  1. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-03-05/coronavirus-ca-princess-cruise-containment Too much in here to even pick to quote, and not much of it good, including past passengers who have traveled home and are now sick, have passed it on to their families, etc.
  2. Oh lord, whenever I join a FB group I end up regretting it. Guess I'll go look ...
  3. You can see loungers stacked up under cover in a lot of the photos.
  4. The same CDC who sat on their hands and utterly failed to start testing US patients in a timely fashion? The vast bulk of scientific data is going to come out of China right now. Rejecting all of it out of hand doesn't seem like the right way forward.
  5. Hah. I just never want to see the sparkly room again. 🙂 (I want to see food (BESIDES Gunbae) and cabins!)
  6. The most recent (like 2 days ago) info from the WHO is that asymptomatic transmission is not a huge thing. https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2020/03/coronavirus-no-strong-evidence-of-asymptomatic-transmission.html Speaking yesterday, Ashley Bloomfield, the director-general of health, said: "There's very clear data from China that people who don't have symptoms are not ones who spread the virus. The virus is spread through droplets spread by coughing and sneezing."
  7. Another 'look at my face, not the ship' review. 😕 (Everyone feel free to put me on ignore at this point, I'm definitely in full Eeyore mode.)
  8. I don’t know how this strange “infected crew from Diamond ended up all the way over on Grand” notion keeps persisting, but I think people aren’t taking into account that there are other confirmed cases all over CA that have nothing to do with this. A worker at LAX has tested positive (let that one sink in). SF is a huge, international city with lots of travel ties with Asia. This is Occam’s Razor territory. I think the most likely explanation for their bad luck is Princess has more ships operating in areas of potential exposure, with a slightly older clientele. For example, I don’t
  9. Very respectfully, the times they are a-changing with regards to people’s personal space. There’s also reading a room. I saw a little clip from the Drag Brunch, and there’s some shenanigans there, but I THINK people in that crowd would be a little more expectant of audience participation and getting targeted by the emcee to sit in your lap and croon at you or whatever. I get the sense that anything goes in the “Never Sleep Alone” show and will proceed accordingly. I wouldn’t have expected it in what looks like a scaled-back Cirque number, though. (I didn’t say sex
  10. I’d actually read that each test KIT can perform 500 tests, but either way they should be good.
  11. She clearly had an axe to grind (with being treated as an influencer instead of a journalist), but some of those points were pretty surprising and do in fact reflect a lack of market research on their demographic, vis a vis food prefs (which pretty much all cruise lines have a zillion options for) and not having been programmed to believe it’s okay to be casually groped by strangers (even performers). It does play into a concern I already had, which is that the live shows have a higher level of audience participation than I’m comfortable with. Not so much the groping, I just want to be allowed
  12. I don’t like seeing my battered suitcases when I’m on vacation. Oh well.

  14. Do you have a source? Not challenging you, this is just a good time for sources.
