  2. Make sure the person who does your test marks it "priority." Depending on how long you have until your next cruise, ordering the home test kits is a good idea.
  3. Good news! The tests came back negative. This has taught me a lesson. If I need to test like this again with a short turn around, I am definitely going with the proctored home test. At least we know that the Princess/Quest thing is real.

From the Princess Health FAQ: For U.S. guests, Princess has partnered with Quest Diagnostics to provide scheduling to no-cost* COVID-19 test appointments, with test results delivered within 48 hours after taking your test. Find a testing location near you. Also from the FAQ: ALL guests must produce a negative viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) taken within 2 days of their embarkation on all Princess sailings. We understand that it may be difficult for some of our guests to find testing that can provide results within a 2-day turnaround. Accordingly, for guests who did not receive their test results within 2 days prior to their embarkation, we are working to set up mobile testing sites near our embarkation ports to conduct COVID-19 testing the day before, or day of, your cruise departure. The company providing the testing will charge a per-person fee (to be established; please check back on this page). Providers will not accept insurance, but you will be provided a receipt should you wish to submit the cost to your insurance carrier. Please consider this as a back-up alternative should you not be able to make arrangements prior to leaving home. I'm wondering if I'm the only person who took advantage of Princess' Quest offer...
  5. This test was ordered through the Princess web site. This was one of the testing sites offered that was not in Palmdale. (Near Redlands.) The person who did the test said we were getting Princess priority. This was definitely one of the Quest labs affiliated with Princess.
  6. The test was ordered through Princess (link in the FAQ) for Quest Diagnostics, but the test itself was administered at the WalMart Drive Thru pharmacy across the street from the Quest lab. Confused me, too. The WalMart person said Quest came to pick up the tests from them. Hence, my anxiety about this.
  7. Good question. I think you can make reservations and then change them later if you need to.
  8. Not everyone has the same good outcome you did. (I know someone who has problems.) However, I'm sure there will be someone to assist getting on the ship. The staff are always helpful.

  10. My grandchildren grew up on Princess. 🙂 They are now teens and love the kids' clubs. They were on track to becoming Elite before they turned 18, but the shut down stopped that. Our last cruise was Dec 2019 on the Royal, and they had a great time with the teen club activities. The youngest gchild is still in the kids' club (or will be when she can cruise again.) She was in the tiny kids' club as soon as she turned 3, and we usually had to drag her out because she was having so much fun. I am a big fan of Princess' kids' facilities.
  11. Who wants to be the employee who sets up an account for Jan that doesn't work perfectly? I'm afraid I don't have the same faith in Jan that some do. (I met her once.)
  12. I found a location in California (we leave out of Los Angeles on the Majestic Princess) close enough to me and made an appointment. We did the test in the car at a WalMart pharmacy drive-thru. The Quest lab was across the street. The test was marked priority. It hasn't been 48 hours yet, but this whole Quest thing has me nervous. They didn't ask for payment. The young lady doing the test seemed confused about the Princess connection. I'm not looking forward to sitting in my car at the port waiting for an email from Quest. Did anyone here use the Quest service? Did it work?
  13. I have tried for weeks to book Bistro Sur Le Mer on Majestic Princess, and it didn't work even when the app listed it. Do you think it's possible they are closing it in order to use the space for something else? The Bistro occupies the spot Crooner's uses on other Royal Class ships, doesn't it?

  15. The DMW app is back on my phone with a curious change. It now lists my booking number for "sharing." (Of course, as soon as I write this, DMW app disappears again.) Anyone else see this booking number thing?
  16. Let us know if it works for you. There is a Quest about a half mile from me, but they don't participate in the free program. I think you are a bit too far away for a quick trip to Palmdale, but they have four participating centers there. This smells like just another Princess marketing knee-jerk designed to shut up the critics so they can scramble for a real solution. I would be very interested to know if anyone will be able to take advantage of this Quest deal.

  18. I don't know how it is now, but it wasn't a problem in the old days. I have taken my daughter with me before she was Platinum, and as long as I paid for the drinks with my Elite card, no one said anything. But that was then. Maybe the Medallion App throws up a force field around the lounge that will zap any Ruby member who tries to sneak in. 😂
  19. Oh I hope! My granddaughter has already had a breakout and quarantine in her elementary school. I wonder if this is how nervous our parents were before the advent of the polio vaccine.

  22. I thought that too, at first. Typos happen, even in the most important documents, and they can cause massive confusion. (takes off teacher hat)
