  1. I was on the 3/24 Getaway sailing and couldn't believe the number of dirty drink glasses just left in elevators.  The elevators were always so full, so people leaving them there didn't think about other's safety...

Also another passenger my hubby and I where chatting with in the Garden Cafe made an extremely vulgar comment out of nowhere.  It was a bit shocking.

Perhaps Free at Sea means free for all for some.   I prefer a more structured environment.    I'll probably go with HAL or Celebrity next time.  And won't be traveling on Easter week again either!  Traveling on Easter week is always so grueling.

We leave on our cruise Sunday April 7th, anybody been on the Getaway recently?  Wondering if the main dining rooms (Tropicana, Taste, Savor) have two lines one for reservations and one without. Thanks!

Go on the app and make reservations now.   We were quoted 45 minute waits as walk ups.  We just got of the Getaway last week.

  3. Go for it!  You can take a bus from EWR to the city pretty cheap just google it.  Taxi/uber/train etc.    The first time I took the train from EWR to Penn Station I was so clueless but New Yorkers pretty helpful.

My question is which show will you see?    I booked at the Marriott Marquis (may be overstimulating haha) and taking teens to Hamilton right around the corner.   They’ve been listening to the songs for years now so there was that.   Also fitting in one other show, staying two nights in NYC.

Spring Break cruises will have many children and teenagers.   Celebrity has no activities such as the flow rider, water slides, bumper cars etc.   If you believe they would prefer activities like that go with Royal.

Err, they’d prefer the flow riders etc., but a deal is a deal so they’ll be just fine.

Without knowing what your kids are like and what they like to do, it’s very hard to say whether they might like one line or another. Are they quiet in bookish? Outgoing or shy?  Do they just want to chill and lounge in the sun? Would they need to interact with other kids order to enjoy their cruise?  Are they foodies?  Too many variables and only you know your kids.

Good point!  My teens are chill they’ll be just fine.

  6. I’m seeing the balance due for my reservation numbers online are approx. $200 more than the “paper” invoice that I received when I booked and paid a deposit.  The fare has indeed increased since I paid the deposit.   Hopefully it’s just a website thing as I’ve never heard of a fare increase after a deposit.  Anyone see anything like this before?

  7. I’m wondering if my teens will enjoy the Millennium.  This would be for a Southern Caribbean sailing next spring break.  I’m thinking with such a good itinerary they’ll be just fine.  Celebrity isn’t up charging for connecting rooms.  We’ve taken them on Holland America before, which was good enough  but I’m hoping this will be a little better.  If you have any experience to share with such it’s much appreciated.

We just got off the Rotterdam with 4 in a room. To say it was tight is an understatement! On day 2 I told the room stewards not to pull out the sofa bed. I just did it when everyone was going to bed and after everyone had used the bathroom! You take you life (and shins) in your own hands trying to navigate to the bathroom with the sofa bed out. Then the drop down bed made the queen bed very claustrophobic - I could not sleep underneath it so I slept in one direction and my husband the other. We were like the grandparents on Willy Wonka.

I still have a him bruise!

Yeah the vista suites for sure are underwhelming.  I took a reasonable upsell for one in November.  I took a pass on one in March.  There is very little difference in the balcony and vistas.

We felt ripped off by our “upgrade” to a vista suite.   As a quad it was barely functional.  I think the stubby wall between the couch and the bed is the only difference from the regular veranda.  The shower was nice though.

  10. Cheap seats for me too.   A snack at the lobster shack and a daiquiri at the pirate ship was in my budget however.  The water is so blue and the sand was so soft.   Hope to make it back to HMC for sure.

  11. We where there last week.  The ship excursion was great but the port merchants where super aggressive.   We had to run back on board quickly, would’ve loved to shop more otherwise.  One merchant tried to steer my sister-in-law with a big stick.   I’ve been on 5 cruises previously and never experienced this within the terminal.    Wished I’d bought more of the blue mountain coffee though.

I believe all the lines are avoiding KW like the plague.

Just did a quick Twitter search on Key West and apparently there is a planned demonstration on 2/5 of a Celebrity docking.
