  1. I just got off the Horizon on Sunday where I stayed in a Havana Cabana.  As you all have said it is a choice.  I chose to stay in this section for the relaxed atmosphere around the pool and not having to get up early to get a chair.  The bar service was amazing.  They always had someone walking around taking drink orders while also having two bartenders on sea days.  All of us work hard and have hectic lifestyles so when someone chooses to spend their money to spend one week to be less hectic so be it.  I will only cruise in the Havana section from now on.

We just did a eight day on the Horizon, it is included and much more than continental. Bacon, you serve youself unlike lido buffet where they put 2 or 3 slices on your plate, scrambled eggs, smoked sausage some days pork sausage others, they rotated 2 types of potatoes, pork n beans, rotated grits/oatmeal, danish, croissants, bagels, numerous cereals, OJ and apple juice. We really enjoyed it. A lot less crowded.

Thank you for the info.  Sounds great to us.

  3. I will be on the Horizon in a Havana Cabana in May.  I have seen pictures of a breakfast buffet in the Ocean Plaza on deck 5 and since this is close to my room I was wondering if this is served daily and is it included or an extra charge? Would like to get breakfast close by instead of the Lido deck. Thanks

On the Horizon now and just watched the trailer for Season 8 on HBO Go app on my iPhone. We have the best WiFi plan. Not sure if it will work on the 14th when a lot of people will be trying to stream it. May have to wait until late at night or super early in the morning.

Thanks for all the replies.  The early morning part works great for me so I am going to give it a try then when most people will be sleeping.

Loved sailing out of Southampton.  We took the train down the morning before and stayed at the Ibis Inn withing sight of the cruise ship docks.

Thanks to a Rick Steves guide book we went straight to the local laundromat and had a grand time talking with the locals while we did our wash - we'd been touring the UK for 2 weeks since doing laundry in Inverness Scotland after our first week and 1/2 😀 It's a great way to meet real locals.

We checked in at the hotel then went to a museum near the docks with a lot of sailing history.  We then wandered up toward town and stumbled upon the Red Lion Inn built in the late 15th/early 16th century, at 55 High Street.

After a couple of pints at the Inn where the barkeep was happy to entertain us with the history of the place we strolled farther in land and finally hailed a cab for the hotel after a quick stop in a shop for Cornish Pastys.

Thanks.  We were planning on flying in to Gatwick the day before and taking the train to Southampton. I appreciate the hotel and pub recommendations.

  6. I am new to the forum but I booked the TA aboard the Mardi Gras which originates in London.  The problem is the Carnival main page says London (Dover) and my itinerary on the Carnival booking says Southampton.  Does anyone know which port Carnival will sail out of, Dover or Southampton?
