  1. Just back from the Allure. Didn't see anyone forcing a dress code but most people were dressed nice. Almost everyone wore formal on formal nights. Even on other days, people wore seemingly fresh new clothes at least.

I guess the reason for that was less the dress code but more an opportunity to get good photos.

So basically, yes, it does seem like people keep travelling back to room to change clothes.

Keep in mind though that even though there is a dress code, it doesnt imply that the MDR is an upscale place to eat. The menu is a disaster. You have to practically train them on what vegetarian food means. They do make it up with top notch service though. They will bend backwards to make you happy.

What time do you arrive?  If early enough you could shuttle or Uber to one of the nicer hotels for brunch and a mimosa or two?  Then head to POM  about 10-11:00

    Will arrive at 7:30AM. Sunday.

Otherwise grab breakfast at MIA before grabbing a taxi or Uber.  Any Public grocery store will have a good selection of wine, etc.

So there are eating places in MIA departure section ?

  3. Are any of these options possible for breakfast and shopping(wine etc.) :

    1) At the airport: Does the departure area have any Taco Bell, mcD, pizza hut etc. or any eatery ?

    2) At the seaport: I guess there is no shops/stores at the POM seaport  ?

    3) Check-in baggage to RCCL at the airport departure itself so that we can take a taxi to anyplace and eat/shop without having to lug big suitcases along ?

    4) Reach seaport, check bags in, take uber to a restaurant and then back ?

What option works best for you guys ?

We prefer to travel with govt photo ID for our children. When we leave passports on the ship, we take thier non-driver ID with us.

Hmmm I didnt know it was possible for kids to get that (non-driver) ID card. And no time left to get it now 😞

I guess we will carry the copy of his passport.

  5. Thanks a lot for the very helpful replies guys !

So seems best to carry only photo IDs + seapass off the ship, unless the cruiseline tells otherwise.

    2 more questions :

    1. What serves best as photo id for kids ? My 5yr old only has passport for photo ID and I dont want to carry off the ship for security issues.

    2. If leaving passport etc. on the ship what happens if you get late etc. and ship sails without u. Does the cruiseline unload your stuff behind on the port ?

Thanks again for the replies !

  6. First post. Yay !

So Royal Caribbean tells me that on the ports of call in the caribbean, there is no need to carry passport out of the ship. Just the seapass is enough.

I am confused how that is possible. You are entering another country right, so doesn't that country need to check your passport, visa etc. ?

Will be going on cruise from Miami, USA. Ports of call being in Bahamas, Honduras and Mexico.

    Thanks in advance !
