  1. Taking a dive knife on a cruise ship is a big “PIA”. I take EMT shears instead. They are much better for cutting fishing line than a knife. You can find them at most dive shops.
  2. The ship will dock in the middle of Historic Charleston. The Market area is only a block or two away. You can shop, eat, and book tours there. Hare and buggy tours are a great way to see Charleston. Even better is to just stroll the historic streets . Meeting St, Church Street, East Bay St all end up at the Battery—-about a mile walk. Broad St intersects each of them. You can tour churches, three historic homes, and the Exchange Building. Locals are very friendly. Waterfront Park is lovely and close to the ship. I really enjoy a walking tour with Charleston Pirate Tours. My friend Eric gives a great tour——about a one mile walk—-leaves from the Powder Magazine on Cumberland St. the tour ends at the Exchange Building —-which is a very reasonable add on and well worth your time.Of course there are lots of other walking tours too. You will never be far from the ship and the area is very safe. Locals will help with directions. I hope this helps you plan your day.
  3. I booked the Carnival Pride for November specifically to dive. Carnival changed Grand Cayman to Costa Maya for our last port stop. When I booked the cruise Carnival offered a dive excursion at all four ports ( Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, and Grand Cayman. Now all the dive excursions are no longer listed on Carnivals website. I did manage to book scuba excursions for three of our ports through one of the big Shore Excursion websites. I decided to skip Belize due to the long tender ride and trying to get to the dive shop on time. The other three ports we are docked and I am familiar with the ports having been there often. I think Carnival is making a mistake here. I don’t think I would book another Caribbean cruise that did not offer dive excursions. I might as well just fly to Cozumel, Cayman, etc for a week. My wife does not dive so cruising provides her a nice vacation too. For Nassua, I would suggest contacting Stuart Coves Dive Bahamas. They used to pick up at the pier . Their shop is about 30 minutes away from Nassau. I have enjoyed diving with them several times.
