That's my bad-- I just saw it and thought Dockyard.

There are actually 2-- one is the Orange Line which is public and the other is a private service for NCL passengers.

Transport to NYC from Cape Liberty
princeton123211 replied to cruisnfool's topic in East Coast Departures
That is going to be very, very difficult in Manhattan. A solid 3 star hotel will be more in the $300-400 range. -
Boston - Where to get Transit 1-Day Pass?
princeton123211 replied to mrmj59's topic in Canada/New England
You can take an Uber/Lyft to Quincy Market and pick up the Freedom Trail there. Alternatively you could Uber all the way to Charlestown Navy Yard and knock out the USS Constitution (which is sort of the furthest thing out there) and then come back to town via the ferry and continue on the trail. -
Transport to NYC from Cape Liberty

Uber or Lyft will be the most efficient way into the city. Even if you were to transfer to public transport to get into NYC you would still need an Uber or Lyft to get to a train. Hotels are subjective-- NYC, especially Midtown where most of the tourist activities are, is one of the most expensive hotel markets in the world. What is your budget per night? That's the only real way to make a helpful recommendation. -
If you want to go to a "real" Cheers go around the corner to 75 Chestnut. It's actually owned by the same people who own Cheers but it's an actual neighborhood bar with real folks who live in Beacon Hill rather than the tourist trap that Cheers is. The only thing recognizable from the show are the steps down-- the rest of the bar in what used to be the Bull & Finch looks nothing like what you saw on TV. I do believe there is a replica bar upstairs now though.

If we're using $20 as the basis mark then Uber and Lyft will be less expensive-- almost half that. Boston cabs aren't what they used to be and not nearly as prevalent anymore. Uber/Lyft much easier and apparently less expensive. I spend about 3-4 days a month in downtown Boston and traditional taxis are few and far between.

Personally, for a special occasion like this, I couldn't think of a nicer place to dine than La Mer at Halekulani. AAA Five Diamond and Forbes 5 star-- fine dining French cuisine. Very romantic. https://www.halekulani.com/dining/la-mer/ Drinks before or after (or both) at Lewers Lounge is also a treat.

First Cruise out of Long Beach....questions?
princeton123211 replied to ToddWelch's topic in West Coast Departures
Agree with Bear-- I wouldn't stay around LAX if I could avoid it. Personally I would head right to Long Beach and stay at the Queen Mary or the new Fairmont downtown (the QM is walking distance to the pier in the morning). If you wanted to sightsee in LA proper before or after look at staying in Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills. Even Culver City or Marina del Rey would work but get away from LAX. Also agree with Bear on LGB rental counters being closer but also take into consideration if you are going to get hit with a one way drop fee from LGB and dropping off at LAX a few days later. It can make more financial sense to take an Uber to LAX and rent from there if there is a substantial one way drop fee. Sometimes they are minimal or waived so this is something you will need to check and make a decision based off of that. -
Alternative to Brooklyn Marriott
princeton123211 replied to TouchstoneFeste's topic in East Coast Departures
If in house dining is one of the main concerns-- which it sounds like it could be from your original post-- look at The Hoxton in Williamsburg. They have Laser Wolf on the roof (one of the hottest restaurants in Brooklyn) as well as K'far which is a wonderful cafe that also serves lunch and dinner. It's a little further from the port but it checks some of your other boxes and is still in Brooklyn. -
Philly to Brooklyn... with and without a hotel
princeton123211 replied to Scottdalfonso's topic in East Coast Departures
The small amount of money you save with the shorter ride and ferry transfer might not outweigh the convenience of just getting dropped off next to the ship with all your luggage. -
Discussed quite a bit here. EWR is BY FAR your easiest option from Cape Liberty-- closest and least expensive to get to. Short Uber or Lyft would be the way to do it-- New Jersey taxis are awful. The cruise line will most likely have a bus as well but it isn't really necessary. LGA would only be worth it if the flights were hundreds of dollars less than EWR. LGA is more convenient to Manhattan and Brooklyn cruise terminals. Uber or Lyft would still be your best bet to get to LGA-- if there was a cruise line bus I would imagine it would take a while. If you wanted to spend a bit more you could also book a car service.

You do have some time but not as much time as it initially appears. If the ship docks at 7 it might be cleared by 8 and you will realistically be off of it by 9 at the earliest. For a 5pm flight from Logan you'll want to leave the city by 2:30/3pm Personally I would just jump in an Uber and head to a central hotel for a light breakfast or coffee and while doing so will store your luggage for a nice tip to the bellman. A great one to do this with is the Fairmont Copley Plaza-- right in Copley Square it puts you within easy walking distance of both Back Bay, Boston Common, as well as the waterfront tourist areas.

The Queen Elizabeth is one of my faves and you can't beat the location if arriving or departing by train-- as said its above Gare Centrale and you can take a private elevator up to the hotel lobby. While certainly not the least expensive hotel in Montreal it is certainly not as expensive as some others and the incredible convenience might be worth the small premium.

Tours from Manhattan cruise terminal to LGA?
princeton123211 replied to moopig's topic in East Coast Departures
Most likely you aren't going to see anything out of LGA. LGA is all business-- doesn't have the overseas crowd JFK and EWR do. Mostly routine domestic flights. I would plan your own thing-- there aren't any tour companies that run tours-- you can always hire a private driver. -
Car service from Cape Liberty to Manhattan

Try the Blacklane app. More expensive but higher end. -
Car service from Cape Liberty to Manhattan
princeton123211 replied to ggrocks3's topic in East Coast Departures
They're not a luxury service. My company used them for years to take you home if you worked after hours. THey are the exact same cars and drivers that are on the UberBlack platform-- mainly older Suburbans and Escalades. -

As mentioned-- Carmel and Dial 7 but they are the same drivers as Uber and Lyft. If you want something a little more premium try an app called Blacklane. -
Seattle Towncar recommendations
princeton123211 replied to aksharp1's topic in West Coast Departures
Most of them just drive for UberBlack anyway-- much easier to just book that way. If you want a slightly more elevated experience I use an app called Blacklane which works with a consortium of higher end local services and is very good.- 1 reply

Horseman points you in the right direction. To clarify-- the pier is in downtown SF. There are no hotels in downtown that have an airport shuttle. Uber/Lyft will be your best bet to get downtown although public transport options do exist. You can stay at the airport and have a shuttle but then have to make your way downtown the next day (most likely least expensive option) or you can forgo the shuttle and stay downtown near the pier.

You have plenty of time. It's a 20-25 min ride to Horseshoe Bay. I would also definitely suggest taking the ferry over to Hamilton at night and walking around. The Dockyard overall is a bit of a tourist trap with a few exceptions and not really representative of a visit to Bermuda. If you stay in the Dockyard the whole time, including Snorkel, you might as well just stayed on the ship.
