  1. With interest, I read about your experience. We cruise with NCL and Princess. We were on the NCL SUN that left Burnos Aires, a day after you. The day before we arrived at Falkland was very rough but the next day, it was calm that we were able to tender. There, we were told that you missed Falkland. However; we had very strong winds at Punta Arenas that we could not disembark except for the crew that were going home. So close but dangerous.
  2. Hi Cruise Raider, what is the date of your cruise? We'll be on the April 6 cruise. paiagirl
  3. Thank you for the explanation. No wonder the dock workers looked so confused. We had dinner with Steven one evening and he was telling us about the new ports that they went to. For the Russian port, NCL had all the passports in order but when the Russians came, they dumped the passports on the table making it difficult for the staff to reorganize it.
  4. Hello, yes I did write a review. I gave embarkation a poor marking because it was awful. The dock employees were so very unorganized, not like previous Seattle embarkations or other embarkation ports. Other than that, Steven and the people under his commend and the beauty of Alaska made this the best Alaskan cruise out of the 5 Alaska cruises we've taken. https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=623037
  5. Happened to recognize your name this afternoon and began reading your blog on the JEWEL. Brought back memories when my husband and I stayed at the Yokohama Grand Intercontinental Hotel a couple years ago and also of the JEWEL and can vouch for Steven....when you disembarked in Seattle we embarked for the 9 day Alaska cruise. Looking forward to reading the ending of your cruise.
  6. That is what we have. Printed 2 each for both my husband and I. Glad you had no problem with your eVisa. We attempted it severely times and got ours last week. We won't need it until December but thought we'd do it early in case of problems. Wish we had your instruction when we were doing it. The fellow I talked to on the phone told me that I shouldn't use the Apple, even when I used Chrome, and to go to a friend who has a PC and to use Chrome.
  7. Like you, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong so yesterday I called the NCL tech department and she went step by step with me. It is the same procedure as ggTexasGal mentioned. Few minutes after I completed it, received an email confirming the entertainment.
  8. Another excursion (private) we did was at Sitka, with 4 other cc members, where we saw puffins, seals etc. Like Hawk Anxious to see more of your photos. I thought I had finished what I was saying about Hawk. It should be: Like Hawk, we liked Sitka a lot and plan to return there. Our captain of the small boat told us that August is the best month in Sitka to see 50 to 100 whales.
  9. alainamarie, I am enjoying your photos and perspectives. and most of all to meet you and your husband. This was the best Alaska cruise we had for seeing nature. The NCL Tracy Arm excursion was amazing. It was beautiful and there was a very large, tall iceberg that the captain came close to that we were able to touch. Another excursion (private) we did was at Sitka, with 4 other cc members, where we saw puffins, seals etc. Like Hawk We disembarked early, thinking of crowds like previous cruises at Canada Place, and walked right out. The Canadian immigration personnels didn't check our passport, they just waved us out. Like you, it was a breeze. Caught the skytrain to the Vancouver airport and was there by about 8:20 am. Anxious to see more of your photos.
  10. You won't regret it. We were on the NCL JEWEL last week and did the Tracy Arm excursion that went to Dawes. It was the best excursion. The captain of the excursion circled this huge iceberg and went very close to it that we were able to touch it. It was amazing! We also saw lots of whales. The waterfalls etc were beautiful. Purchase it before you go. Saw that the price on the ship was $249
