September cruise update: My Alaska cruise with Celebrity was indeed canceled. Disappointing of course, but not a surprise. However, I was able to "lift and shift" my cruise to the same one next year at the same price, same perks, and same cabin. I'm thrilled as it will be my official "retirement cruise" and frankly it will be an even better time. I don't know if all the cruise lines are offering this option, but if you had a really good price, itinerary, etc, it would be worth checking out. Can hardly wait to get back out there! -
As an eternal optimist, my fingers are crossed!! On the other hand, that probably won't help me much since my cruise terminates in Vancouver, but I know the people of the Alaska ports are hurting so it would be nice if they can get some ships before the end of the season.

I understand that. I am just wondering if these "waivers" have ever been issued before. In other words, could the cruise lines be trying to work something out before making that final call that all Alaska cruises are cancelled? I realize it's all speculation at this point...

It is a Celebrity cruise, and I have been watching daily for new cancellations. I have contacted several of the Alaska vendors, and right now they are planning to open up July 1. But you are right: the cruise ends in Vancouver so I'm sure it will ultimately hinge on how they open up! Thanks for the input! -
Thank you Princeton 123211. I will be on Celebrity, and I check daily for new cancellations; so far, so good! I had a Princess cruise booked earlier but the cancelled all of their Alaska cruises early on. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The Gold Star sounds like the way to go!

I am looking forward to my first solo cruise in September. It's an Alaska cruise out of Seward and I can hardly wait! Thanks to all of you for the shared experiences. I was debating on whether to take "formal wear" myself, but now I'm all in! Regarding pricing for solo passengers, I found that Vacations to Go has a "Cheapest Price For Singles" on their website. Once you figure out when and where you want to go, you can click that option. If you see something you're interested in, you can also visit the cruise line's site to compare pricing. Since this is an Alaska cruise, I knew I wante -

Hello! I will be cruising solo from Seward on Celebrity in September (I hope!) and I feel I got an excellent price on a balcony cabin. I had previously booked a cruise on Princess for the same time, but they are one of the lines that cancelled their Alaska cruises early on. In retrospect, I am glad; I will be paying roughly half of what the Princess cruise would have been and I feel this is a better itinerary. A good resource for finding solo prices is Vacations to Go. There is a "Cheapest Rates For Singles" option that you can choose once you've decided the time frames, regions, et

I am going on a cruise leaving from Seward in September. I plan to take the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Seward, and wonder if the Gold star Service is worth paying double for. Any thoughts?
