Hello from Germany! I´ve contacted Cunard yesterday for some questions. Beside this I´ve asked (just for fun) about a possible upgrade. They asked me if I have choosen the upgrade option when booking (Premium). I did not do that so they marked the option for me now. I have already a cabin number so when would I see an upgrade and is this the usually form? Thanks, Thorsten As always....sorry for my English😇

Thanks for the great infos. We will have a private shuttle from A Coruna to Santiago de Compostella and also a private local tour guide in Lisbon for the day in port. We always try to do so because we can choose someone who speaks German. Counting the days until then.....

We travelled the transatlantic route with QM2 and the Baltic route with QV. Both with our daughters 22 and 17 years old. First they were a little bit "nervous" about it (different language) but they really, really liked both tours. They were "the stars" during the transatlantic cruise, because our daughters were the youngest guest on board and everyone recognized them and said "Hello Hannah and Lea". There were a lot more younger people and childen during the Baltic cruise and it was fun also. By the way my youngest daughter said yesterday that she misses Cunard and all of the stuff and guests so much. Expecially "Do you want more tea....more tea?"😄

They were onboard our TA from NY to Hamburg in October last year and even for us German speaking people the performances were very impressiv. I remembering sitting in the theater watching a performance of "Shackleton's Carpenter". I did not unterstand everything but the acting was awesome. I would love to see them again in the future.

We stayed at the Knickerbocker Hotel pre to our first TA trip in October last year. You are very close to Times Square so in the middle of the seightseeing madness. It was a good and for the location quite hotel but it was not a 5 star hotel comparing to other hotels.

This would be my answer to the question: AIDA or Cunard Even as a German (and AIDA is a German company) I know on which ships we stay.....

Thats a good point and exactly my thoughts for not booking the saver fare. But on the other hand we save 2.440 Euros which is a lot of money. We will spend some of that money for a pre stay in Hamburg (with a musical). I would not risk this fare for longer cruises. I guess we will be on deck 1 at the front near the theatre because there are some cabins free at the moment. But we are happy to be back onboard anyway.

Baltic Cruise with QV booked in Saver/Smart fare !! Can not wait to be back onboard QV.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the confusion about the Smart/Premium price. Seems to be the German types. I have contacted Cunard about that and they told me that the main differences (besides the onboard credit) are 1. The cabins may be not close to another 2. The Dinner/Sitting times may be not the same and 3. The Shuttlebusses in some towns will cost $10 a person oneway But will this be worth 2.500 Euros more? I do not think so. 1. My dauhters may be happy not to have the cabin close to us 😀and we are together all the day on deck. 2. I guess if I would ask on board to chance the dining times they will not check if we have booked smart or premium. And isn´t there an open dining slot on the QV ? 3. We used a shuttle bus once in Southhampton and no one ever asked us about a booked tarif. So after all I guess I will save the money and spend it at the bar and go for smart (saver).

First of all a Happy New Year from Germany! We are actually planning our next cruise with the QV in July 2023 (Nothern Europe and Baltic V320B). The Smart Price will be 2.000 Euros cheaper than the Premium Price for all 4 of us together. This is a lot of money and is it worth to book the Premium price for choosing a cabin, chosing the sitting times and $175 onboard credit per person ($500 for all of us)? We are World Club Member "Gold" so perhaps we can get some advantages from this instead? I have never booked "Smart" so I am really looking forward to your opinion and experiences when booking "Smart" Thanks! Thorsten

Merry Christmas from Germany !

We were on both ships this year. A Norway tour with QV and a TA with QM2 and I have to say that I love the QV a little bit more. Why? The atmosphere is more familiar in my opinion. It is a smaller ship and more compact than the QM2. Everything which is hugh on QM2 is smaller and cosier on QV. I love the theater more at QV and the Lido restaurant is better planned with way more windows to sit. If you like a more packed and familiar athmosphere than the QV is better. But.....the QM2 is more...more stable. I had some seasickness on the Norway tour but nothing on the TA. It was interesting for me also to compare these two ships because we only traveled with the QM2 before. If I would choose a ship for a world cruise (which we really plan to do in some years) I go for the QV.

I have to say that I am a little bit dissapointed about the maiden voyage of Queen Anne. It seems that there will be no meeting with one of the other Queens on that voyage.

We did an TA with our two girls (22 and 17) and were afraid that this type of cruise will bored them but I have to say that the opposit happened. They were in action all of the day and took part in a lot of the daily programm events.....and we are Germans where the first language is not English!

We stayed in a sheltered balcony cabin (Deck 5) for the first time durting our TA this October and I have to say that we liked it very much. It is a plus to get fresh air and you can easily sit in comfort when it is windy or even raining. We would book it again.

I have to say that we only have booked the maiden voyage because of the "maiden voyage". So for us it may be better to travel in May instead of January. But I can really understand all of your thoughts about the situation.

I have no chance to fill out the form for my youngest daughter. Hope we will not get any trouble boarding in on Friday?

I have two booking numbers. One for a cabin for myself and my wife and another booking number for another cabin with my 2 daughters. I can only will out the form for my 20 year old daughter. For the other one they told me to contact guest 1?

I am in New York right now and we have to fill out the online health form prior to our boarding on Friday. How do I do that online for my under 18 year old daughter ?

Quick update. We all have a great time with lots of impressions. The Hotel is better than my first impressions were. QM2 will be on Friday.

I have made it. Sitting in my hotel. Thanks you all for your support. It really helped. The Singapore Airlines Crew is great. They saw that I was very nervous and spoke to me a lot. The Knickerbocker Hotel is ok but not a 5 Star Hotel. Jetlag is heavy at the moment and New York is very full. First complete day tomorrow!
