  1. I'm sure he removes his cap when he is urinating. Otherwise it would get drenched! 🤭
  2. Tipping the bucket? PFFT! You must dump that sucka in its entirety so as to get the full invigorating effect. WOOH BUDDY, Now I'm awake! 😊
  3. While they do need reasonably calm seas and at least one volunteer... they do try to schedule a live keelhauling demonstration at least once a cruise. A real opportunity to experience what being at sea once was. I am kidding here! 😆
  4. Your overweight luggage charges must be massive! 🙂
  5. As a start towards correcting this classless behavior, I wish these offenders would at least loosen their ball cap as it seems it has restricted the blood flow to their brains to the point that they constantly forget to tuck in their shirt tail where the shirt is clearly tailored to be tucked. Sorry... something of a sore spot as I've had my ears boxed too many times. 🙂
  6. Only where used between 12 midnight and 6:00am 😊
  7. What information are you looking for? "V" staterooms are all located on and only located on deck 3. V1 staterooms are at the front of deck 3 and V2 staterooms are located at the back of deck 3. All but 2 of the remaining staterooms on deck 3 are all DV6 staterooms. Those last 2 are DV1 staterooms located aft, between the 2 Explorer Suites, all with aft-facing balconies. The only physical difference between all of these "V1/V2" and "DV6" staterooms on deck 3 is if they are located on the port (left) side or the starboard (right) side of the ship and if the stateroom is a left or right hand layout. Again, physically, there is no difference between a "V" and "DV" stateroom. Aside from that physical differences I've started above, the only difference between a DV6 and a DV1 stateroom is it's location on the ship. Hope this helps.
  8. Just came off the Viking Venus and I purposefully checked out the provided binoculars. They are perfectly fine compact binoculars. Probably 4X20s, so not alot of reach but reasonably bright and sharp. Not a pair of 8X42 field glasses but not the trash some are suggesting Viking is providing.
  9. Agree with CDNPolar, I don't like to do less than a 1hr 30 layover in either Frankfurt or Munich. 2-2.5 is my sweet spot, where I feel I can comfortably make it through border control and to my connection gate. Also agree that both these airports are nice and easy to navigate (although a slog to and from the Z gates) with good amenities to occupy a long layover.
  10. Agree with this. We didn't bring snow boots and did not need them. Even on the more adventurous excursions, you really won't be trudging across the tundra. Our waterproof hiking mid-high shoes worked great. The real important thing is a merino wool baselayer and Windproof/Waterproof parka and pants.
  11. Which shipboard bar is this as I just ordered drinks in the EL and was asked for my stateroom #. Or is Viking just not charging it to the account, as it is with a regular SSP tab?
  12. The 1st and 3rd night out of Bergen on our way to Alta.
  13. On the Northern Lights cruise right now and as formernuke reported, I can count the number of jackets seen for dinner and such on my fingers. Snow pants... whole other thing. 😀
  14. On the Viking Venus as I type... For deck 4 we have the expected washer/dryer stack but with a new twist. The dryer door now has an integrated monitor and there is a PlayStation 6 wedged in between the washer/dryer stack. Great fun!
  15. So you agree that disparaging Viking here is not completely appropriate. You do seem to be holding Viking responsible for the Tripmate process.
  16. Pretty sure it is under the "Before You Go" tab. I would look there.
  17. You will be downgraded to steerage and will have to write 1000 times "We shall never ever miss our check-in again." 😁 It will take you a bit longer to check-in and board as Viking will need to collect and check your information. Should be no biggie.
  18. The "TV" is actually a monitor on a closed network. They are not bluetooth enabled and there is no ports accessible or meant to be accessed by the pax.
  19. HOP is a discount regional subsidiary of Air France. I have to think their arrival are at the same gates as all the other regional flights and will use the same baggage carousels.
  20. We have gone both ways, through Viking and DIY. The advantage of going with a pre or post extension handled by/through Viking is that they handle everything and you are under their support umbrella the whole time. When it fits it is typical the best way to go.
  21. My DW has stopped leaving her postcards with the desk on both the Ocean and River cruises. While never failing to post them, the worst result has been that they don't get posted until the ship returns to a "Home" port, the beginning or end port. She has the best luck where we've sought out an actual post office and mailed from there. In short, I think your best result will be to seek out an actual post office or something like a "UPS Store" that will pack things up and ship it for you.
  22. We never seem to have enough space to unpack everything. What are we doing wrong? 😁
  23. I found them to be very high quality! 😀 I'm kidding of course. They weren't a pair of Swarovski ELs, but they were better than average.
  24. Wait! They're not the only ones welcomed? Well that explains all the accents! 😁
  25. Speaking of spelling... you mean MVJ in your topic title, right? 🙂
