  1. My point, however, is that our experience with click to fill details only take a few seconds longer with cc info, and has not affected our ability to get the excursions we want. Some people don’t want to use ACH and prefer cc so I’m letting them know it’s not a problem.
  2. I did say “or click to fill” when your device stores your cc details & name and address, as mine does. Just an iPhone.
  3. It’s really not a problem to enter the cc info, especially if your device has your details stored. A couple of seconds longer to enter the few parts which are not automatically filled or clicked to fill.
  4. You will definitely want to get permission from Viking. It also sometimes depends on permission from the country (via Viking). We had a terrible time trying to leave the ship for two nights and return on the SE Asia cruise in 2019 to go to Siem Reap. The Viking agent who sold us the cruise said we could do so. Then when we called about a month before to let them know our plans, they said we would have to get permission from the port authority in Cambodia. Weeks later, and with much tearing of hair, permission was granted. But we didn’t do it; we were too exhausted from the process!
  5. Malta, Morocco, & the Meddy. We’re doing it in March 2025.
  6. Yes, there’s a wee town at the dock in Geiranger. You should be able to grab a bite. We were there last July but did not have to tender.
  7. Sometimes there is morning yoga; and also sometimes an ass’t. CD will teach a dance class. Maybe you should offer your services!
  8. Every cruise I have been on with multiple sea days (usually the TAs) has had some form of an art class—water color painting, crafts, knitting, etc. Besides lectures, we enjoy a daily trip to the thermal spa, a one mile walk around the promenade on deck 2, and tea in the Winter Garden. You will not lack for relaxing things to do.
  9. Not true that they won’t check your bags when going ashore. Depends on the country, but I’ve seen fruit confiscated at ports in Chile, for instance. In Norway, however, no checks and no issues. The CD usually makes an announcement on the day about “no food or no fruit” ashore. Sometimes even no plastic disposable water bottles! That said, if you have need of food ashore, you can have a sandwich/lunch box made up for you (room service)—again, depends on the country restrictions and whether they have checks when you get off the ship. I always have packaged snacks from home—granola bars/trail mix, etc. And there’s always the fruit/nut packets from the mini-bar as well.
  10. That’s not what I was referring to. The OP may not know that you can pay a small amount to get your laundry back faster as needed.
  11. IMO, you will absolutely want to see Pompeii, a world heritage sight and stunning experience. Going to Sorrento after will give you a nice peek at the Italian Riviera even though not along the Amalfi coast per se. We are scheduled to spend a week in Sorrento in April and plan to re-visit Pompeii (last visited in 2003), and do day trips to Amalfi & other towns on that coast. This is our 4th time of trying to schedule this trip—first time was Sept. 2020! You will love it I’m sure!
  12. We had this route on In the Wake of the Vikings. Due to weather conditions (wind, I think), we had to skip Nanortalik and cruised Prince Christian Sound instead. We did make our stop at Qaqortoq, however. So your cruise will likely be the same in terms of possibility of weather changing up itinerary.
  13. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ And I’ve been there!
  14. Here are the live threads from the WC. They’ve discussed it—early on I think. Sounds like Viking will announce their decision when they reach Mumbai (?) but the consensus seemed to be they would go around the Horn of Africa. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2979887-live-from-the-viking-sky-ft-lauderdale-to-london-december-20-2023-may-6-2024/ https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2979494-live-from-the-viking-neptune-world-cruise-includes-ftl-and-la/
  15. Wrong place. Go to the roll calls. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/768-viking-ocean-roll-calls/
  16. Just did a cursory look in old CC posts because I know this has come up before. Here’s one response:
  17. Are you worried that you might hold up an excursion? Or that you’ll be on one that has people out of their league, making it difficult for others? There’s really no way to know because every cruise is different and no one has been on every cruise. I’d just pick excursions that look good to me and then ask here if people have been on them and the actual experience of the difficulty level.
  18. FWIW, their email is sokolarski.center@gmail.com. Worth a try.
  19. For the Norway portions, you might find this recent thread helpful
  20. On my iPad, in the upper left corner in MVJ when in a booking there is a menu indicated by three horizontal bars. Click on that for a drop-down menu—toward the bottom is “booking summary”—room # is in that.
  21. I’ve been on CC for over four years and this issue has been discussed ad nauseum on these threads. So my word of warning is to do your due diligence and read the boards before booking a new cruise line. The CC conditions also ask you to check the boards for topics before posting so then you’re informed about what’s already been discussed.
  22. It’s on the Viking website; https://www.vikingcruises.com/expeditions/cruise-destinations/grand-journeys/longitudinal-world-cruise-v/index.html#search/sfym=2025-2&sftcm=longitudinal-world-cruise-v
