  1. One order of schadenfreude coming right up: https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/operating-engineers-ask-sisolak-for-help-after-getting-cold-shoulder-from-resorts-world
  2. Well, that explains that: And just because I'm linking to clips, I'd like to remind everyone what a great actor the late Alan Rickman was. He burst on the American scene as Hans Gruber in Diehard (the villains are always more interesting.) Ergo:
  3. Wait, have they decriminalized dispensaries in TX?
  4. Oh my, I appreciate the comprehensiveness of this list. Thoughts: Change "items in your cupboard" to "your spice jars" and I'm there. Either alphabetical, or height order, your choice. Clothing store waiting: we've all done that. Have you ever noticed how ladies' clothing stores all have a comfy chair or two, somewhere, usually in front. I call that the "forlorn guy chair" because that's who you'll find sitting there. Finally, April 11, 1954 was roughly speaking the moment of my conception (TMI!) so Ann and Emil K would disagree. But in the larger scheme of things, you might be right.
  5. I just spent a lot of my weekend watching C-SPAN. To top that, today I had my dental check-up and a teeth cleaning. I think I need a cruise.
  6. Light hearted? One order coming right up, from the Master himself:
  7. My dude, while I am a good and hospitable host, I had to hire more bouncers after that last time....
  8. Nice, that's summer in a bowl, right there.
  9. Happy anniversary and looks delish....ummmm, potatoes, ummmm. I know what you mean about cooking in the heat. It's been nasty here along with our very special "air you can wear" humidity. Standing out in it and raising the lid on a small blast furnace isn't the unbridled joy the youtube videos make it out to be. Oh well, beats heating up the kitchen in this weather. And there's always beer. Finally, a modest but satisfying coda to Saturday's extravaganza:
  10. Drinks at 6:30, dinner at 7. We'll hold your usual booth, but no kanoodling like you two got up to last time!
  11. The following message has been endorsed by absolutely zero health departments in the US: I am pleased to announce the grand re-opening of the new and improved Chez Kenz: a Mediocre Bistro, BBQ Joynt and Great American Steakhouse (that's GAS, for short.) Last night was GAS night. The menu: Shrimp Cocktail, (homemade cocktail sauce) Pate for crustacean allergic OLoPP Charcoal cooked 2.8 pound bone-in "Cowboy" ribeye Baked potato, usual toppings (but no butter) Homemade vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce The stairway to beef heaven: Before: 24 hour dry brine, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder: The glorious result (sorry for the mess, this was of course before final pretty plating. The kitchen was pretty hectic last night:)
  12. Yeah, but at least your state energy grid is independent.
  13. I missed that one. Shark! "Amity, you know, means friendship."
  14. Now Ms KM, you have lost the thread of the narrative. Once you get the Ferrari, you no longer have to pass at anything. You just pull up , slid out of the car and take numbers for who wants to buy you the first aperitif, Bellisima!
  15. Eh, you're not really rich until you buy a Ferrari that ISN'T red.
  16. OK, I have to share this headline from today's Post: "With mustard scarce, dogged France will relish the day it can play catch-up" Some editor cackled while writing that. I mean, that's a thing of beauty.
  17. So this hit my inbox and made me blink for a second. Kenneth, join us for an exclusive dinner under the Endeavour It's dinner under the suspended space shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center. Kind of cool.
  18. Great, thanks for the strong endorsement. I'm keeping my booking and waitlists.
  19. Bryan, To be serious for a moment, is there anything like the Avenue Saloon in the late hours on SS? I'm not trying to recreate the Crystal experience but I did spend many dissolute hours there and would like to approximate that entertainment in future. Also, I too remember his name as Monet, but it was in a bar and...you know. Anyway I once pointed out to him that he could body (and face) double a younger Clive Owen. Finally, I made Kansas City style baked beans in the pressure cooker tonight. Semi-winged the recipe. They were so good, I may have to reopen the Chez.
  20. Hi, Crystal refugee here, would really appreciate experiences of RSS veterans who have sailed on any RSS ships right at or soon after their maiden voyage. I just booked a Caribbean cruise on Grandeur in early 2024, and waitlisted the two Panama Canal cruises immediately before. At the time I was just thinking "that's way out in 2024," and didn't appreciate the specifics of when Grandeur is scheduled to set sail. I now realize that I could be stepping on board a ship that's been sailing for as few as 21 days, something my rather cautious self would usually avoid. If anyone has experience with how well RSS handles new ship rollouts, I would very much appreciate your insights. Also, excited to try Regent. Looks like great fun.
  21. You can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a woman's man, no time for talk.... Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah Stayin' Aliiiiiiiiiiiive
  22. Oh, pls put me on the list. I like a lot about SS, but fear they tend to roll up the side walks after the main production show. Love to be wrong.
