quality, we waited over two and a quarter hours one evening for two courses, which when they arrived were not even what we ordered, it took half an hour to even get the menu and as long for a glass of water. The ship seems a little tired and generally Silversea stating that they provide a six star experience is a bit of a joke. I agree that the communication was very poor and feel very sorry for the way the people on grand voyage have been treated. We were on a group of 23 and the general opinion of many of our group was that it was very poor and not a great experience.
  11. We are booked on the Navigator for a Cruise from Abu Dhabi to Athens in April, Regent insists that it is going ahead despite everything that is happening around the area. I see that Silversea are cancelling their Cruises so I wonder if eventually Regent will follow. There have been many people cancel this Cruise and there seems to be lots and lots of empty suites. At least if it does go ahead there will be fantastic service!! Wonder if we will be issued with flak jackets!. I find that American Cruise lines usually tend to be overprotective if anything so I will wait and see.
  12. Must be the third cruise director in two months! we returned home from Auckland on 20th December after a six week Cruise, the first one we had was an American called JP or something like that, the second was an English lad from Leeds called Aaron I think, now another one!! not a lot of continuity going on.
  13. What a con this is, we have two booked cruises this year, one has had the price reduced by 30% and a two cat upgrade, the other has a two cat upgrade offer. I had my travel agent contact them - the first one that we are going on in April and have to pay the balance soon they offered a one cat upgrade from G to F and I would save £13 but lose my £400 on board spend and the suites offered were in a very noisy position on the ship with several complaints about these suites. The other one was the two cat free upgrade and was informed that it would cost us an extra £2000 per person! as they say the priced have increased a little since we booked.
  14. We are on the same Orion cruise and I would like to add a little amendment. There is a sum total of No Australian whites or reds on the SS package, there is one Austrian white, and at the moment (as of last night) No New Zealand wines, they had one white but ran out ages ago! No Chilean wines on the package and they ran out of the Italian red that I like days and days ago. Every time they reprint the list there are fewer to choose from, oh and one of the Californian whites was finished as well many days ago. We may be getting some fresh stocks soon they inform me as some arrived in Darwin apparently.
  15. Just received an email from Regent that our Cruise for next year will have several changes so Regent and a lot of other people do not think that things will settle down for a long time. Jordan and Israel cancelled and replaced with Sharm El Sheikh and Santorini, damn shame as these were the ports I really wanted to go to and never want to go to Sharm, but never mind at least the Cruise is still on and hope that Egypt does not join the conflict.
