  1. Singapore Gov have just raised the Covid level - this has affected 2 cruise ships, one being Royal Caribbean Quantum of The Seas. You CANNOT sit down to eat a meal - that's correct (kind of) as ALL restaurants are now closed and you have to order off the restaurant menu to eat in your cabin. You CANNOT enjoy a drink at the bar - because all bars must close You CAN travel in a family unit of 4 in your cabin - but you CANNOT leave the cabin in groups of more than 2 people. You CAN watch a show - but each show is limited to only 50 guests. Ship capacity i

  3. MSC - agree with others comments - outside YC - no way, just no - we even hate walking in other areas lol as it can be a madhouse, especially on cruises out of Italy - in YC - excellent facilities on newer ships - we've done several YC cruises HOWEVER, Yacht Club is getting more expensive now and we are re-looking at Celebrity, both in The Retreat and std cabins because the overall cruise experience is better than MSC
  4. Just got tix for July 25th cruise - and a new check in time of 12.45 so 3 hours earlier. Good news but higher drinks bill lol
  5. Due on 4N July 25th Booked with interline rate and got confirmation from P&O that my shareholder £30 OBC had been applied. Shall wait and see but wont be too fussed - though £30 IS like 6 drinks worth lol
  6. The new system on MSC is excellent - they have a ipad type unit that you select your floor - it then immediately tells you stand by lift a, b, c, d etc Lift arrives and you get in. There are NO floor buttons inside - simply open, close and alarm You are delivered to your floor, perhaps making a stop on the way BUT you cannot change your mind once you are in there. Worked really well 5 weeks ago.
  7. I would hold out my hand for the tip - and when quizzed would politely explain that if they want me to be their attendant they should tip accordingly lol - I bet they'll press their own button.
  8. The NO.1 thing I truly HATE about cruising. If you can only manage 1 flight of stairs, it's more than someone in a wheelchair can. If you are waiting for a lift - and someone in a wheelchair is also waiting, then let them get in it. If you are inside a lift, and it stops at a floor where someone in a wheelchair is waiting, then get out of the lift and let the wheelchair user in. You could perhaps walk that last floor or simply wait for the next lift to arrive. Most of us take up much less space than a wheelchair so it will be easier for you to ge
  9. Made me laugh at the time........... I was once told by a Bar Manager on Royal Caribbean that customers overwhelmingly opted for "brand a" or "brand b" He couldn't understand that if they continue to sell out of "brand c" on day 4 of every cruise then guests have no choice other than to drink the other two, so those sales figures were artificially inflated. Also, whilst the two main brands were constantly replenished from stores to the bars, lesser known brands could easily sit in stores and be forgotten about (meaning bars had sold out but the ship hadn't w
  10. I took a pack of 4 beers on with me, in case on-ship booze turned out to be shockingly dear, but I ended up bringing them home un-drunk. un-drunk? as in beer not consumed? strange indeed
  11. Just got our Check-In time.. 3.45pm to 4.45pm !!!!! So we miss lunch and will probably have to run for the muster drill too. I guess one positive is that it cuts down our drink bill as we wont have a package for our 4N sailing. Think we're going to get an amazing view of the sailaway - as we'll be the ones releasing the mooring lines as we get aboard.
  12. 100% agree that being forced to buy 2 drink packages when 1 person in the cabin doesnt drink is unfair. Far too open for abuse to allow only 1 person to buy it though.
  13. Oh Goody - a drinks package pricing debate - hey, at least its on topic again lol We think the £39/day drinks package is excellent value - especially when you include bottled water and liquor coffee etc too. In place of a cancelled MSC cruise last week, we spent a few days in York - which I thought counted as ooop north ------- well they certainly weren't northern drinks prices in bars, as you couldn't get a pint under £5 anywhere within the walls. Makes P&O prices cheap eek ------------------------- I saw some of the Drink Menus
  14. Cruised with them twice now - the first was nothing special but we had a time slot free so booked one of their very best cabins to enjoy some luxury. My fault for not realising that no matter what cabin you booked, your service was just as bad as everyone elses - no perks that I can remember. We did have a separate restaurant but that was just a plan oblong room with square/oblong tables - very school dining hall and with just as many unruly kids. The restaurant manager was one of those who believed he was running the place for his benefit not the guests - t
  15. I used to stand up for MSC but sadly no more - the way they have recently treated their customers in the US and the UK means they will never be my "cruiseline of choice" again - they aren't bottom of my list though, that's reserved for Costa lol
