  1. Now that Royal Caribbean has decided to extend our time in St. Maarten and severely reduce our time in Puerto Rico (where I'd probably want longer time compared to St. Maarten) where are some places that are good to grab a traditional bite without killing too much time off the clock. Plan to stay in the Old San Juan area and utilize their trolley system as needed. It will be two adults and somewhat picky 6 year old.
  2. Cruising on Allure of the Seas very soon and booked a Promenade over look room on 7th floor. What I'm trying to discern is if there is a rhyme or reason to the layout of the room? Is there a way to know if our room is going to have the pull out before the two twins or vice-versa? Can't find a photo of the exact room we have and photos of surrounding rooms seem to alternate. Thanks
  3. You are right I was thinking the promenade area perhaps.
  4. All I can say is that we have a cruise coming up on Allure and we are on Deck 7 (no balcony) and just above us is Park Cafe and I'm worried that between Boardwalk and what may be going on above us in prepping for the day (even with a white noise machine) that we are going to be in for a terrible sleep. We will have a 5 year old with us, but my parents booked this cruise as a huge family trip and I guess these were the best prices. Should I be worried?

  6. Thanks for posting these. A lot of questions have been asked regarding what they were filling the Dreamworks spaces on the compass with.
  7. We are cruising in July 7th as well. 1. Did you have to request the egg crates for the beds ahead of time? 2. Did you use a flashlight or some other means of moving about in the dark? 3. What did they seemingly replace the Dreamworks items with? 4. We are on Deck 7 (promenade) just below park cafe and concerned about the noise. What does anyone know about this?
  8. So are you talking about quality? Variety? Both? There is a lot to dissect.
  9. Will be my first time cruising to this area of the world with @Durham Mama Bear and our child under 8. We' ll be sailing with RCCL. I'm wondering for first timers if it is better to do a ship based excursion or potentially use one of the reputable non ship based tours like Bernard's or Joyce Prince (Hanley). Has anyone used the latter? I've seen plenty about the former. If so what was the typical price for the non-private tours? Would you recommend these to a family with a child ? Either way, what are some excursions that you would recommend to a family of 3? Any other suggestions or tips for first timers? We are not drinkers and probably not going to buy anything at shops though looking wouldn't be bad and are not interested in renting a car. Thank you in advance.
  10. Okay. When were you there last? Has the water quality returned to normal or is it still murky?
  11. Hello, I'm a first time cruiser going to the Eastern Caribbean this summer. On of the ports of call is St. Maarten and it was suggested to us to check out Le Galion beach for beach time with little ones. However, I've read reports that this beach is permanently closed. Would anyone be able to confirm or deny that statement? Thank you.
