I should add, this is a good clean minimalist place to sleep but not much space for relaxing in the room. The only chair in the room is the white folding one in my photo above. I’m sure they’d have brought us a second chair if we’d asked, but we weren’t there much so we were fine with the one chair. The only thing that would’ve made this room better would’ve been comfy seating for relaxation time.

We just completed a Boston to Quebec cruise two weeks ago, and before the cruise we stayed at a place called YOTEL right on Seaport Boulevard, right next door to the T Courthouse station. 15 minute walk to the large South Station on the T, 10 minute walk to Boston Tea Party Museum. 20 minute walk to Hop On Hop Off Bus. It’s definitely different than your average hotel in that the rooms are tiny like a cruise ship, and the prices are much lower because of it. Also, the bathroom is different in that while the toilet and shower are both enclosed in their own glass booths there is just a big drape to close the overall bathroom space from the bed area. We would stay there again because of the price and there was plenty within walking distance to eat. We ate at one trendy little taco place called Bar Taco and enjoyed the vibe there, kind of neighborhood bar feel with loud music. Trader Joe grocer was around the corner, very convenient to grab a few things. To get to the ship, we took a $10 Lyft ride, which was faster than calling a taxi. Enjoy your trip!

thanks, I had no idea! Never noticed gelato with an up charge

At what venue do they charge for gelato?

I’m so glad your mom is doing better and you are both back to cruising! I don’t know who you should write to, but wanted to say I’m happy to see your good news. That hospital bill must have been shocking! I am an American and I don’t understand why health care in the states has to be like that. It can make a lot of people blow through their life savings if they have the misfortune to become ill. Anyway I’m glad you got it sorted and I’m really really glad your mom is well now!

Looking for Prinsendam 2012 cruise log
kelliebiz replied to Lunar Dragon's topic in Holland America Line
Thanks! I really appreciate it. Turns out I was able to find my other two itineraries on my digital calendar so as kind as your offer is, I no longer need you to look. One was Celebrity Edge in April 2019 and the other was last year in February 2023. Thanks so much! -

@spencercoop do you happen to have this one? It was a charter so maybe you don’t. This is the only one I need, the other was last year and I can look on my personal calendar. The other was a different line. Thanks for looking! MS ZUIDERDAM APR 15–22, 2006 -
Looking for Prinsendam 2012 cruise log

Thanks! I’d have to look up the dates and ship names. I have a 2-3 Caribbean trips and I can’t swear to all the countries we visited. -
Looking for Prinsendam 2012 cruise log

This is very cool. Do you mind sharing where you found this info? By coincidence I was just today thinking of past cruises and trying to remember what ports they went to. Thanks! -
I had wondered about this happening. I can’t imagine anyone refusing to give you your chair? There are signs right there on the wall saying the chairs belong to the lanai. How rude. Was this a daily occurrence?

Oh Daniel was on the Volendam this past April, lovely storyteller and narrator on our trip through the Panama Canal. We’ll be on Zuiderdam in late August so I hope he stays on.

I sailed a 15 night cruise in ocean view cabin 2579 in April this year with no complaints at all. My cabin was quiet, the food was delicious, and the staff were wonderful. I would love to book another cruise on Volendam! I imagine the noise level would depend on what maintenance work is underway at the time? Good luck

I hate how folks like yourself are caught up in this. If you still go, I hope you can still enjoy whatever form your trip ends up taking. -

I’d want to know too. It’s a long long way to travel to the HAL McKinley Chalet and the only thing to see from there is the national park. If the park is closed, if the air is smokey, if electricity is not on 24/7, I wouldn’t want to go there. I will imagine HAL will call this unforeseeable (and it definitely is) and an act of god or some such, so who knows how much power the consumer has to make a change. Good luck trying to sort it out! I’d love to see some statements from HAL about their plans but so far I’ve seen nothing public from them. -
Holland America Volendam Review (Worst Cruise Ever)
kelliebiz replied to Cruiser Sean's topic in Holland America Line
Trying to imagine a wife crying due to standing in line waiting for a table and over billing errors. Was she crying perhaps about casino losses and a raging husband? Really unfortunate you had such a terrible experience. -
Thanks for the photo attribution! I did in fact save it from the Denali NP social media account, but couldn’t remember for sure. I had saved it to show to my family since we have stayed there, not try to pass it off as my own. That’s a real shame if the Riley fire was indeed human caused.
-
Not my photo, but saw this one online, and I can’t remember where I copied it from to give proper attribution! I think this building is the McKinley Chalet
