  1. Crystal clear, and yes I remember reading all those terms and being like "huh?" Problem is, why are the prepaid gratuities for April 1-6 still 14.50? Shouldn't it be $20 based on new all inclusive gratuities terms? Sigh, makes no sense.
  2. It really is confusing. Sure, the banner says open bar but there is no other indication it is an open bar cruise. The prepaid gratuities (according to their terms) should be $20.00 when its really only $14.50 as of today. Nowhere else on the confirmation nor in the description does it say open bar. The only thing to indicate it is open bar for Norwegian Sun April 1-6 is the added "Beverage Package" which has less grauities than a true beverage package. This indicates that the "Beverage Package" add on is really only a premium beverage package (Water bottles, premium liquor, etc) It's really not that straight forward. Their website/terms need to be updated.
  3. I was also booked on deck 8. Sail away rate. Sideways cabin How did you find out that sun 3-6 day cruises are open bar? On their terms it says different.
  4. We did the same....just booked a sail away rate. How are you sure it is open bar? Nothing indicates so.
  5. Well I can say with 99% certainty that bottled water and coffee is included. Look here: https://www.ncl.com/termsandconditions/promotions Scroll down to where it says Premium Plus Beverage Package (3-6 Day Norwegian Sun & Sky Cruises)\ I've also seen on another forum where bottled water and coffee was included in the "Premium" package

  7. Exactly. Let's say the "Free at Sea" rate is $150 per person more than "Sail Away" rate which is the cheapest rate you can get, which also includes open bar on these sailings. Additionally, another $5.80 per day for 5 nights = $29 So for $179 per person for a 5 day sailing, you will be upgraded to Premium Open Bar vs Regular Open Bar. Not worth it at all IMO. On these open bar sailings, I think the best way to go is "Sail Away Rate". If insistent on "Free At Sea", then I would go with speciality dining or Free Air.
  8. That's a different cruise that is over 5 days, which means the entire ship is not open bar by default. The confusion stems from the Norwegian Sky and Sun sailings that are 5 days are less get open bar SHIP WIDE. If you are in a cabin, regardless of wether you picked the cheapest "Sail Away" rate or "free at sea", you will receive open bar on those sailings. Your sailing is 14 days, so open bar is not by default. You must pick a free at sea rate and then choose unlimited beverage package as an option.
  9. Doesn't really mean much when you overspend $150 per person to begin with by choosing "Free At Sea". What should be done is choosing "Sail Away" rate and getting open bar included in that. No gratuities added and cheaper by around $150 per person.
  10. I'm having the exact same confusion for my own sailing on 04/01 5 day Western Caribbean. After going back and forth A LOT with customer service and my agency, we discovered that ALL Sky and Sun sailings 3-6 nights are open bar. Like another commentor said, these are not the same packages as a true open bar and the menu is a little more restrictive.
  11. This was super helpful thank you. Any ship you prefer over the other? I know that Sun just got renovated but can you tell on board? When's the last time you were on? Do you need a wristband or key for the open bar on Sun?
  12. I am trying to book Norwegian Sun April 1, 2019 western carribbean 5 nights. However, I can not seem to get a clear answer on wether this a a all inclusive cruise like the sky. When "upgrading" from sail away rate to a standard inside rate and choosing "Unlimited Open Bar", the prepaid gratuities are at the rate of a premium open bar ($5.80 per day), significatnly less than the gratuties for unlimited open bar (19.80 per day). This hinted to me that maybe the ship is now open bar, even for the 5 day caribbean sailings. When calling norwegian, they give mixed answers and agents seemed confused themselves. Does anyone know something I dont? The sail away rate for this is great for a 5 night, and would be amazing if it included open bar.
