  1. Highly recommend Radical Adventures. Spent the day in January with Captain Matt and his crew. It was an absolutely perfect day!! http://www.svfreeradical.com/
  2. Yes - they are!!! It will be a fabulous day with them!
  3. We loved Random Wind last summer - however, I can’t wait to get back to St. Maarten to spend the day with Captain Stafan with Boomerang SXM. Check out his website and Facebook page. https://www.boomerangsxm.com
  4. Highly recommend Random Wind. We have a fantastic day with them a few weeks ago!
  5. One thing to consider - you might be arriving as others are leaving to get back to the ships. The ferry only holds about 30 people at the most - try to get there at least 20 minutes early. Check out the schedule on their website. http://www.waterislandferry.com/ Final tip - drinks were better at Dinghy’s and food better at Heidi’s.
  6. We got there early in the morning so we didn’t have any problem with chairs/umbrellas. There were 2 catamarans during the day but they were closer to Heidi’s. We sat at Dinghy’s and while people came throughtout the day - I never really noticed a seating issue. It is a beautiful beach and I highly recommend.
  7. We just returned from our cruise - Random Winds was fantastic! We have perfect weather - bright clear day. Our day included a stop at Mullet Bay - just gorgeous water and beach. We spent about an hour there - snorkeling, playing in water and finally a terrific lunch. Curried chicken with coconut rice. We only had a taste of amberjack fish - due to it being bitten in half by shark! I don’t know the name of the second beach but yet another clear water beach that we enjoyed the water and the trapeze. This was my favorite excursion of the cruise and hope to sail with them again If you’re considering this company - hurry and book! You won’t regret it!
  8. I believe the cost was $119 for the 5 hour trip.
  9. Having never been to the island I can’t really compare any of the beaches. I based my decision on availability of chairs/umbrellas, food & drinks, restrooms and the overall vibe of the beach. I was really looking for a one stop shop! I also checked out reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp.
  10. I'm currently planning our day for next week. My plan is to take a taxi to Crown Bay Marina then Water Ferry ($5/pp each way) over to the island. Dinghy's Beach Bar has a free shuttle to the beach. the chairs and umbrellas are free in front of Dinghy's and Heidi's - they just ask that you eat or drink. I didn't really look for excursions as I didn't really want a set schedule for the day. Rachel's Golf Cart rental has a very good website with lots of info. www.rachaelsrentals.com
  11. I am so glad to see Random Wind back in business! We are considering their Paradise Day Sail on 8/24/18. Currently we (hubby & I) are the only ones interested in this tour. If you are looking for catamaran tour - take a look at her website (www.randomwind.com) and the TripAdvisor reviews - (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147350-d1014743-Reviews-Random_Wind-Simpson_Bay_Sint_Maarten_St_Martin_St_Maarten.html A total of at least 8 people are required to run the tour - so hopefully we can get 6 more and we'll see you on the 24th!
  12. We will be in port on August 24th (Freedom of the Seas) and trying to find catamaran trip for our day in St Maarten. I'm trying to find more of a private charter vibe without the private charge price tag! I did find one - Adventure Sports Sailing he appears to do only private charters but does have a very good Around the island tour for individual bookings at $125/pp. He has really great reviews on TripAdvisor and his website www.stmaatencharters.com says: Experience some of the finest sailing and snorkeling in the turquoise waters of St. Maarten. Our 45 foot catamaran offers scheduled and customized private charters. The open plan configuration, large deck and trampoline areas provide expansive space and seating for a number of guests. All of our full day sailing charters include scrumptious hot lunch with salads, drinks, fishing rods, snorkel equipment and great music. If you are interested, check out the website and reviews for Adventure Sports Sailing on TripAdvisor and then contact him. He is very responsive to emails. Hopefully we can get a few more people on board for the trip. It looks to be a wonderful day trip on the water.
