  1. Thanks, I have seen and heard this but will keep my options and mind open. I think that is all I can do. Natalie
  2. Thank you! I appreciate your input. I am leaning towards the Star itinerary because I definitely have more interest in Norway. However I am only able to do this on Norwegian because I have cruise credit with them. I know other cruise lines have very good itineraries. And maybe someday I will get to go on them. Thanks again.
  3. Actually this wasn't negative at all. It is probably what is pushing me to pick that itinerary. I have ancestral roots and am of Sami/Indigenous peoples so this is part of why I want to visit that part of Norway. Thank you for your honesty. I really appreciate it! Natalie
  4. Oh this is very helpful. One of the reasons I am sticking with Norway and Iceland itineraries because unfortunately I also read how many ports were skipped due to weather etc in Greenland. While I would love to visit those and do one of those itineraries I prefer Norway. I hope the Star doesn't have any issues. I will be actively watching the roll calls this upcoming year. Thanks again, Natalie
  5. Thanks! Those are good points. I am leaning towards the Northern Norway also because of my ancestral roots in that part of the world. I think the price point of being in London would add up too. But I am currently really just researching the ports and comparing them. I know I would definitely wish I could see Flam but the North Cape also would be bucket list worthy. So many decisions. Thanks again for your input. Natalie
  6. Hi! So I am researching and trying to come up with the best itinerary and ship for my solo 45th birthday in June of 2025. I am limited to NCL because I have credit there. The ships are Prima and Star. I am okay with smaller ships and I have heard mixed reviews on the Prima. But do like the Itinerary. Here are the 2 I am looking at. Thanks! Prima- June 12-22 Reykjavik Iceland Isafjordur Iceland Akureyri Iceland Alesund Norway Flåm Norway Bergen Norway Amsterdam Netherlands Brussels / Bruges (Zeebrugge) Belgium London (Southampton) United Kingdom Star June 9-20 Tromsø Norway Leknes (Lofoten Islands) Norway Alta Norway Hammerfest Norway Honningsvåg Norway Longyearbyen (Spitzbergen) Norway Akureyri Iceland Isafjordur Iceland Reykjavik Iceland I have read about these ports etc and definitely know there are definitely positives and negatives to both. But just want some honest feedback for a solo traveler. I also live on the east coast of the United States so I am okay with travel. Natalie
  7. Here is another article. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/greece-wildfires-corfu-rhodes-map-b2380791.html by Maryam Zakir-Hussain
  8. Yeah I would love to stay there. But there are a couple near it that are more affordable and have good reviews. So I might look into them. I appreciate the help though.
  9. So do you have any good recommendations for mid priced hotels in Athens? I am fine getting around via Metro etc. I have traveled all over and take all kinds of transit. Thanks!
  10. Okay I’m finding some on some other sites. I’m glad. And it’s on the one where I can reserve now and pay later.
  11. Okay thank you! There are only 2 excursions for Izmir. One is a good one and the other is a wine tasting at a boutique hotel/winery. While that sounds wonderful. I would prefer to go to Ephesus.
  12. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for a tour from Izmir? Because I’m not finding any and the ones on other sites are private tours and as a solo traveler it’s hard to find something for 1 person.
  13. Thank you! This is extremely helpful. Do you recommend any of my other ports to do on my own. I know I will do Paros and Rhodes for sure on my own. Thanks!
  14. Hi! I just booked a cruise for July 4-14 2024. This is the itinerary: I plan to arrive July 1 and spend a couple days exploring Athens on my own. I have a couple choices for hotels that I am debating on- Attalos Hote, Gaia Athens or The Adrian Hotel. But if anyone has recommendations for a solo traveler let me know. I have read this board thoroughly but I am on a budget and the ones I see that are mentioned are out of my league. I also love wine and history so most of my excursions plan to be that. July 4- Dep Athens 5PM July 5- Thessaloniki 8:15-4pm- Vergina excursion July 6- Izmir/Ephesus- 7am-4pm- Find a tour to Ephesus-none are listed on the NCL website. July 7-8 Istanbul 10am- overnight to 4pm - On my own July 9- Mykonos-11-8 Delos July 10- Paros- 8am-6pm- on my own July 11-Crete- 8am-6pm- Knossos and maybe on my own July 12- Rhodes- 8-6 -On my own July 13- Santorini- 8am-9:30pm - Ancient Akrotiri and Wine tasting July Athens 7am Let me know anything and everything! I am very excited about this trip! Natalie
  15. Thanks. I am definitely not interested in the big ships from Seattle. I don’t like the port times or the idea to see Alaska in a large ship. So I’m definitely leaning towards Princess. Thanks though.
  16. This is why I think that 2024 14 day one would be great! And I have almost 1.5 years to plan and save! I really want to do the Adventurebound excursion! It seems amazing!
  17. I really want to but wish it was in 2024. Not sure if I can pull it off but I might try!
  18. Thank you! I’m similar and am excited to plan this! And I’m doing this for me. But I do like to see what others say. Just to get ideas.
  19. Thanks! I appreciate your input. That is definitely a good idea.
  20. This is something I was thinking about too. Thanks. Time to look more! Heck this is part of the fun to research what kind of trip I want to take!
  21. Thanks for the advice. I would share the itineraries but I’m on my mobile and it’s kind of a pain. I don’t see any roll calls yet since it’s so far in advance but thanks! I’m also fine meeting people anywhere etc. natalie
  22. Okay so i have made it between 2 choices. 1. The 14 day Grand Voyage of the Glaciers June 22 2024 on the Sapphire Princess 2. Same cruise on the 22nd but instead of the 14 day I will do off the Beaten Track cruise tour. Anyone do these and have thoughts on them as a solo traveler?
  23. Yes it is. The sapphire princess in June of 2024 so gives me a lot of time to plan and save.
  24. Okay so it’s between the 2 week cruise I shared or the same cruise with a land tour. It’s the off the beaten path land tour.
