  1. I believe the poster said "temporary hold". Not a charge. Very common in the hotel industry.
  2. I wholeheartedly agree! On a recent stop in Namibia we saw dozens of camels saddled and lined up for rides in the desert. Not nearly as majestic as elephants, but same concept. No thanks.
  3. I'm going to go out on a limb a say I speak for all the lurkers and future lurkers. Keep em coming! 😃 Elephant experience looks amazing.
  4. Appreciate your honest and informative assessment of a less than "what was promised/expected expedition. Love your attitude more. My motto - If you're not happy, you're not happy. Keep rolling with the punches and enjoy!
  5. I always check as soon as we board to make sure the OBC is there. Sometimes takes a bit to sort out. The accounting system is just as good as their website.
  6. Hmmmm. Not sure what I think about this. Cashing in at the top? Or.....
  7. @UKCruiseJeff You are my personal bread and pizza hero. If the house next to you ever comes up for sale , will you let me know? I'd move in just for the smells.
  8. In all seriousness there are expeditions, and then there are EXPEDITIONS! Sea days, fluff up and wear a nice shirt or blouse, sundress or jacket if you're feeling natty. It's always nice to have one spiffy outfit. The intense days when you're on the last zodiac just clean up and leave the baseball cap and t shirt in the room....please. @DavyWavey70. Fortunately the Orcas deemed me inedible and returned me to the zodiac unharmed after a lovely ride. 😃 @jpalbny the stars will align! Retirement is around the corner, right?
  9. On our trip last fall we had arranged a Seabourn private transfer by boat from our hotel the Londra Palace to Marittima. The Seabourn boat never showed. I suspected this might happen and fortunately we had a back up plan. The Londra quickly got us one and we were on our way. Seabourn did reimburse us for the ride. Best of luck. FYI, I recieved some excellent advice from CC intelligentsia on this post.
  10. I would agree it would be a shocker. I often order just apps. Sometimes staff gets directions incorrectly. One needs to politely push back. If that doesn't work Maitre'd time.
  11. On an expedition, SMH. My guess is that the crowd will go barefoot.😄 On our recent Antarctica C2C there were a few shabby dressers in the beginning including baseball caps and t shirts at dinner. It did seem to get sorted out. I believe the offenders were tossed overboard by a group of passengers. Orcas seems to enjoy them.
  12. Norman the sommelier? If so, he did an amazing job on Cloud last month for us!
  13. For Chili flake lovers, check out Flatiron Pepper Co. @jollyjones Thanks for allowing the hijack . 😃 Loving all your posts.
  14. Great minds. I travel with my own chili flakes. Gives me street cred. 😃
  15. I'm not surprised. You've probably already done so, if not perhaps try a different browser or device.
  16. Agree with you and our excellent OP @jollyjones. FWIW I found the Amatriciana excellent on our last voyage. Of course it's all Chef dependent. 😄
  17. Totally understand your position. I'm still wondering why we're paying expedition prices and having to pay for expeditions. I do feel bad for the EL's. Seabourn (and Silversea) just throw them on the ship and they have to sort out the muck with sometimes zero prior planning. The mother ship is a mess. If it's weather, no biggie we all roll with that punch. As for E&O, we play a guessing game based on the name of the dish, what is it actually going to be? Lovie once said: "If you dont know what it supposed to be, it actually quite good". Wine lunch looks great.
  18. We all know how excellent Seabourns websites are..Ha ha. It can be a bugger to find depending on your device. Try this: Bottom of page click on Explore Voyages. Should pull up a menu. Click on preferred ship. FYI, some ships have nothing. Click on year and it should pull up their different voyages. Hope this works.
  19. Sorry, this was on the Cloud in South Africa. Perhaps @FauxNom can chime in.
  20. Yikes! What a bummer. So sorry for you and the pack. There were so many exciting events on that leg. And yes much better to deal with it at home. Hope all is well and life on the flip side is treating you well.
