  1. I think you hit the nail on the head! They should try one of the lines that still have kids clubs open? I can not imagine it is fun for the kids during this time. I would wait.
  2. We are offered a free interior on Sunshine. Personally never stayed inside? Basically all other catergories are a lot more. Kinda want to take advantage of my offer. I like deck 5? Any other thoughts? Pretty much only 5-9 or the lower decks?
  3. Just off RCL. My son, 18, wore shorts and a button down on formal night? Honestly, they now call it dress your best. Plus no buffet for dinner so they have to be flexible!
  4. I live in NC. My oldest is a Freshman at a State University. It is a requirement to either submit a negative test or be vaccinated at most of the universtites and colleges for in person classes and living in dorms. They also will be tested 1 time a week. They are not paying or providing the test to return to campuses. I am in a parent Facebook group and people are driving an hour to find tests. Hopefully once all the schools are back testing will be back to normal. I am actually so glad my son is vaccinated and got to skip this!
  5. Johnson and Johnson is the only 1 dose shot. It is the easiest and shortest timeframe if you are in a crunch. It is not approved for under 18 or in Canada so it is not an option for those groups. I do think they are discussing a booster?
  6. They are requiring all college students in the UNC system to get tested or submit vaccinations before returning to campus. I’m on a parent Facebook group and they are driving over a hour to find tests.i think it is just a perfect storm of more tests needed right now. It should slow down when all universities back.
  7. Florida has not stopped airlines from asking if the destination requires it. This has been since the beginnig. Why would they stop a ship with a destination that requires?
  8. Just because the US is only 50 percent vaccine ready does not corelate to the rest of the world. Yellow fever is not required here but if you go to certain countries it is. We are only 1 country. We can not require but others can,
  9. foreign goverments have gotten vaccine data for years. like the yellow fever vaccine requirement?
  10. As far as them putting testing on the consumer, I heard it is because of the bottom line? Most people in the US can get free testing. The money crunchers have figured out that they can push that to the consumer to save money, Plain and simple for them. More complicated for us!
  11. This is no different than airlines asking, They have been every day even since the new Florida law. They are required to check for yellow fever or Covid test resulsts or vaccine status before allowing someone to board. They can not fly you there because you would be denied entry. Honestly Cruiseships are bound to the countries/teritories laws. The USVI already did this and RCL had to refund money.

  13. You need to understand that Florida state laws have no bearing on Foreign countries requirements. Airlines have been requiring vaccine documents for travel from all the Florida airports. They are exempt because they can not transport somewhere they can not debark. This has been the case with all required vaccines forever ie yellow fever. Cruiselines are now all in the same boat.
  14. Here is the thing. RCL has sent Covid postive patients home on private planes. This is for vaccinated guests but unvaccinated have to have insurance. Michael Bayley the CEO. even committed to this on Facebook on August 16. Personally seems Carnival should just require the insurance for all if they are not not going to do anything for the vacciinated. I realize we have no idea if this would have made a difference but maybe she would have reached out for treeatment earlier if she was assured to get home?
  15. The bahamas is requiring it now! Even for private islands.
  16. This is no different than Airlines having to prove vaccines for travel to certain countries. They have to ask before you board. They have been flying and asking all along but as long as the country requires it they are exempt from florida law. It is now out of Floridas controls since most cruiselines include a bahamian port.
  17. I watched some of the livestreams from Horizon and Mardis Gras. They actually said numerous times that social distancing was a problem. They even talked about the Quest game on Horizon. Yikes! This wasn’t something they said out of the blue. I was jealous of Carnival cruisers because our July cruise was on RCL. I think Carnival is making changes since then.
  18. You have to consider that JJ went on the first Horizon and Mardis Gras sailings. I think future Horizons went down some and Mardis Gras is a new ship. Lots of hype. I also think numbers will be down because of the new masking. This can make a difference to many. From what RCL says they can still make a profit at 50 percent. Hopefully Carnival can as well.
  19. The good thing is your wife and daughter have plenty of time to get vaccinated. If over 18, they can decide closer to the cruise. Just get the J and J at least 15 days out?
  20. At least all the RCL masks are invividually wrapped. Not sure I would want to use one that you pulled out of dispenser?
  21. I am not sure about Carnival, but RCL gave away disposable masks. We had 2 in our cabin at embarkment and could get more from guest services or from our cabin steward. I accidently forgot mine in the room and a cabin steward gave me one off his cart so I did not have to go back to the room. I really appreciated this because I had one of the aft cabins that are far from the elevators!
  22. I know on Celebrity edge last week they discovered it when 1 vaccinated passenger got sick/had symptoms. Once they tested positive, the contact tracing/testing kicked in. It is required of all non-vaccinated to be tested before debark but also remember vaccinated flying back to other countries are being tested before debark as well. There are a lot of ways that cases can be found.
  23. Nassau is a ghost town. Most shops closed. No more straw market. I went to the Hilton on a day pass. That was a relaxing. beautiful area. Walkable to the ships.
  24. I just got off Freedom of the Seas. I know a lot of people thought RCL was making a bad choice with the mask route. It was not that bad! Of course, we only had 1200 passengers and there were a lot of areas designated for the vaccinated only. Not sure if that will change. Carnival also might want to revisit the self serve buffets and such. They definitly embraced the rip off the mask mentalilty.
  25. I was actually jealous of the Carnival people! I just got off Freedom. It was not too bad wearing a mask. Biggest thing was remembering to put it back on in certain areas. I also had an aft balcony so quite a hike back when you forgot it in the room! I spent a lot of time in the casino!
