  1. Thank you. We're finding that out. When we lived in SoCal, some hotels near the port offered this for cruisers. In any case, we decided to rent a car in TN, return it the morning of the cruise, and not worry about parking. Thanks again!
  2. Oh. Now I understand. I was flummoxed. We're similar. If Allegiant doesn't to "There", neither do we.
  3. Judging by the laugh emoji, apparently that was funny. How? Why?
  4. Thank you ... Yeah. We looked into Brightline. Would have to get from Sanford to Orlando. Just too much traipsing around. Day before the cruise we'll probably will take the flight to Sanford, rent a car, drive to FL. Already have a hotel reserved for that night. Thank you for you suggestion.
  5. Choosing Sanford because Allegiant's schedule to FL the week of our cruise would require us to get there four days early. Flights to Sanford are more frequent, and the hours of the day are better. We use Allegiant almost exclusively, so are very familiar with the airline, their destinations, etc. It just isn't working out this time, sadly.
  6. A few years ago, Princess ran a bus within Florida to transport their passengers to/from the cruise port. Does anyone know if this is still a thing? We hope to fly in to Sanford, and are figuring out now how to get down to the terminal.
  7. What a good idea!! I don't know how the current policies benefit anyone, especially flight attendants. Let's face it, we are becoming less civilized every year. Flying used to be fun -- an adventure; now it's just agony.
  8. One thing we like about Princess is that every deck has a nice self-serve laundromat.
  9. Do you mean a carry-on for the plane that goes in overhead compartment? Or what you'll carry on to the ship while the luggage is being loaded -- (basically your "personal item" that goes under the plane seat)? If the carry-in for the overhead compartment, almost everything, since we don't check bags. BUT this is the bag we'll drop off at the pier for porters to take to our cabin. So I don't pack anything I can't live without if the bag is lost. The other bag is the airline's personal item, which is also what I'll carry on to the ship -- a large-ish backpack. In it goes: Laptop, jewelry (minimal), meds, small purse with wallet and cell phone in it, printed cruise notes and docs including Travel Summary in case cruise app flakes out on me, chargers for cell and laptop, extra eyeglasses, sunglasses, small notebook, few personal hygiene items.
  10. That is how we feel. We travel with my sister and BIL, and get a table for four, same time each day (Princess). When it was just the two of us we had no problem being seated with strangers, but with the current political environment, we don't want to take a chance.
  11. We typically sail out of Ft. Lauderdale / Port Everglades, and prefer Princess although I notice you didn't list Princess in your post. Have done Celebrity, and were not impressed. Have friends and family who've done Norwegian and say, "Never again", and they have different reasons. Cruised on Carnival in the mid-'80s and it was dreadful, but my nephew says it's much better now.
  12. We have pets, so don't have this particular issue. We've had the same pet sitter since 2011 -- an angel who stays in the house while we're gone. If issues arise, she can reach us some way but usually by text. It's much easier now that communications technology has improved so much over the years.
  13. Also re toilets, after using the toilet for the last time, and before leaving the house, be sure the water isn't running in the toilet. My friend's son spent some time at their vacation cabin and didn't to this. When they got the water bill it was horrendous, as the toilet had run for almost a month.
  14. But you have no problem supporting the cruise industry? True environmentalists eschew cruising due to the fossil fuels issue.
  15. Last time we sailed Princess (2020) there was lunch in MDR on port days. But that's been a while. I hope that hasn't changed, and will find out in December.
  16. Definitely. All of those things. Also the midnight buffet. Actual formal nights. On Sitmar they had costume nights -- fun, but packing a costume took up a lot of room. That was OK when airlines let you check two bags free, but that's no longer the case.
  17. In Los Angeles, many hotels near the port at San Pedro allow you to drive to the hotel, stay overnight, and leave your car parked there until you return from the cruise -- free. Wondering if anyone is aware of hotels near Port Everglades that provide this service.
  18. SHUDDER!! Nine scariest words in the English language, right?
  19. I could definitely understand that if the names/companies were peppered throughout every thread. Agents could go nuts, and drive us nuts. It would be a free advertising scheme for them. But it seems that a private reply, one-on-one, would eliminate that issue. I don't know -- was just throwing it out there. It works on other forums.
  20. In December, we (2 couples) will be on Enchanted (first time) in two aft-facing cabins. Hubby mentioned possible soot and fumes. Unlike you, he is "cup-half empty" - [sigh]. It would be nice to know ahead of time if this might be an issue. Thank you!!
  21. I am on another forum similar to this, and there is an option for posters to private mail. I joined in 2000, and not once has there been an issue regarding mis-use, attacks, etc. It is a political site, and if there's one place where nastiness can occur, especially in today's political atmosphere, it would be on a political site. The "private reply" feature is within the site itself, and does not involve an email address of any kind. It's very handy in certain situations. If posters want to share email addresses, phone numbers, recommendations for companies, etc., with another poster they do it on the "private reply" page. Without that option here on CC which exists to share information, the effectiveness is compromised to some extent. MUCH more info could be shared if that option could be worked into the system. (JMHO.)
  22. Exactly. There's no motivation for them to excel. It was nice back in the day when they would kiss your (you know what), anticipating a big payout -- which they got (from us, anyhow). Not all things change for the better, right?
  23. The elephant that may be in the room -- human trafficking. This isn't the only incidence of young people disappearing from cruise ships. If the kid had arranged online to meet up with someone (allegedly) for gaming ... I dunno.
  24. Jazz is mentioned often. Are there any other types of music throughout the ship during the day and evening? I despise jazz . Any "oldies" type of music to be found for listening, dancing, etc.?
