Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. I washed mine out pretty well but still tastes bad. I have a similar one at home and never had a problem with it. We’ve entered the storm zone after a beautiful sunny and warm morning has been replaced by rain and high winds. Decks are covered in water, pool is closed, things are falling down as we bounce around, and we have the occasion jerk and reverberating thump as the bow rises and falls. Kinda fun to watch these giant swells though.
  2. Captain is Antonio. He just said that we can expect waves of 4m which is a little more than the 2 -3m we’re dealing with now. He said we’re going to go “very fast” around the storm front but the next couple nights will be the worst. So we’ll see…
  3. Will do! Always travel with meclazine but only needed it once in 50+ cruises - that Viking one. 🙃
  4. Saw that and all the European news sites are showing something similar. We are supposed to shove off in about 30 minutes so hoping the Captain will address it when we do. We’ve been through a hurricane several times, a few years ago on Viking where the ship sustained a fair bit of damage and while laying in bed, you felt like you were being tossed up to the ceiling and back down. Hoping that’s not going to be the case tonight and tomorrow.
  5. On Journey now at the dock in Azores. Little bumpy getting here and supposed to be bumpier starting tonight. Captain hasn’t said specifically anything about Kirk, other than to keep signing off with “Live long and prosper.” Haha. I’ve been following the track of the hurricane so would appreciate more information as it looks like we’re going to go right in its path but maybe not. Maybe they plan to teleport us around to the other side. First time on Journey but on Quest last week for France intensive and 4 times on Onward last year. Can’t compare to before or after dry dock but can say the carpet does look a little ratty in places. Our veranda is pretty beat up and some of the common area decking is a little sad. But, so was Quest’s last week. Food and service has been excellent though, better than Quest’s last week and better than we recall from Onward. Water stations, as far as I can tell, are completely unused. Haven’t seen a single person carrying the water bottle. While I filled mine and tried it, I decided the taste was way too metallic, almost toxic, and went back to carrying plastic bottles. Very sad no duplicate bridge director is aboard.
  6. Is there a place to attach a carabiner or do they include a carabiner? thanks.
  7. Hi Dr H, We’re on the same sailings. Last trip aboard Onward in March, there not only were Mah Jongg sets but a teacher/host for American Mah Jongg. She shouldn’t have any problem finding someone to play.
