  1. I believe it was the invention of the flushing toilet that brought modesty to our species and along with it, its nefarious step sister prudism 😉 There are 2 settings here. 1. You are an innocent child who knows nothing, and sees nothing 2. You are no longer innocent and understand how the world works Either way....I have no issues 😜
  2. It seems the media has significantly downplayed/not informed the public about the number of countries in the world who have shifted into treating covid as endemic and no longer a pandemic.
  3. About the same from my perspective aside from the Genie only wanting to be in your room for like 5 minutes at a time....which was nice change IMO 😉 and room service was handed off at the door...the didn't come in and throw out a table cloth and set seatings.
  4. Considering I wear jeans and a polo to chefs table evertime I go.........
  5. Never ever. Once in place......a tax never goes away
  6. Sounds like we're talking the $1200 or more in a single pull and how to handle seapass if it isn't you playing 😉
  7. Uhhh....why are we talking about solo cruising. Original poster didn't mention solo. When you sail in balcony you get 1 point per night, when you sail in a junior you get 2 points per night....otherwise know as double points to the cruising community at large using double occupancy. How solo layers into that is something you obviously know more about than me....but that's doesn't discount the fact that sailing in a JS gets you double C&A points. Sounds like what you are trying to say, is that the OP, if they were to sail alone in a JS would get 3 point per night....which is double points for the suite and then 1 additional for the solo run 😉 Where-as since you always sail in a non-suite as a solo you were already getting 'double points' because of the 1 point per night bonus and then personally felt slightly when that didn't stack to a +4. They do make it overly complicated sometimes with language choices. As for the link.....documentation is always preferred when justifying a position in opposition to someone. I'm sorry if you would prefer to only debate with anecdotes. On the plus side.....thanks to covid I've been banking on double suites and double covid...so I have been getting 4 points per night for 4 outings now....only downside though is I have to put up with my family 😉

  9. $40 or so for battery power tinsel tree and a couple of the kids smaller presents packed in the bags They also have/had Santa visit (when we were on 2021) and gave out presents to all the kids on the ship.
  10. To that very specific question......shower/tub in the bathroom, little more space in the room, double points for C&A
  11. Depends on the boat, larger vessels have coastal kitchen which is a dedicated suite restaurant. We always choose a suite.......because we like the one with the piano and our daughter plays it all the time. ;). Other than that...space, high touch with concierge and/or genie, second bathroom (sometimes)...we are almost always a party of 4....then there is the better/larger bath tubs and no a small shower stall benefit..... On the smaller boats in a suite you also get a dedicated place for breakfast even if they don't have coastal kitchen....we love breakfast in chops.
  12. I bring one on every cruise we take. There was even one supplied by royal on the last cruise we were on so never even used mine. Play it low and enjoy your cruise.
  13. I wasn't picking a fight and have never been accused of being mature....was making a laugh about it...like I thought you were....they are so close that it is a darn near a non-issue for just about any form of transport.....except for air2sea transfers Google says 7 minutes BTW https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Port+Everglades,+Port+Everglades+Midport+Garage,+1850+Eller+Dr,+Fort+Lauderdale,+FL+33316/Fort+Lauderdale-Hollywood+International+Airport+(FLL),+100+Terminal+Dr,+Fort+Lauderdale,+FL+33315/@26.0807437,-80.1511397,14z/am=t/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d90040cc646243:0x7662ff8b2aa32c17!2m2!1d-80.116658!2d26.0850697!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d9aa7ae4c8faf5:0x2ae0339d90a6cbe6!2m2!1d-80.1506022!2d26.0742344!3e0 😛
  14. You're right....3 miles.....that' like 60 seconds away if I was driving. 😜
  15. Just take your own taxi....don't take the royal air2sea transfer......we got off the boat at our scheduled time of 8:30 went to the transfer bus...and sat there till 10am when they finally got the last of the people off the boat. Then it took forever to drive and unload to the airport which is literally 5 minutes away. We weren't in the terminal till after 11am...it was frustrating....but since our flight was at 3:30 didn't stress us. Well other than being told to come back and get back in line to check in our bags because the airport can't handle you checking in more than 3 hours before the flight.
