  1. sand2sea01: Thank you for the info. I suspected, as I previously wrote, that Turkey was a no go this year. We start in Lisbon which looks to likely to be open but who knows what things will be like in October. I did learn from Atlas that the crew will be vaccinated but no final decision has been made about the passengers but that it was likely to be a requirement. To me that would a tremendous positive and I would feel much safer. At present, Atlas is one of the very few lines NOT requiring this. The Atlas website has been down for the last 3 days. I was told that they are "making update
  2. So sorry that you had to cancel. Did Atlas say that they were eliminating Turkey from their itineraries? I wouldn't be surprised but what ports are they substituting ?
  3. Anyone on this voyage get contacted by Atlas yet concerning scheduling the air component?
  4. This is what the President of AOV said regarding Covid testing in mid-March: "As of right now, we are planning pre-boarding testing, and regular onboard testing to monitor our guests' health, as well as provide them the appropriate documentation to return home. We have drafted our protocol but need to calibrate that with the latest and pending governmental guidance. We will be able to give definitive protocols when we get closer to departure. In the meantime, we are doing what we can where we can, such as including complimentary emergency medical evacuation insurance for all guests as an
  5. If the Covid situation remains constant as it is today, Greece and Israel should be open to American tourists but definitely NOT Turkey. Turkey is experiencing a surge in cases and is in total lockdown. Things change day by day and your trip isn't for another 3 months so I would be monitoring the situation. Has Atlas contacted you about flights yet? I was told that Atlas will provide return to home Covid testing. They will probably have to provide testing prior to debarking at each port as well. Situation is very fluid .
  6. If you are on Medicare, you will receive a Medicare Summary Notice from CMS (Center for Medicare Services) affirming payments to to provider of the vaccine . It will give the dates, notes the services provided "Immunization administration by IM injection for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus" and the CPT (billing code), and the $ amount Medicare paid the provider. KEEP THAT WITH YOUR WHITE CDC card. Even though we have private insurance through BC/BS, the pharmacy wanted our Medicare card.
  7. Breaking news: "It is the news that many Americans have been waiting for; that they will be able to visit the EU over summer. Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, told The New York Times in Brussels on Sunday that Americans who have been fully vaccinated, will be allowed to visit European countries over the summer." Our State Dept. and EU officials in Brussels are now working together to make this happen. Good news.
  8. Stephen and Peter: Looking forward to meeting you. Great news from about 1 hour ago: "It is the news that many Americans have been waiting for; that they will be able to visit the EU over summer. Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, told The New York Times in Brussels on Sunday that Americans who have been fully vaccinated, will be allowed to visit European countries over the summer." We were cautiously optimistic before this announcement but now are elated. Full speed ahead!! Karen & Joe
  9. No it's not. Not a secret just irrelevant. Anyway, the line just arranged our flights today so end of story.
  10. Thanks. Sounds very confusing. Since our ship has a max of 192 passengers and about 13 gateways, it shouldn't be that complex.
  11. Hi Prezz. Your journey sounds simply amazing and I wish you a fabulous trip. Would appreciate a trip report when you return (or during if you are inclined to post it). Since Atlas is brand new, there is so much that we don't know about it. I'm optimistic that everything will be wonderful. We booked directly with Atlas but still can't find out some info. We were advised to and did submit the port tour form right after we deposited. Did you accept to flights that Atlas offered or did you do personal deviation. Our agent advised against booking the flights on our own because with the world situa
  12. Please see my original post. I can make personal requests and the cruise line and ports are irrelevant . Just wanted to know when l can expect to be contacted to make these requests. As l wrote above, the gentleman who handles the air reservations will call this week so all is good. This is not a mass market cruise... only 96 suites so the service is much more personal.
  13. Thank you, kokopelli-az. I just called the cruise line again. They said that they will have their air person call me . Since it's such a small line, they only have one person making the arrangements. I told them that if I didn't have the info before our final payment is due (July 2nd), I would cancel. Our deposit is fully refundable until 90 days before the cruise. Since the air is part of our voyage price, I'm not going to pay for some "unknown". I don't think that is unreasonable, do you? I would normally book the air on my own but in these uncertain times, the line can make changes to
  14. In the past, we've always booked the air component on our own but this year the cruise line is including the airfare out of many gateways, including ours. My question is how long before the cruise does the line's air department usually contact you to make the air arrangements?
  15. Has anyone heard from their air department for booking flights or about cancellations ? Now with the situation in the Ukraine, I fear that the voyages that stop there will be diverted or cancelled. We are on the transatlantic cruise but a friend is on the Black Seas journey and she can't get any info and is ready to cancel on her own. I feel badly because I recommended Atlas to her.
