We loved Bimini.  Took the tram from the ship but had to ride it around while it made a full loop then dropped us off at Fishermen's Village (looked easy enough to walk from the port, but was glad to ride the tram back to the ship).  This is where you can get a cab.  Hint:  stand on the side of the road opposite of where the tram drops you off to catch a taxi.  Our first taxi driver was Howey, and he did a great job.  We requested he come back for us at 3:00.  We were back downtown  a few minutes early so I called him, and his colleague Jamal picked us up a couple of minutes later.  Transportation was great - no issues.

We were dropped off in "downtown", then took a short walkway to the beach.  OMG, it is stunningly beautiful.  The water is a clear, light blue and very calm.  The water temperature was perfect.  And you could see the ship in the background.

The amenities were not the greatest, and it was confusing at first.  Went to Conch Fu, around noon - they were sold out of conch and fish fillets, and were told it would take 30 to 35 minutes to get our food.  Two granddaughters had the Buffalo Wings and loved them.  Other grand had a shrimp wrap, which was ok.  The fries were delicious.  For drinks, you have to go to a different place just steps behind or below Conch Fu.  We elected to get ours from the bar nearest the beach.  Beer was $5-7 (can't remember exactly), soda and water were $2.  One grand got a fresh coconut for $5.  All in all the prices were fair and food and drinks were good.  We ate our lunch at a picnic table in the sand.  When ordering food, there were lots of flies.  Once we made our way to the sand, there were no more flies.

By 11:30, all of the beach chairs were sold out, but as people were leaving, they gave theirs to us.  There was a lady at the beach offering massages - $20 for twenty minutes.  She had a full massage table and it was protected from the sun.

Our day for the five of us cost $60 for taxis ($5 per person each way, and we added a $5 tip each way), $45 for lunch (really just three lunches and an extra order of fries), drinks $45, so a total of $150, versus paying $40 per person or $200 for the five of us to use the pool and beach (includes chairs) at Resort World.  And we felt like our $$ were going to locals.  Next time we are in Bimini, we will return to Radio Beach, with the knowledge that a little bit of hassle was worth it for a perfect beach.

thank you for the review.... will be there in a couple weeks and looking very seriously at radio beach as well!

  2. I was on a cruise in January 2022 and had alot of OBC... Guest services said if we didn't use it all, I could go to Cherry on Top and buy a carnival gift card with it then use it on another cruise.  Also, they coded about 25% if it as refundable... that surprised me but we actually got some of the cash back....

  3. I just returned from my cruise yesterday and rented a golf cart from Wet Money.  $118.00 total.  Picked it up within the port compound right outside the shopping area.  Jamal was quick to get back to me.  I had to pay up front.  The golf cart was old and at times I wondered if it would make it back but it did get me around and we did have a good time.  They drive on the left side of the road and that was challenging for me but thankfully, we made it around the whole island safe and sound.  Seems like I reserved a couple months in advance but I cannot remember exactly how much in advance. There were two of us and it was a 4 person golf cart.  We actually had to pick up a couple of hitch hikers and bring back to the ship as their tour that the booked separate from the cruise ship left them in town...at their first stop...

  4. I had a 12x12x12 on wheels in San Juan and they rejected me taking it in.  Saying that I could only have one no larger than about a 6 pack.  I took it outside, put a luggage tag on it and it showed up with my checked luggage.  In the future, I will put it inside my checked suitcase packed with clothing.

  5. I booked an early flight from the St Pete airport one time out of Tampa (wasn't even thinking about the time) anyway, the flight was around 10:30 am and the scheduled time in port was 8... It was a weekday so there was going to be rush hour traffic, and St Pete is quite a distance from Tampa....When I realized what I did, I was so mad at myself for doing something so stupid..... When I did my online check in I was sure to let Carnival know my airline arrangements and the last day of the cruise I received a letter telling me where to be at 7 am with our luggage.  There were a about 5 other couples in the lounge that next morning and we were the first off the ship.  We were off the ship by around 7:15 instead of the posted port time of 8 and were at the airport by 8 am.  Now will I cut it so close again.... absolutely not....  But kuddos to Carnival for making it happen....

  6. I was just offered an upsell for a balcony on Deck 8 midship for $64.00.  I am currently in a Balcony mid-aft on deck 6.  I am wondering if any have had any experience to the cabins on Deck 8 as it is under Lido.  Is the noise excessive after midnight or before about 9 am?  I know that when I am on the lido after they close the pools it can sometimes be a ghost town but I have never slept below this deck and was wondering about the noise.  We are on 11 day Journeys in December.  5 Sea days

  7. Can't remember if it was Miami or Ft. Lauderdale...but does anyone remember the airport shooting last year? The whole town was frozen. All of those people missed their cruise. Hey, you never know what could happen.

