  1. Well, @AtlantaCruiser72, sounds like the small chat we had a few weeks ago of Pacific maybe visiting Alaska in 2021 has been squashed. Very interesting development. I also noticed this and think the (assumed) mistake would actually be pretty shocking to anyone who doesn't read carefully. My bet is that it was most likely ultimately meant for Pacific...but I haven't really checked if the dates actually align so who knows? Maybe Enchanted really is going away from North America?
  2. hey y'all, I wanted to lay my own eyes on the Sky Princess for the first time (well, through a webcam anyways) and watched the Sunday 10PM sailaway and there was definitely the Love Boat horn sounding off, even amidst the dark of night. I was honestly surprised they wouldn't play it today, but I guess the Wheel of Fortune whatever that they were playing during sail-away might have had something to do with it (probably not really, but I'll make it the reason lol)
  3. Hi! Been following along this thread (and...probably maybe all the other live Sky threads that have existed) just to quench the curiosity from afar. I noticed you all kind of just did a drive-by along Princess Cays and didn't actually get to stop and go on shore when I checked the bridge cam. Probably the winds making it unsafe for tenders? Definitely safety is #1 but hope everything's still going a-ok with everybody & the trip! Cheers!
  4. I believe it's usually in Club 6. If needed (because of # of PES guests), they might move to Vista Lounge (which is also where the Captain's reception is usually held)
  5. Yep, that's the rumored plan, according to Captain Nick Nash (he's the Royal's captain); I cited the source earlier in this thread. Of course, anything's subject to change until something is announced, but to me, personally, this rumor makes sense.
  6. I believe that is the case if the trend is to follow. Maybe Princess might be different this year but...I don't really have the answers. Also hoping others could chime in, just in case I'm incorrect.
  7. As far as I know (and I hope someone can correct me if I'm wrong), if you have no drinks package, then the only free "fruit juice" you can get throughout the day is lemonade whenever the buffet is open. Fresh fruit juices are indeed, only complimentary during breakfast (buffet/MDR). In my experience, if you're on a ship outfitted with the World Fresh Marketplace buffet (Emerald, Caribbean, Sky, Majestic), then you should have more choices for free fruit juices that you can grab and go (as opposed to needing to ask). But this is definitely just from my memory/assumptions. There's al
  8. Hi Vicki, It seems that Princess releases news of the fall/winter Caribbean sailings in the spring. For example: 1) https://www.princess.com/news/news_releases/2018/05/Princess-Cruises-Announces-2019-2020-Caribbean-Season.html (May 17, 2018 for 2019-2020 winter season) 2) https://www.princess.com/news/news_releases/2019/05/princess-cruises-announces-2020-2021-caribbean-and-panama-canal-seasons-featuring-newest-ships.html (May 2, 2019 for 2020-2021 winter season) I will let others chime in on their experiences. CruiseCritic should have people (e.g. agents) who should receiv
  9. You should go to the guest services desk right after embarking and inquire about reserving a spot for the Ultimate Ship's Tour. You'll probably be informed that you're on a wait list, but will most likely be accepted anyways. Just make sure to get your name on the list of people interested in the tour! Fee is $150/person and charged to your account. 10. I did some looking into this because I was also confused about the timeline, but turns out P&O Australia just released a press release earlier today. So I've deduced that the Golden Princess is only in dry dock from September 24th-October 11th (the date of her first cruise with P&O Australia), so Star Princess needn't have a significantly more dry dock time if that's all they're taking to transform the Golden. In P&O's announcement, the "new" Pacific Encounter (Star) will be joining in November 2021, so it seems that Star would still have time to be in Alaska for 2021.
  11. For Princess, each ship based in Vancouver for Alaska (AKA all of their ships in YVR) has done YVR-ANC and back, at least for 2019 and 2020.
