  1. YES, we are. this is our first also - I am excited but a little overwhelmed at all the planning. I will be reading CC non-stop over the next year and half.

(btw - I've noticed your screen name before and love it!)

That's great! There isn't a roll call yet for this cruise...maybe we should start one!

I know there is a lot to plan, but we have lots of time, and for me, it's part of the enjoyment of the cruise!

(and thanks, the one who pays stopped loving it a long time ago LOL)

  2. I have also found this thread very interesting, as we've just booked a 12 day med cruise and decided to take the Barcelona choice (Vision - September 2015).

We have heard there are so many tourists in July and especially August (that month is their vacation month). Our cruise leaves on a Tuesday, which allows us to go in a few days early and utilize the weekend (time off work...).

We have also booked the Vision for September 2015...are you going September 1st? This will be our first Med cruise and I am excited!

  3. I have just booked our first Med cruise for September 2015. We have been on the Oasis twice, and although I enjoyed it, I couldn't imagine that size ship on a European port extensive cruise.

We are going to be on the Vision in an aft cabin...can't wait! I only hope that we can keep our overnight in Venice!

  4. What ship are you on in the Vision class? BOTH Grandeur and Vision 7654 are JS. We were in 7654 on Grandeur last year and LOVED the balcony.

IF the price isn't too much more a JS would get you double points but the balcony would be smaller than 7654. Only you can decide which you want more the points or the balcony! :)

7654 on the Vision is a D1, happily, we booked it for next year.

  5. Our first one is from the Legend. It was left in our cabin on the last day of the cruise. It would be nice if there was, at least, a note thanking you for your loyalty and for choosing Royal Caribbean.

I agree that the method of delivery seems a little off...it was just left on the bed with no note.

I thought that I shouldn't be getting one (our last cruise on Liberty) since I already had got one from the Navigator....time flies and apparently so did the cruise points!

  6. If you ship docks at Aloha tower (most do but there are exceptions) all you need to do is go across the street to what looks like a parking lot. There will be a couple of van companies that take folks, on a first come, first served, basis to the airport and Pearl. If I remember correctly there is a booth there as well. We have been there 3 times in the last couple of years and I have just gone up to the van drivers and asked. Never had a problem.

    Thanks for the info!

  7. What I may say, you may not want to hear --- so don't be angry at the messenger.

It seems ridiculous to me, that booking a cruise in March for Thanksgiving weekend, would only give you the option of MTD. I would find another travel agent, because what they are saying to you is ridiculous.

It would be one thing, if you were booking very close to the sail date. DH and I have booked a Thanksgiving weekend cruise within 2 months of the sail date and were able to get the dinner seating choice we wanted.

I wonder if a TA earns more commission if you are in MTD?

I did a dummy booking on RC and it shows only MTD. Not the TA.

  8. I have a bottle of wine waiting in my cabin for me when we board from Gifts and Gear, usually in the $40 range (not many choices for Chardonnay)

If you order a bottle of wine in the Dining Room, you can bring the remainder back with you to your cabin, or have them store it for you till the next night at dinner. I think there are more choices in the DR than Gifts and Gear.

There are also wine packages, but I have not done any of them, so I can't give you info on that.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  9. Back from our cruise on the Jewel...just wanted to say that the Carambola Beach Club, even though closed, was awesome! Comfy loungers and umbrellas ($15 for both) and a gorgeous beach, and a bar stand (no frozen drinks, just basics). Food available a 10 minute walk down the beach, with the most amazing emerald green water, at the Shipwreck Bar. Don't let them being closed deter you from going there! :)

  10. Has anyone been to Carambola more recently? We are sailing on Celebrity Summit in December and are thinking of going here.

    Thanks!

Would you say it was overly crowded? This sounds lovely and I am trying to find a nice place to go in st kitts since I will be there on the day of my anniversary.

They have posted on their facebook page that they are closed until October 27th. I emailed them and got this response...

"Thank you for your email. We have closed for our annual vacation but will be hosting guests on the beach during cruise ship calls. There will be a beach bar in operation. I am presently awaiting confirmation on details regarding food service before I can advise persons holding reservations. I will communicate this to you before the week's end. Thank you for your interest in Carambola Beach Club."

I'll let you know if I hear anything. Maryhardy, have you looked into the Marriott? They have day passes for $35 pp.

  11. Thanks so much for the info! I would happy with the lounging chairs and ottoman. How was your cruise? Hope you enjoyed it, I have a whole year yet and it's killing me!

A great cruise, a beautiful ship, so clean and well maintained. Our cruise was the first new menu cruise, and there were some good and bad. Great entertainment and crew, Have a great cruise, sometimes the wait is fun, as well!

  12. I know this subject has been beat to death, but can you let me know if 1400 has the loungers. I know Liberty is the ship that is cracking down on them, but there seems to be some debate as to deck ten and corner afts. Since you will be in this room I figure ask the source directly. More importantly enjoy your cruise!!!!!

Just home from our cruise yesterday. When we boarded, there was only two chairs and the little table on the balcony, which is HUGE! We asked our stateroom attendant, and he said it's been more and more difficult, but he would "see what he could do".

Later on, he brought me one of those lounging chairs with the ottoman attached. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but close enough! Managed a fine nap one day!

I'll post pictures of the cabin and the balcony asap....

but the room was a WOW!!!!!
