Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sea Dogy - sorry, I didn’t answer your question. The all suite complementary access was ended quite some time ago. There is a thread on here regarding the subject. I would say there appear to be many variables surrounding access. Sometimes it’s not questioned, other time it is. On Onward it was being strictly adhered to on one sailing, not another, an insistence that day passes be purchased. My most recent sailing on Quest a couple of weeks ago, access wasn’t questioned. Maybe the number of suites on Onward is a factor. Hopefully others with recent experience may post here. I’ll report back next week with the result from Journey next week.
  2. Click on suite amenities. Still shows. Even though it isn’t.
  3. Also seen firsthand and heard people discussing the same - being told it’s not possible to access without a purchased pass. Still listed as a suite amenity even though it isn’t.
  4. Apologies, I should have clarified. Made an assumption based on seeing sold out only to see pricing again a short time later. Assumably an inventory update.

    Upgrade Bids?

Absolutely correct. I often travel solo and there’s no value or very rarely value in bidding. In this particular case for myself assuming minimum bid at 200%, the price would be in line with the cost of those categories offered at the time I booked. Often feel revenue management could make more carefully considered offers to solo passengers, even if at a much closer date to sailing when inventory remains open.
  6. I count 109 staterooms and suites available on a different site that still shows choice of accommodation. Although the Spa Suites were not showing available despite the email offering a bid option. Who knows! Rather feels nothing is quite a certainty recently.
  7. Day passes and voyage passes are sold, I could not tell you price. I’ve heard a figure of $20 for a day pass. When using spa services there seems to be no problem using the pool. No idea what the official policy is, or indeed if there is a single policy applied across all ships.

    Upgrade Bids?

Appears bidding is back in operation. Received an upgrade bid offer for 12 Dec sailing this morning.
  9. Appears upgrade bidding is live and back in operation. The minimum bid pricing is around the same as difference in price between N1 and the above listed options at the time of booking. Quite happy where I am, will not be bidding.
  10. No agent, cruise booked direct with Azamara. All other arrangements were independen. No package regulation applies. Only ABTA guidance and code of member conduct with regard the cruise cancellation.
  11. I was given 14 days notice of cancellation of Journey 5-12 Dec 2023. No options at all except being told I was able to cancel free of charge and receive a full refund. As this was a back to back I was told I could cancel the second sector Singapore to Perth with minimal cancellation fee of only loss of deposit. The notification of cancellation has not been dealt with well. To begin I was berated heavily for not having up to date information in my account and was told I must update immediately. After making the point I was onboard an Azamara ship and had disabled roaming on my phone, I was told again my contact details are wrong. After pushing for further options and making the point that ABTA states a choice of alternative sailing or refund should be offered, I was offered $500 OBC if I rebooked and 500-1000 in no specified currency toward air. A data point that I should also make here is that UK travel insurance does not cover anything considered sub market rates ie frequent flyer mileage bookings or hotel reward nights. Both often not refundable dependant on the program and the level of reward booked. I have experience of a recent Royal Caribbean cancellation which where full refund or alternate sailing were offered and an FCC of 100% issued. Disappointing choices made by Azamara in dealing with these cancellations.

I deliberately booked by phone to ensure there were no issues further along that would take hours to resolve. In my account the two sailing showed differently upon looking various times, one booking, two bookings, always two numbers even when showing on a single booking. The promotional OBC was displayed then not displayed.
  13. I’ve been in 8800, next door. No noise issue, couple of maintenance issues with furnishings that I’d like to think have been rectified by now. Despite the deck plan suggesting these staterooms may be larger, they’re the standard size balcony staterooms. the forward door in the hallway is crew accommodation access. Bridge access is the other side. The hallway outside 8801 and 8803 are certainly heavy traffic areas. No overwhelming noise issue though.

I was told I’d have $700 for a B2B, had a huge drama having the bookings linked, then was told it was pro rata as a solo booking, no figure given. Another call was assured it was $700. Then told it was $400 which was actually for the second sector as a promotion and finally nothing as one of the two had been booked into a guarantee despite being offered a selection of stateroom at booking. onboard Quest last week future cruise told me I have the B2B credit and he would email the future cruise manager on Journey and she would ensure it’s applied. Arrive home to be told the sailing is cancelled with 14 days notice. No options except ‘free cancellation’. OBC is no longer an issue I guess.