It was FLL. My friend flew in a day early and was at the airport at the time of the shooting... Thank God she was ok but she lives with that horror everyday... I was suppose to fly in later that day and meet her. I was connecting thru Charlotte and since FLL was closed the plan was to for me to fly to Charlotte spend the night and then fly to FLL the next morning. As luck would have it Charlotte had a freak snowstorm and shut the airport down before my flight departed the Lexington airport. I had to work with the airline and the only way I was getting there on time was to take a 6 am flight out of Louisville the next morning... I had been at the airport all day at that point and it was after 10 pm when the arrangements were made... I had to drive to Louisville to be on a 6 am flight to Miami and then take an Uber to Lauderdale... It all worked out but it was so stressful in so many ways. I was very glad to hug my friend when I arrived

  8. I used Uber last January. I had booked air travel into Fortt Lauderdale, however due to the shooting in Fort Lauderdale my flight was delayed then cancelled. I had to be fly to Miami the morning of the cruise. When I got to Miami around 9:30 am, I contacted Uber about 30 to 45 minutes later and was in Ft Lauderdale by 11:30 or so. Took me right to the luggage dropoff point. Cost around $25 plus tip.

  9. Super easy to make and taste wonderful..... just be sure to use Nellie and Joe's juice... I find it in my local grocery stores...

Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime Pie

    • 9″ graham cracker pie crust
    • 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
    • 3 egg yolks (whites not used)
    • ½ cup Nellie & Joe’s Key West Lime Juice

Combine milk, egg yolks and lime juice. Blend until smooth. Pour filling into pie crust and bake at 350º for 15 minutes. Allow to stand 10 minutes before refrigerating. Just before serving, top with freshly whipped cream, or meringue, and garnish with lime slices.

  10. I have added them successfully at check-in once and then the next cruise the check in agent didn't know what to do with them so I had to take them to guest services.... a friend of mine had them once and tried to add them at check in and they totally screwed her account up and she had to go to guest services to add them to her account. My suggestion, is if you are going to use them for onboard expenses, going to guest services to have them added would be the best route to go. If you have not completely paid for your cruise yet, you can use them to pay the balance of your cruise as well...

  11. Hi All,

I am brand spanking new to cruising but you all have been so very helpful for me I wanted to let you know that there is an early saver sale with a $50 on board credit that Carnival gave me for my already booked Vista cruise on 8/20/17. I filled out the form and within 10 minutes had an updated confirmation sent to me with the $50 on board credit noted. Not a lot but it's something :)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS. I had been checking daily and noticed the price was the same so I did nothing with it... I didn't even notice the on board credit sale until I seen your post!!! OMG you just earned our group $100 for our January Cruise!! I will toast you with my first drink of the cruise.....:D:D:D:D

  12. If you are not able to pick up your rental car within an hour of when you schedule it, you may want to call the rental car company and let them know you are held up. Last year in Jacksonville, we were delayed getting off the ship and when we showed up 30 to 45 minutes late at the rental car office, they had already given our car to someone else and didn't have a comparable car available. We ended up having to get a car several categories above what we needed and had to pay the difference....

  13. Yes we booked Early Saver. We booked and paid for it several Months ago.

I'm just upset because I'm not familiar with Carnival. With the Holland America Cruises we have booked if they offer any promotion you qualify for they add it to your booking.

On a brighter note we have a 28 day Princess cruise in March of 2018 booked, they just added a free sip & sail package to our booking. I've never had a cruise company refuse to add a promotion to a booking unless it says new bookings only. And then they have giving us a good will gesture of a small OBC.

Carnival said our category is sold out so I was out of luck. No credit. So we probably aren't a good fit with Carnival. I called Princess this morning...very very happy after. Called Carnival tonight....not so happy.

Don't know if this is helpful or not, but I spoke with my PVP today and he told me that if we wanted to exercise the OBC promotion, not to pay the cruise off until he was able to implement it because if we pay it off before hand, he could not get us the promo. Since you have paid your cruise off already, that may be part of the problem. He also wanted to warn me of price difference which was not applicable in my situation... but he did say if the price of the cruise was higher now than what I already had booked, by taking the OBC we would also have to take the higher price.
