I just checked on-line for June /Alaska and the prices are the same as last week and there was no change in the price for 3rd and 4th guests in a cabin.

Any information about the " 48 hour deal" that is supposed to be announced on Aug. 11th as per the VP of sales on video the other day?

hey, yep; you're definitely right about the video saying those things. I just felt like Princess was subtly telling us they'd only be using ships that already have Medallion rather than the other way around, which would mean finding the means to install Medallion on all ships before launching with them right away. But I'll stand corrected if things are all done before cruising resumes. And I so agree about the benefits of Medallion Net; when it works smoothly, it really is exceptional.
It kind of is, yeah. Like the Magic Band, the Medallion is your room key and what you use to purchase things, from drinks to shop items.
A Princess video did say all ships would be medallion class, then was changed to say most of the ships would have it.

Princess revised the video to say some ships will have medallion class when they sail again😕

Princess has a video out that says that when they begin sailing again, all ships will be medallion class.

I strongly believe that Carnival Corporation's long-term goal will continue to prioritize these "touchless" forms of identification, but the biggest barrier to fully install them on Princess vessels right now is likely the lack of adequate capital (not to forget the ongoing pandemic-imposed restrictions on work deemed nonessential), so for right now, it's barely a necessity. Princess' website doesn't even include specific dates anymore for the MedallionClass launches, suggesting the initially announced debuts might not happen on-time as planned.
Princess' problem with funds is shared by other cruise lines too (think postponement or cancellation of dry docks), so we probably won't have all Medallion launches until maybe 2022 or even later? I do think that the new MedallionNet (the WiFi plan) in particular has been a net benefit to customers and the company, but we'll have to see how the installation of that goes as well, since it all likely comes down to funds. MedallionNet is a prerequisite to Medallion implementation and getting the tech and wiring for MedallionNet/Medallion does require a ship to head into dry dock. Time will tell what moves Princess will make.
Last year ships were being refit with the medallion system at sea by Wave Cable.
Just saying...

I have friends that were on a Cali. coastal cruise last year and their was a Wave Cable crew on board installing the Medallion system while they were at sea. My friends had cards rather than the medallions but some of the systems were running.

Wow! Some of this sounds like a total improvement to me. However, I just don't know how the cruise lines will survive this, as they would have to limit capacity to about 25% - 50% to keep within the confines of all these restrictions. I just don't see any sailings opening back up until there is a vaccine (if that ever happens) or this bug dies out on it's own.
I scanned through the document but missed the 25%-50% restriction on capacity. Where does it have that section?

I had the same problem. Contact Princess to straighten it out.

I just got a reply from my cruise planner. He said that he has not received any guidance about selling fewer cabins on each ship due to the pandemic.

We did not occupy tables during crowded times, only when there were plenty of empty tables. On our cruise the HC was not crowded most of the time. Have had harder time finding a buffet table on other ships. We now eat most of our meals in one of the any time restaurants or Crown Grill.

Forgive, please, this negative comment. It's meant to be informative.
Playing games or just occupying table in the Horizon Court during prime meal times without dining is something that many do. Tables, during prime meal times, are at a premium for those guests who are there to primarily dine. Finding a place to sit was a constant problem that I had on Coral Princess (and even on Royal Princess as well--for the same reason).

Her Horizon Court Restaurant overlooking the bow is great for Alaska sightseeing, particularly when the weather outside is not the best. Star Princess is a nice ship, but it does not have that type of venue.
The location of the Horizon Court forward with 180 degree view was great for us. We spent hours playing games and watching the beautiful scenery go by. The other ships do not have anyplace inside with that kind of view.
I would also check the dates of the last refurbishment for each ship.

Does anyone know how the sailing shutdown will affect the installation schedule of the medallion system on the ships scheduled to receive it this year?

I see that NCL and Celebrity have just come out with really good pricing for Alaska in 2021. They are $500 cheaper than Princess. Does Princess usually lower their prices to line up with the competition or stay with their own model?

I like using Princess, they can do everything for the whole group. If prices drop they will do that too. Extra perks too. Give it a try.
What extra perks did you get?

What are the advantages of using the Princess Travel Planner? If we form a group(5 cabins) is there any advantage to that. Do we get a better price than the prices shown on the web-site? I understand that if the price goes down, you will be able to take advantage of that reduction.

Would you have any idea of which ship he commands now?

Is there a list of the captains and and which ships they have served? I am interested in the captain of the Star Princess during the summer of 2018. He was a very social fellow with a great sense of humor. We had an outbreak of sickness on the Alaskan cruise and he really reacted immediately and contained it with only 14 cases.