  12. Hi and welcome to Princess! In terms of Princess cruiser-pooled "secrets" that aren't necessarily officially promoted but are good to know, take a look here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2623467-princess-cruise-secrets-2019/?tab=comments#comment-56548971 There's also a 2018 thread that I think is nice to peruse. In terms of a comparison between Princess and Celebrity, also take a look here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2690930-princess-vs-celebrity/?tab=comments#comment-58212404 There's also a "Star Princess favorites" thread here: https://board
  13. No worries, I also have plenty of late nights so I totally understand. Pacific could also be from Vancouver or Seattle, with reshuffling that we might not anticipate (or not). But I don't know, we'll see. Honestly just overthinking too much. But Princess really does need more Coral/Grand-sized newbuilds, or just something smaller than Royal (I get that cruise + economy of scale argument, but still...), IMHO, if they're going without the Golden and Star for a while and still want to continue providing more choices, flexibility, and the experience they're known for.
  14. Hi! I was on the Regal in September so it might not be the most informative for a Caribbean sailing, but I've attached a glimpse of the embarkation day patter. Some quick glances reveal some opportunities where your friends can speak to some crew members/entertainment staff to help them get their bearings, if you will. One includes the Entertainment Discovery Island (1:00PM) and they can maybe stay after to ask any questions they might have 1-on-1. Another is the MedallionClass orientation (3:30PM), which might also provide a little bit of opportunity to get their questions answered 1-on-1 nea
  15. PRINCESS CRUISES CAPTAINS LIST: as of 11/23/2019 Dates include specific sailing dates or end dates unless not specifically deduced. CHANGES SUMMARY: Majestic Pacific Ruby SHIP CAPTAIN Caribbean Princess Marco Fortezze (as of 11/6/2019 sailing) Coral Princess Dariusz Balana (as of 10/18/2019 sailing) Todd McBain (returns this winter before last Antarctica cruise) Crown Princess Domenico Lubrano Lavadera (until at least 2/2020) Diamond Princess Gennaro A
  16. It was mentioned here that Princess is looking to only put just one Royal-class ship (Royal/Regal) each in Vancouver and Seattle. For Alaska 2021, Discovery won't be delivered in time as she will commence in November 2021. In terms of my own speculations, I think Vancouver will probably still have a 4-ship season as they've done for 2019 and 2020, and I would agree with your first four. It would definitely be a change if Princess were to do a 7-day round-trip from YVR but it probably won't happen if they continue to rely on the way they stagger their ships througho
  17. Hi, If you're alluding to what has been mentioned in various threads in this forum about Regal possibly being in Alaska for 2021, then the repositioning cruises between the West Coast and Australia would probably be released when the Alaska cruises come out (the best response someone got was some time before the end of 2019). I would suggest following this thread for any developments related to the topic:
  18. We definitely got so lucky with the weather; for the most part, it was honestly rather blissful, especially for cruising! Yes, I was on the tenders back over to the ship in Bar Harbor as the sprinkling had started and it had started to downpour after I got back on the ship. It just goes to show that the weather on this itinerary is absolutely unpredictable and the best one can do is to just wear layers and have adequate options packed in one's day bag! So happy to hear you're going back! Happy planning! 🙂
  19. User dides did us a great favor in live-blogging the first revenue cruise on the Sky a few weeks back and you can find their quick take on Take Five as conversation space here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2704056-live-from-the-sky-princess-med-inaugural/page/15/?tab=comments#comment-58649958 (other thoughts interspersed throughout the whole thread) If you're interested, you can also find the menu for Take Five here as well, also from dides: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2704056-live-from-the-sky-princess-med-inaugural/?do=findComment&comment=58641581
  20. It depends on your itinerary as some have mentioned. Cruising into Quebec City can give you ample opportunity to view changing colors, even when just cruising along the St. Lawrence River, as colors start changing the more NE you go/peak earlier (I think?). When only taking the 7-day round-trip NY, I think there should be some good opportunities; some that strike me as good places would be Acadia National Park (Bar Harbor) and around Newport, RI -- colors, of course, are always a luck of the draw. I was given this [https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map/] to use as a general predictor, bu
  21. Took this cruise on 9/21 this past year and I, too, wondered about what the weather would be like as a lot of the past contributions on various threads revealed unpredictable weather conditions (from sunny to stormy), with the most common suggestion provided being to bring layers to be adequately prepared for anything. But for my cruise, the weather was great! New York / embarkation day was sunny and warm Newport was cloudy but not really chilly and the sun did shine through at times Boston was humid and hot but it didn't feel like the sun was necessarily stifling and it
