  1. no the ship is not going to start on fire from an errant cigarette. the reason you do that is because you deputized yourself to enforce obeying "the rules"
  2. ah the 1980s when carnival had a topless sunbathing area (16 and up only) and several lines offered shooting clay pigeons of the aft of the ship.....with shotguns.
  3. i WILL give you the hash browns. the fast-food hash browns are ugh
  4. let me guess it is the escalator, right? just hours and hours of ridding up and down the escalator.😉
  5. i am sorry the epic will be your first experience with ncl
  6. i have been on a dozen NCL cruises and royal Carribean cruises. honestly, they are not radically different (i have never been on the oasis class royal ships). royal has a more active "vibe" and ncl a more relaxed "vibe", by the "vibes" perceived. in reality the two lines are very similar.
  7. 4-year-old boy dies aboard cruise ship (usatoday.com) 10-Year-Old Girl Drowns on Norwegian Cruise Line Ship (nbcnews.com) Lifeguards added after drownings in cruise ship pools (ajc.com)
  8. i think that there was a handful of drownings across NCL and RC over a couple of year period which resulted in both lines adding lifeguards.
  9. guarding an empty pool would be boring!
  10. i remember seeing a (very bored) lifeguard on all my NCL cruises. i checked NCL added lifeguards in 2018
  11. i was on PoA in december and it was at one of the bars.
  12. there is no mechanism to tip anyone working back of the house directly.
  13. well i was going to book the "Venice" to Lisbon cruise that covered christmas and new years. good thing i did not book flights.
  14. i would not worry too much, this was after cruising restart. the ports Volos, i think lesbos and i cant remember the third but it might have been a repeat.
  15. Sky, sun, spirit, dawn & star always get forgotten about.
  16. i still can't understand why anyone would want to go to a township.
  17. probably the worse thing was we (my father and i) brought my sister, her first cruise ever. she hated it. entertainment: cut to the bone and covid made it worse food: mediocre to poor staff: mediocre to poor (covid restart mainly new crew) itinerary: shredded my dad and i felt awful about my sister. there were 400+ total day cruisers telling her this was the worst cruise ever and not to judge cruising on this.
  18. the cruise was by NCL in November of 2021. it was a 10 night cruise from Greece and was supposed to have two nights in Israel and a night in turkey. 10 days or so before departure i was emailed saying that they had cancelled Israel and added a port in turkey to compensate. when i check in at the port, i am informed that Turkey was scratched too. to make matters worse, everything about the cruise was awful once we got onboard.
  19. ex south African? being a michigan native (we have lots of "townships" unfortunately) i have ZERO understanding why people want to do the township tour thing.
  20. not to be rude, but why would you want to do this?
  21. i had BOTH of my Israeli ports canceled.
  22. I did my first transatlantic repositioning cruise in December a 9-day Lisbon to New York cruise on the Epic with two port days: the Azores and Bermuda. Both ports were cancelled due to weather. 9 sea days in a row.