  16. We bring our daughter.....5 yrs of lessons....she brings her books ;). Also I get her an internet package....she has access to all the music needed and plays for hours when we are on board. 🙂 (proud papa hyperlinking below....be warned 😉 )
  17. We've been in RS on Granduer Anthem Adventure Vision Enchantment Serenade (upcoming in August) Suites with the two bathrooms are nice if you are traveling with 4 (like we usually do since we take our kids with us). The Concierge walk aboard on smaller ships is really nice. The Genie on larger ships is also very nice. On Liberty the RS is right in the middle in the bump out like Adventure. We liked the spot. Unlike Anthem where it is like 1/2 mile walk from the elevator (exaggeration obviously, but it is far).....you also get a wide/long balcony which is nice for sitting out an watching the waves go by. From my perspective, I am always willing to spend the extra on the RS no matter the ship, but I'm not like everyone else.
  18. I refuse to use/keep my phone while on board...I work in tech and am on my phone nearly 24/7....started cruising as a respite from it. It's always a little clumsy the first time in the MDR or speciality restaurant now though since they did away with menus unless you specifically say you want one and instead want you to scan QR codes EVERYWHERE to see what to order (even at many bars).....
  19. Casino classification for gamblers that they look at like cuts of meat. Or so I have heard.
  20. I reach prime first night of the first cruise of the fiscal year, unless I sail out of Baltimore 😉 .....I may have a problem. But....You will be prime while gambling AND accumulating points till March 31st 2023. Then on April 1st you will be prime for 2023-24 fiscal with 0 points and start accumulating again for the next time interval.
  21. She likes the expresso martini or chocolate martini that they swap in and out....so I don't get the chance 😉 We almost took our 15 and 11 yr old to chefs table 2 weeks ago because windjammer for dinner was closed on Vision so I missed the chance to steal theirs.......they finally settled on Izumi by themselves since they had ramen....but the mix up screwed up the chefs table arrangements....so we ended up with only 4 people....it was AWESOME.....got FULL pours that time and had a chance for some real deep conversation between 2 couples.
  22. I'll take a stab at this one ;). I like to drink. I like lotsa wine. What I don't like...is old wine. Call me a snob....I can tell if a bottle of wine has been opened for more than just a couple of hours. When I open a bottle...it gets drunk....1-2 hours and it is all gone. Because of this, I never buy/drink wine by the glass. For years I always got the UDP because I knew I would order a bottle of wine with dinner every night plus the wife and I would have 1 or 2 other types of strong drinks through out the day, plus we always have a cappuccino in the morning and after we finish wine at dinner. This last cruise we were officially diamond so we did not order a UDP, drank the same amount using the vouchers, bought wine every night, and netted out spending less money. They have a selection of 'meh' table wines up to 3-4 bottles of what some would call 'high end' with price points peaking around just above $340 if you want to splurge on an opus blend...but everything is 'safe' and mainstream that appeals the broadest mix of pallets. Also be sure to peruse ALL restaurants....they have different wine menus...some bottles are shared...but some only appear on the specialty menu....that isn't to say you can't get it in the MDR.....but you do need to know about it in order to ask for it 😉
  23. Chefs table serves Fish and Steak for the two mains that you can get at Chops and dessert you can get at Wonderland and a three other courses that are extremely light. It's been the same menu on every ship I've been on...but I still go....even though I don't like white wines and only nibble at the shaved scallops, pick around everything and only eat the small lobster rolls, never touch the tomato soup....the branzino and filet are always good. The red they pick is usually okay.....I must be an alcoholic because I've never even gotten a buzz at chefs table.
