  1. If the port fees and taxes go down from your original booking and the overall price of the cruise is lower and you have a refundable deposit booking then you can just cancel the original booking and re- book at the new lower price. When I told the RCCL agent on the phone that this was my intention he put me on hold and came back a few minutes later to advise me the taxes and port fees had been adjusted on the original booking to the lower amount!
  2. If we are going to be restricted to 3 drinks my preference is to be able to use them anytime in a 24 hour period not just at “happy hour”.
  3. I too am wondering the same thing. Have been to Alaska several times but never to Glacier Bay. Hoping to hear soon so we can book.
  4. We had the same thing happen on the Allure in December. We attended the aqua show and my white shorts were spotted with black soot from the seat. Fortunately the laundry service was successful and all the stains were removed. We made a point of taking a towel to sit on for future events in the aqua theatre.
  5. I looked into this a few years ago and the answer from CBSA is that when you enter Canada in Victoria then leave the clock starts back at zero. We have done several cruises out of Seattle which stop in Victoria and always just declare our purchases at the Canadian border when driving home. Never had an issue but we are always within our limits.
  6. Just got home from sailing on the Vision. The desserts in the dining room were not great but the dessert buffet every night in the Windjammer was amazing. Not sure why there was such a difference in the desserts between the 2 venues though?
  7. Well there really is no dress code anymore. You can basically wear whatever you want including shorts, T-shirt’s, tank tops, ball caps, flip flops etc.
  8. Oh I agree! It is fascinating that Royal is focusing their ship designs and sales strategy on the younger generations and relaxing dress codes/guidelines in the dining room which is more appealing to the younger cruisers yet the entertainment including headliner shows are not. Royal really needs to refresh their entertainment options too. I include this in my post cruise survey everytime.
  9. Will I be invited to join the 340+ meal with an officer on the cruise I reach that milestone or do I have to wait until my next cruise?
  10. Just sailed on Harmony on December 9th and iMessage worked for us without buying the internet. We were told that eventually the message feature on the Royal app will be added for Harmony.
  11. Just sailed on the Explorer in September. We always set up a cash account and have never had difficulty on any ship withdrawing non-refundable OBC. Just be sure to let the cashier know your account is cash and confirm that you will not be charged the 5%. We have never been charged. Some ships give us cash and others give us a voucher for the slots. I learned on cruisecritic to put the voucher in the machine, press the cash out button and return to the teller for the cash. Works every time. Alternately have gone to GS on the last day and received any leftover OBC. No 5% fee charged.
  12. We have been onboard for New Years a few times and noticed a considerable change (not for the good) last year when we sailed on the Serenade. The party favours on the dining room tables and the special menu for dinner remained the same which was wonderful. There was, however, a great deal more of the public spaces around the centrum roped off for paying only guests leaving much less space for non-paying guests. They also moved all of the furniture to the areas where you had to pay extra leaving no chairs in the public areas. Guests who wanted to enjoy the evening but could not stand for long periods of time ended up leaving or bringing chairs from their rooms. The balloon drop in the centrum was wonderful but no complimentary champagne but they had lots to purchase at a huge cost! Unlike past years it just felt like Royal's focus was on making more money. Overall we were very disappointed.
  13. Great idea! Why didn’t I think of that? Thank you.
  14. We are looking at going on our first Celebrity cruise. We are Diamond + so Elite, I believe, on Celebrity. Could someone please explain how their “happy hour” drink system works? I noted in an earlier post that there is no dedicated lounge so are there drink coupons loaded onto our cards and if so, how many? Also, can we bring 2 bottles of wine on board similar to Royal? Thanks for the help.
  15. Could someone post a link to the video. Looked and looked but could not locate it. Thanks.
