I’ll be on this cruise with my mama, a fun ol’ gal (88 years young). I hope to meet others on this cruise, lots of sea days.

Amtrak Cascades fro Seattle to Vancouver
Prost Seattle replied to afdds's topic in West Coast Departures
The city code for booking your ticket to Vancouver BC is VAC. I take the cascades frequently to Bellingham, WA (last stop before Vancouver). What I’ve recommended to folks (because I’m a Bellingham cheerleader) is take the morning train to Bellingham, spend some time there (I absolutely love Fairhaven) then take the late train to Vancouver. Of course, Bellingham isn’t Vancouver, but it’s still got it’s charms! -
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/a-big-salmon-run-at-seattles-ballard-locks-is-wowing-visitors/ Salmon are swaggering through Ballard and it’s a show not to be missed. The windows at the fish ladder at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are shimmering with fish. Not just any fish, but the toast of Seattle, big silvery Chinook thick as a thigh. The run right now is hitting better than 400 Chinook a day. But don’t put off your visit, August is peak viewing season as these fish make their epic journey from the sea to their spawning grounds. Mouths agape, their snaggle teeth showing, they are still silver-bright from the sea. Big too, with many that look to be 30 pounds or more. Seattle Times article talking about the salmon runs. It’s free, it’s cool (most kids really enjoy seeing this, and you sportspeople will salivate over the thought of the fishing opportunities (don’t do it!). Here’s a map of how to get to the locks, and if you are able to score a bike rental or scooter rental, it’s easy to get to. https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/bike-program/how-to-use-scooter-share-and-bike-share

I live on Capitol Hill, and I feel safe, but I don’t hang out where the nightclubs are. The shooting on Capitol Hill all seem to happen early morning (2-4AM) with young people who are too drunk/high to use any social skills to solve their problems. Downtown you’ll see some sketchy people on 3rd Ave, but there isn’t anything to see on 3rd. Will you probably see some drug deals and people doing drugs, yes, it’s a strong possibility. But honestly, if you’re a ‘I want to be comfortably back to my hotel or having a nightcap at 10PM’ type of person, you’ll be fine. Here are the top 20 cities for murder rates, source: https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-city-rankings/cities-with-most-murders St. Louis, MO (69.4) Baltimore, MD (51.1) New Orleans, LA (40.6) Detroit, MI (39.7) Cleveland, OH (33.7) Las Vegas, NV (31.4) Kansas City, MO (31.2) Memphis, TN (27.1) Newark, NJ (25.6) Chicago, IL (24) Cincinnati, OH (23.8) Philadelphia, PA (20.2) Milwaukee, WI (20.0) Tulsa, OK (18.6) Pittsburgh, PA (18.4) Indianapolis, IN (17.7) Louisville, KY (17.5) Oakland, CA (17.1) Washington D.C. (17.0) Atlanta, GA (16.7) Some of Seattle’s best restaurants are on Capitol Hill, and I hope that you’d be open to try them.

I had a kayak and hiking/swimming in the falls of Kauai8 excursion cancel, no notification. I searched non Princess excursions to see if I could find something similar, and there was one, but it didn’t operate over weekends, and our visit was a Saturday. I wonder if Princess used the same company and someone didn’t catch what days the excursions operated. Now our itinerary is going to change and it looks like we’ll be in Kauai on a Monday, so I’ll be interested to see if it’s offered again.

Just got an email outlining the "NEW" offerings
Prost Seattle replied to canadarocks's topic in Princess Cruises
I know that they say like but I’ll be on the Crown: Expanded casual dining options: Delicious prix fixe menus have been added to casual dining restaurants like Planks, Steamers, Alfredo's, Gigi's by Alfredo, Ocean Terrace and Kai Sushi. They’re available for a nominal cover charge of $14.99 I don’t think the Crown doesn’t have any of those restaurants. -
Etsy for the rose gold, the rose gold chain from Amazon, and both the chain and the carbon fiber airtag holder are from Amazon. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1317591648/apple-air-tag-case-only-crystal-rose Only one rose gold airtag holder left!

Princess Plus bought before recent announcements
Prost Seattle replied to Marronnier's topic in Princess Cruises
What was special about the Dec. 14 2022 date? -
I don’t plan on bringing a tie, but I’ll have a couple of sport coats and a suit.
-
I guess we missed the announcements. So now we pay for…?
Prost Seattle replied to gottagocit's topic in Princess Cruises
It must be challenging for the crew to determine if you are plus, or the the old plus, which I guess is plus minus. -
I put together this airtag holder and chain for my mom’s medallion. She likes her bling. Mine is a more understated carbon fiber.
-
Do you think they will add Hilo to your itinerary or a longer stay in Honoluliu?

Princess Plus bought before recent announcements
Prost Seattle replied to Marronnier's topic in Princess Cruises
So I screen shot what my packages say in the app: Even though I purchased in March or April, does this mean I get all of the benefits of the new Plus as it says I purchased it? -
You went through the many stages of Princess Check In. Mine took over 10 days, so your grieving, I mean check in, was much swifter. Oh, and enjoy your vacation, you’ll need it after all of this!

How is the bidding system doing? Any comments?
Prost Seattle replied to Bwana Tom's topic in Princess Cruises
I put in weak bids for our Sep. 30 cruise, we’re fine with the mini-suite, but if we get one of the upgrades it’ll be nice. -

One thing that can help if you choose that 1335 departure to LHR is spotsaver at SEA. https://www.portseattle.org/SEAspotsaver

When I told my 88 year old mother that she’ll be limited to 15 cocktails per day she was flabbergasted that anybody could drink that many. Now, mind you, this is a woman who gets silly after one piña colada (especially when caught in the rain). Now me, traveling with my 88 year old mother…will 15 be enough? I kid! I love the old girl.

Is Skywalkers used at all during the daytime hours?
